Beginner Swordsmanship [Concluded]

There were a lot of people showing up. It seemed that Vergil had contacted more people than she had thought, or word had spread pretty quickly about the training session. This group was even larger than the group Master Kai had chosen to instruct just the other day. Saana's yellow gaze passed over all of them briefly, including Ashton and Sondo. It seemed at first she might not say anything, but then she stepped forward.

"I am called Saana Tai." Saana gave a slight bow. Some had already known her name, others had not. " We all here are padawans of varying skill and experience." Her voice was gentle and her words softly accented. "We have had so many come here today. I have a suggestion. Those Padawans who have been training for some time, or have other previous training, should pair with someone who either has less experience than you or at least less experience in your preferred lightsaber form. Show and help each other with what you have learned."

(OOC: Since this thread is getting rather crowded, for characters who think this a good idea, a new thread can be started for smaller groups to make it easier to keep track of whose turn it is to post and so that everyone isn't waiting for like 8 or 9 other people to post.)

Anara knew who lightsaber skills were nonexistent and decided that a lightsaber lesson might do her some good. She calmly approached the door to the training room and entered to find several others including a Twi'lek, a Zabrak, Saana Tai who she had met before, a Nautolan and two Humans. Some were training and the Humans appeared to be observing or had just arrived.

She quietly leaned against the wall next to the male Human and folded her arms. She watched the sparring in an attempt to pick up some of the techniques considering she had no experience. While Saana was talking , Anara gave her a look indicating she would like to talk to her.

Vergil was really beginning to get surprised at the number of attendees that had arrived for the training. He wasn't even sure one person would show let alone the ten or so that had. In fact, as they entered, Vergil realized that a few more were on their ways to join the group as well. With this many people, the room would be getting a little cramped soon. He needed to rethink how the practice was going to work.

He waved those that had arrived to come join them. Vergil looked them over as Saana spoke, something that Vergil was prone to doing. "We have had so many come here today. I have a suggestion. Those Padawans who have been training for some time, or have other previous training, should pair with someone who either has less experience than you or at least less experience in your preferred lightsaber form. Show and help each other with what you have learned."

Vergil nodded at the suggestion, indicating his agreement. "I like the idea. Let us break up into groups for a little while. If there are any of you who would like join me in a little sparring, please ask. It's been a while since I've gotten a chance to practice with someone other an a droid."

When Vergil stepped up to speak, she gave a slight smile. She was pleased, in the very least, that her idea was agreeable. Her yellow gaze passed over the several padawans that had decided to gather here for practice with their lightsaber blades and wondered if there might be more yet to show up. Anara's expression did not escape her notice and while Vergil invited people to take an opprotunity to spar with him directly, she moved quietly over to the other Togruta.

Saana offered Anara a warm smile as she came to stand next to her. She was always pleased to see another Togruta; it did not happen often. "Hello. Did you have a question?"

(OOC - For CJ Solo: I assume that Saana and Anara got to share each other's names in the Building Blocks thread)

Anara moved away from the wall to speak to Saana, but she spoke in Togruti instead of Basic. Relishing the idea of being able to speak in her native tongue once more. She bowed and happily asked, " Oh hay Saana. I was hoping you could show me some of your saber skills, you know? One on one. I didn't learn much in our previous class and I could really use some direction on where I should go next" She also noted that Saana looked a bit older than her, judging by her slightly longer montrals and height. "Oh and it's always great to see another Togruta. I have never spoken so much Basic in my entire life"

Saana laughed a little at Anara's statement, not to make fun but because she understood. After all, it was only a couple years ago that she left Shili. She responded quietly so as not to be disruptive to the rest of the group as she spoke in Togruti as well. "I do understand. Master Kai uses words from time to time that still confuse me." Her attention left Anara briefly as she glanced back over the rest of those gathered in the training room, but it soonr eturned to Anara. "I would be happy to help you, Anara. Would you like to work on it here or in a less crowded place?"

Anara smiled when Saana accepted request and replied, in Togruti, "Anywhere would be fine, thank you" After taking a moment to think to herself she added, "Actually, lets find a private room"

Saana offered another smile before she turned slightly. There was a lot of excitement about; it seemed that lightsaber training was more than just a little popular. "Vergil." She called out to him. "I will meet with you again soon, yes? I will be assisting Anara, for now." With her intentions stated, Saana's attention turned back to Anara and she returned to speaking Togruti. "Come, then. There are plenty of rooms like these on board." With that, she would lead Anara out of the bussling training room and back into the corridor of the ship...

While he waited, Vergil went over to his training partner, the driod, and switched it to aggressive. Perhaps it would polarize one of the others into acting if he showed of his skills. Reactivating his blade, Vergil watched the droid carefully. While he preferred living targets, droids could be fairly difficult opponents to handle. The droid was also watching him carefully, blade held out in a typical pose.

Vergil felt himself pulling the force into him. He was sinking into that feeling he was getting accustomed to lately. The tiredness in his muscles eased and he became super focused on his opponent. A sudden warning flashed to him through the force as the droid initiated the first attack. The first strike was as if it was moving through syrup. Vergil easily brought his blade up to intercept the strike. To him, the response was faster than anything he had ever managed.

Vergil knocked the blade up and quickly brought his blade around for a swipe at the droids leg. It intercepted, but at the last second. It tried to make a movement to Vergil's right, opposite of his dominant arm. Vergil stopped it by twirling around and bringing down his blade in a chop. The droid parried and sent Vergil spinning, something he intended to happen. Vergil let the blade carry him into his next position to continue the attack.

OOC: Apologies in advance for the double post, but since it's been a month since the last response I'll consider this thread concluded. Thanks to everyone who participated and I hope to make future stories with your characters.
