1) The Sith will canonically win this fight, so keep this in mind while posting.
2) No attempts at super destruction, such as the Holdo Slash, will be permitted.
3) For the purposes of this battle, characters belonging to a faction may use any class of ship possessed by that faction for the duration of this battle only. This means that a level one Sith may, for the purposes of this battle only and never outside of this thread, command a Sith frigate or corvette.
4) The limit for the above rule is that no character may control a ship beyond frigate class - all such ships shall be NPC'd if present at all.
5) Characters from factions other than the main two in this battle, will not be able to use any ship that they do not personally own.
6) If arguments start, please attempt to resolve quickly as this is meant to serve as a suitably grand final battle for this TL.
7) This battle is for ships of fighter, interceptor and freighter classes only.
8) Have fun.

Vincent Deryck didn't know how it had come to this but he did know that this would likely be the end of him here and now, politically speaking at least. The Jedi Order had appeared above Coruscant with their entire battle fleet, ready to engage with their mortal enemies in the void above the capital of the Republic.

Had he a fleet large enough at his disposal, Vincent would have taken the fight to the Jedi himself for daring to show up here, of all places, and hover so menacingly above the capital he had pledged to protect. As it stood, he had the Coruscant Defence Fleet but that was, as the name implied, surrounding the planet itself to make sure that the Jedi weren't able to launch an assault.

Or at least slow down any Jedi assault.

Certainly, the Jedi claimed to be here in the name of peace and they asked and they begged for the Republic to stand beside them against the might of the Sith Empire but Vincent wasn't going to do it.

Not only did he still not fully trust the Jedi but he knew the power of the Sith Empire - he knew that theirs was a power to be feared and obeyed.

But without the forces to strike back, or make any real moves, the Republic had had to go another route entirely and call on their 'allies' in the Sith Empire. They had done exactly what the Jedi had wanted and they had called for the Sith Empire to join the Jedi in waging battle above their most important planet - albeit the Republic would not be joining them in this venture so it wasn't the result the Jedi craved in truth.

If he wasn't forced to resign after this, Vincent would retire - he couldn't take the weight of this role any longer. He stepped forward to address the people of the Republic and the fleet of the Jedi above them as the Sith approached, appearing in the system as he spoke.

"People of the Republic... friends in the Sith Empire... and the Jedi Order, floating above our heads." he spoke from his seated position behind his desk, "I speak to you now as a man who wishes he didn't have to make this address. As a man who would much rather be celebrating our victory over the Cartel with the rest of you. Much rather be welcoming our boys home from far away battlefields."

His frown became more pronounced.

"Today I sit before you as a man who must announce, again, that we are the victims of an attack by enemies of the state." he gestured upwards, "Even as I speak, the Jedi Order holds their positions above the planet of Coruscant and demands that the Sith Empire face them in battle. They claim to not wish to hold the planet to ransom - while floating above me right now is enough armaments to level most of Coruscant should we object. So I say this to our allies and friends within the Sith Empire..."

Vincent's eyes narrowed.

"Your enemies are all arrayed before you here and we beseech you to fight the fight you have courted for so long and win the war that you have been so invested in for so long. End the madness of war and death and be victorious. For the sake of freedom loving sentients Galaxy wide... Force give you speed."

And may the Force be merciful on him for the lies he had told, the deaths he was causing, to continue to hold onto the fragile peace and stability of his government.

"This is the one area where of the battlefield where having greater numbers isn't going to be that much of an issue."

Captain of the combined fighter squadrons, Blue Leader, commed out to his teams as they began to calibrate for approach and combat. Hands firmly in position, the captain let out a low, slow, breath as he pushed his fighter into assault speed.

"We are going to be dashing right into the sarlaac's mouth here people - let's burn it up from the inside and tear through these guys!"

What more was there to say? The Sith had more ships and more pilots - but it would all come down to the luck and skill of those in the dogfighting.

rTsM8q4.png

"Talon Strike Force, this is Talon Actual here - be advised that the Jedi have deployed their freighters and fighters. You know what that means right?"

Priming the weapons system, the captain of the combined squadrons couldn't help but smile. He was itching for the chance to get into it with these Jedi pilots and he was more than ready to end as many lives as he could.

For the Empire, for the Empress and for himself.

This was going to be a bloodbath and he was going to love every second of it.

"Time to clean house boys and girls - full advance!"

Ekaj sat in the cockpit of the S5 fighter has it drifted along side the Radiant a Ashla class corvet. His Frigates that launched him was not to far but for now his squadron stayed with the corvet.

There ploy had worked and failed all at once. The sith where here but the republic blinded by fear, hatred and greed stood one side. They where alone in a battle Ekaj did not think they could win. Was this the death of the Jedi order.

Being the more agile and quick of the two forces, the waves of starfighters clashed together first before the Corvettes and Frigates entered similar range. The fighting was fierce, carefully maintained formations falling to the chaos of the battle to scatter to the solar winds. After a few sorties, though, it appeared that the zeal of the Jedi was managing to keep their fighters in tighter discipline and thus give them the edge at the start of the fight. There were casualties on each side, of course, yet it seemed slightly more costly to the Sith than their opponents. Morale seemed to soar amongst the intrepid pilots, reforming their wings to launch into the next strike.

That was when the Star Destroyer arrived. The gigantic ship, of a class not seen since the Hundred Year Darkness, fell into formation behind the vanguard of capital ships and spewed forth a swarm of fighters piloted by the most elite among the Empire. It was one of these, Fang Prime as was his callsign, that took notice of the Jedi Starfighter being piloted by Ekaj ( @Andrewza ). Attuned to the Force, he felt that whoever was piloting this craft would be his primary target, toggling his HUD to keep track of him as he peeled away from his formation. He still had some distance to travel, yet his destination was unerring. It would seem the young Jedi wouldn't make it completely through this battle unchallenged.

Though the capital ships where clearly in favor of the sith this did not translate to the fighters. Carrying more fighters per frigate and using hyperspace rings to add to the number the Jedi where able to bring in a large number of fighters piloted by dedicated and as the history books would say fanatical crews.

Ekaj S5 snub fighter was aggressively assaulting the sith lines. They might be able to take out the sith capital ships if they got close. In fact moral among fighters was high and unlike the sith empire the Fighters of the Jedi worked together.

But all hope seemed lost when the giant star destroyer entered the fight. The Sith forces seemed bolstered in fighting spirt and numberscas the massive ship seemed to vomit swarms of fighters.

It hit Ekaj, not physically not even painfully. Just a feeling, a warning the guidance of the force. Looking around the young jedi could not see any one behind him but then he saw him. A fighter darting forward but with out a doubt targeting the young jedi.

Swinging his fighter around Ekaj slammed his throttle to max as the fighter darted forward. Rolling over a exploding ship, a sith fighter Ekaj opened up at max range with a burst. It was a simple attack to test his challengers skill and resolve.

Fang Prime was not a regular trooper, he was a Sith acolyte who had a passion for flying that few could match and so when Ekaj ( @Andrewza ) started firing at him in such a testing manner, he was actually rather annoyed. The idea that this Jedi thought him so little a challenge angered him and he used that anger to push himself further, more powerfully.

Spinning his own fighter, he deliberately avoided Ekaj's blaster fire by the slimmest of margins, not to show off but because by moving as little as possible, Fang Prime was able to fire off three shots at Ekaj's fighter, all grouped on it's centre and all accurately due to his own fighter's lack of excess movement.

This would not be a simple fight for the Jedi - Fang Prime would not allow it!

Elsewhere in the battle, the Jedi fighters were still hitting well above their weight in downing two to three Sith fighters for each loss. Were this a fair fight, with equal numbers, then the Jedi would have this part of the battle won... but this was not a fair fight. Even with a three to one kill advantage, the Jedi needed their pilots more than the Sith needed theirs. Ekaj would seen be able to see that his wings, despite raking in the kills, were not responding, as more and more of them were destroyed.

Ekaj watched as the sith pilot skimmed his shots so he could remain on target and even through a battle filled with force sensitive Ekaj could sense his opponent.

Even so the pilot had anserwed the Question of how good he was. Ekaj wondered the sith knew the same.

Slipping a shot from his ion cannon in Ekaj slipped his craft to the left. At no point would he let him out of his sight. Rule of of space combat, press the attack, Ekaj knew that rule and how it saved lives. As a second ship this time a jedi fight exploded, it pilot flung in to the vacuum the S5 of of Ekaj fired again with its laser cannons. This time they where not Cassualy fired but aimed slightly in front and below his target. At the same time Ekaj rapidly closed the gap.

Below the fleet battle raging above Coruscant, a different kind of struggle was unfolding. The presence of two clashing fleets above the capital of the Republic had not gone unnoticed by the people on the ground. Many with the means to do so reacted the way people witnessing a looming disaster had done since time immemorial; they ran, as far and as fast as they could. That neither side had the stated intention of invading made little difference.

Thousands, millions of panicked Republic citizens in every kind of spacecraft imaginable boiled out of the city-world's upper atmosphere, their shear numbers quickly overwhelming Coruscant's aerospace traffic control service and sky-way police. Tiny skiffs jockeyed for position beside huge luxury star cruisers, with near misses and collisions a common occurrence. A few of the more bloodthirsty - or at least more desperate - flyers even resorted to using their ships' weapons to clear a path through the scramble. Small space battles broke out among the fleeing throngs, mirroring the larger one which raged on at still higher altitude.

Amidst the chaos, one ship dodged and weaved, its pilot cursing at every other vessel that nearly scraped her paint.

"Kriffing hells where did these people learn to fly?!"

Eice Frex, Ossein Jazaq, jinked and weaved, fighting her way toward the edge of the disunited refugee fleet with gritted teeth. She hadn't yet gotten desperate enough to fire her weapons, but her FR.1 Utility Pinnacehad its shields raised, and her laser cannons were warmed up, just in case. She had watched a privately owned corvette blast its way through a flock of freighters and planet-hoppers in the scramble to lift out of the atmosphere, and though she intended not to get involved in such savagery, she also intended to give anyone who tried to blast her aside a reason to regret trying.

Eice looked over her shoulder to where her copilot, a binary auto-servitor named JV3, sat plugged in in the rear cockpit.

"Jeeves!" She shouted. "Start the navicomputer! Course for... kriff, someplace not here!"

It would take some time, Eice knew, for the little pinnace's navicomputer to calculate a safe course out of the system. Until it did, Eice and Jeeves would have to survive...

A suicidal-seeming skiff buzzed across Eice's course, and she cursed long and loud; she cursed the skiff pilot, the Sith, the Jedi, the fleeing Coruscanti, the Republic, and most of all the courier job which had put the Tintinna on Coruscant at the same time the Jedi and Sith decided to throw down. Hells, ever since leaving Corellia she had avoided the core worlds, and the one time she had decided to come back...

"Jeeves, hold on back there!" Eice called, angling her ship up at an even steeper angle. "No way we can survive in this mess, we'll have to get above it!"

The pinnace rose above the tumult, and Eice opened up the throttle, finally able to let her pinnace stretch its legs. The little ship streaked up into the open space between the battle above and the mad rush below; the Tintinna sighed in relief, sagging into her pilot seat...

...only to be broken out of her reverie by a panicked chattering from her droid.

"What do you mean we're rising too fast?!"

Suddenly, a ship whizzed by Eice's pinnace at high speed, pursued closely by a second spewing laser bolts. Eice jinked aside, eyes wide, as she recognized a Jedi and a Sith starfighter. Realization dawned on the young Jazaq as she looked around at the larger, more intense space battle now raging around her.

"Ohhh... kriff... out of the cook-pot, into the cooker..."

Fang Prime had to admit that his Jedi 'dance partner' knew what they were doing but that was the closest thing to a compliment the Imperial would be willing to give the damned dirty Jedi. They might be a decent pilot but that didn't change what else they were - cornered rats waiting for death and he and his men were more than happy to give it to them.

Cursing his opponent regardless, Fang Prime spotted the fire coming his way and pulled up, looping around rather than continuing forward into the Jedi's line of fire. It left him slightly vulnerable and unable to fire back while he pulled off the move but it was better than taking the shots. Besides, there was something he need to nip in the bud.

"Soft Paw 1 and 2 - confirm sighting on Pinnace."

There was a second's pause.

"Soft Paw 1 confirms."

He grinned.

"Gun it down."

Two other Sith fighters, Soft Paw 1 & 2, banked hard from the left, changing their trajectory to open fire with their lasers on the pinnace ( @AutoFox ).

Rule one, press the attack. It was strange the imperial pilot who was at least a FS probably acolyt did not follow rules one of dog fighting in open space. Ekaj kept his S5 at full power and now led his shot and fired as soon as the imperial started his turn in to the loop. Ekaj had the advantage here one he made and hoped for. The imperial was temporarily blind as both the ion cannon and laser cannons opened up. Ekaj kept up a long burst before turning and diving to the planet bellow. It was clear to him to ever one who had won this fight. With the frigates cut off and from escape and being shredded and the massive number of imperial fighters it was clear the Jedi had lost the battle, lost the war.

Escape to space was sucide in the fighter with zero hypdrive and the frigates and rings where not a option. But city planet could hide a army never mide one child.

As he plunged in a spiral towards the planet he watched as Civilians ships caught in the battle tried to flee death though in the opposition direction.

Eice gritted her teeth, shaking her head. The little Tintinna really didn't want to have to pick a side in the conflict that was unfolding, but if she stuck around much longer she wasn't going to have a choice. She angled her tiny craft toward the nearest edge of the battle zone, intending to flee, when a fusillade of laser bolts streamed over her canopy, causing her to look at her scanner screen instinctively.

Behind her in the rear-facing secondary cockpit, JV3 gave a panicked chatter. Eice cursed.

"I see them, I see them!"

Not for the first time, Eice regretted not stealing a pinnace with a rear gunner's position, though she doubted her copilot's efficacy in that regard. Still, she had earlier vowed that anyone who tried to blast her out of the way would come to regret it, and she wasn't going to let a little thing like speed or position get in the way of her retribution.

"Alright you bucket-heads, try following this!!"

Reaching over, Eice disengaged the pinnace's G and angle-of-attack limiters, and then twisted the stick an an arcane maneuver. She was pressed back into her seat, her field of vision through the canopy abruptly shifting upward, but still streaming by in the same direction she had been traveling; after a few microseconds it leveled back out again, but now, the exhaust plumes of the two Sith fighters were directly ahead.

Eice whooped, her expression jubilant at her success. Pugachev's Cobra was a difficult maneuver, mastered by only a few Ossein pilots; as far as Eice knew, none had ever pulled it off in a ship as large as a pinnace. It had the effect of drastically cutting speed, allowing Eice's craft to drop back behind her two pursuers. Shaking her head to put herself back on the situation at hand, she centered one of them in her cross-hairs and pressed the firing stud...

One did not nekfight with an Ossein Jazaq lightly.

Fang Prime took the shot from the ion cannon first before the blaster cannon finished the job of the now disabled ship, blasting it in half and tearing the pilot in half. He had just enough time to think about how odd it was that Jedi, who were supposed to cherish all life, were so damned comfortable blowing someone up in a starfighter, knowing that it was a certain death and, if he had managed to survive long enough to be blown into space, a very painful one.

In the end, Fang Prime died quickly in a hail of blaster fire.

Soft Paws 1 and 2 were taken completely off guard by her move and they both knew, as they sped past her, that Eice was going to be gunning for one of them. With there being no way to predict which one of them she was going to be gunning for, they split up, one banking to the left and the other to the right. The plan being that they would loop back around and one of them would be able to target her as she was dealing with one of them.

Indeed, Eice focused fire and attention one of them, giving the other enough time to swing around, firing at the rear of her pinnace again.

All around them the Jedi were dropping out of the skies - they were going well and Imperials were dying a lot faster than they were but, again, the numbers were against them here.

And then the order comes and Soft Paw 2 flies away from the pinnace to assist in mopping up the last of the Jedi fighters.

The fight is over.

The Jedi fleet has been all but entirely destroyed with very few ships making panicked jumps to lightspeed that will likely kill them as surely as any blaster.

The war is over.
