Artorigas stood at the bridge of the Victory Class Star Destroyer, an ancient relic of a time long past. It was lucky then that he and those Sith which came with him were only fighting pirates and nothing more, the 'Valiant' as the old markings called it would put little to no fight up against some of the more advanced ships of the FWA or Republic. But needs must and ancient relics such as this were the main source of fire power the Sith Order could field at this time. The forges at Exegol had barely begun to be powered on let alone begin the process of new powerful warships for his Kingdom and the Sith Order at large.

The blue lights of hyperspace disappeared as the Valiant returned to normal space, before them a small asteroid belt appeared. Already like ants storming from the nest the pirates began to launch ships to defend there home. "Power up the weapons, deploy the fighters." Artorigas called from his station by the main windows. New armour had still yet to be created for the Sith Noble so he wore just a military uniform, his hands clasped behind him as he stared out into the darkness between the stars.

All across the ship sirens began to call out, signalling action stations. Fighters were called to launch, weapons teams were warming up their turrets, damage control teams were at there stations and a big smile crept over Artorigas' face. He had always dreamed of leading a ship into combat such as this.

"You psychopathic little droi-AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!" the Nikto lab subject screamed in pain as R5-9A removed another vertebrae. The medical droid wanted to scoff; he had no brain - how could he be a psychopath? Honestly, he didn't know where the Sith sourced these idiot lab subjects from but he'd much rather collect his own. He was currently testing a new painkiller drug he was developing for use by the Sith soldiers in battle. It'd provide

"Hmm...disappointing. Tell command I'll need at least ten more subjects to make this work." R5 told his medical assistant. The human stiffened at being ordered by a droid but did as instructed. The R5 unit had been in service to the Sith for longer than anyone on the ship could remember and had somehow gained the favor of command. Plus, officers who got under foot of the astromedic had an odd habit of disappearing. Not wanting to be on the wrong end of R5's scalpel, the assistant scurried off.

As R5 sterilized his instruments and disinfected himself, he heard the blaring of the klaxons and the call to battle stations. A morbid sense of curiosity overrode his circuits. While he was no stranger to combat - a good medical droid rolled out in battle situations - he'd rarely ever been in space battles, even while in service to the Republic. Wanting to keep his combat skills fresh and ever present of the dangers of being obsolete to the Sith, R5 sent a message to the astromech docking bay and ordered one unit to stay behind. Then, R5 rolled into the hangar, ready to be paired up and fight the pirates that the Sith had seen fit to deem their enemies today.

Covax was waiting in the cockpit of a Tie. Hanging by the seat's harness as it were, as he awaited the command to launch from the officer of the hanger bay. The opportunity to do so had been offered to him by the rising star of the Sith Order, Lord Wessex, or Darh something. The merc really didn't know the special titles of force wizards. What Covax did know was that Art's money was good, and the man had plenty of it. So here he was. Waiting, and hanging, and waiting.

"I once more require your services, he says. Come join me on my ship, he says. I will pay you handsomely, he says. He never said I'd be in a force damn eyeball with wings." the merc grumbled entirely to himself.

Suddenly Covax could feel a shift, a tiny vibration. The bay doors open to reveal the void of black doted with stars. They had arrived. The hanger was suddenly busy. Pilots ran to their fighters and bombers, droids were being shuffled off into ships that had the sockets to accept them. Such as his Tie.

The merc would glance behind him as a beat up looking R5 unit was plugged into the socket of the ship behind the pilots hatch on the ship. Covax would have preferred to use his own astromech Washbolt, but did not was to run the risk of the Sith finding out about other clients or employers, such as the Republic.

"Run a systems check, fire up the engines and weapons and lets get going."

As the worker ants began to charge from the nest, so to came the soldiers. A pair of DP-20 Corellian Gunships appeared from behind the main asteroid, at first Artorigas thought that they may be looking to flee the battlefield, but they soon turned and looked to be moving into the Starboard of 'Valiant'. "Thirty degrees to starboard, raise shields. Lets concentrate on the lead Gunship." He shouted to no one in particular, the chief lieutenant onboard took the orders however and began laying out specific orders to the relevant departments. "Pull squadrons, one and two to guard our Port side, three and four close in on the enemy." This to was passed down through the ranks heading down to the Flight Controller who would relay to the pilots.

As the fighters began there respective duties the 'Valiant' started its turn, the point of the Star Destroyers wedge aimed squarely at the lead Gunship. "Fire once in range." He called, it was the last command needed for now and soon the bright green plasma bolts which signalled the ships forward Heavy Turbolaser Cannons were now in range and began peppering the shields of the Gunships.

R5 beeped obediently, although he masked the disdain he held for most of the crew that made up the Valiant. It had been a long time since he'd plugged into a ship before and never in a TIE so he spent the first few moments of their flight getting acquainted with the layout of the ship and what he could do back here. He liked what he saw. If the pilot felt so inclined, he could switch off piloting or gunner duties to R5 and they could both focus on one specific task. He sent Corvax a message saying as much over his text screen and recommended they fly well over top of the gunship to drop a torpedo on it.

Covax scoffed at the view from his chair as the R5 unit was being lowed into the ship. His own astromech was an R6, a model a little more reliable then the fives and not as prone to programming bugs. However he had no other options. These were not his ships nor his droids. This was the job he agreed to, so here they went.

Once the droid was locked in, Covax launched the ship. Quickly falling into formation with others from what appeared on his HUD screen to be Tie Squad Three. A group of twelve assorted Tie models. Suddenly the Wing Commander chimed in. "Orders are to assist squad four in attacking the second Gunship, leave the lead ship to the destroyer."

"Copy." Covax confirmed. "Ok droid, You wanna play gunner that's fine with me. Hold off on the bombs though, need to run down those shields first." The merc hoped this little partnership would work. Otherwise they would be dead very soon. As the merc joined three others ties in approching an attack vector on the port side of the second gunship. Intending to target shields and the turbolasers.

"Turn to starboard complete." Cried one of the navigators who led the ships pilot team. The green of the Star Destroyers Turbolasers continued to light up the bridge, but now a small haze of returning red fire crashed against the ships shields. "Drop bow twenty degrees, lets pull all our guns onto that frigate." Artorigas shouted in return, the same lead navigator repeated his command back to him before he began the execution.

As the nose began to move down the Corvette shifted slowly up the middle of the bridge viewport, from this angle the Valiant could keep the largest amount of its guns upon the ship for the longest period of time. "The Corvette's shields are holding sir, looks like there are concentrating all there power there looking to break through out lines." Shouted one of the tactical officers. "Distance." Artorigas shouted back. "Just coming into range now." The man shouted back already understanding what the Sith had in mind. "Then keep at our current heading concentrate all fire into the nearside shield and ready the proton torpedo's."

R5 obliged and activated the laser turrets of the ship, aiming them with the machine-like accuracy that came so easily to mechanical beings. While the droid wanted to point out that launching the torpedoes now could help overrun the shields even faster, he held his tongue. Or vocoder rather.

Instead, he kept a neverending barrage up upon the ship, careful to pause every now and then to avoid overheating the blasters. With the barrage plus what their backup ships were providing, it should be a relatively quick process of depleting the ships' shields.

"You fly well for a meatbag." R5 beeped to Corvax.

Covax guided the nimble Tiefighter well enough. The other fighter's joining them in the attack run, focusing on battering the shields. Yes the merc knew the torpedoes would hammer the shields better. However he, or rather they, only had four. When they were gone they were gone. Covax wanted to save them, hopefully for the engines and maybe the bridge.

However the gunboat was not going down so easily. Suddenly the three port side quadlaser came online. Unleashing ribbons of plasma around them. Destroying the fighter next to them. The flak rocked the Tie Elder, as Covax corkscrewed the ship away.

"Shit!...R5, how are the shields?" he shouted. Hitting the throttle to get some distance before turning to take another run. Expecting the droid to confirm only light damage he would then give the command. "Move power to the shields to half, give the rest of the guns." he would reply to R5. Over the comms he would give an order, "3-3, 3-5. Follow our lead. One more pass should do it."

"They are within range now sir." The tactical officer called out from his little pod. "Open fire." Artorigas commanded back, far below them upon the side of the Defiance twelve torpedo tubed opened up facing the little corvette above them, warheads appeared at there edge for a split moment before they launched themselves into the vacuum of space.

At the same time the weapons teams concentrated there fire on a single part of the ships shields, the blue haze around the ship was slowly turning yellow then orange under the combined fire of the ships Turbolasers. Then just as the hue changed again the twelve torpedo's crashed into the ship. It took eight of them to fully shatter the shielfs, two of the remaining crashed into the bellow of the ship ripping gapping holes in its underside. The final two missing the engine bay by a fraction, but it was too late for the ship. For not only were two holes present in its belly but now the heavy fire of the ship was let loose into its unprotected flank.

In a matter of seconds all living space within the ship was removed, not one soul would survive.

"I would like to advise using the torpedoes now as the gunboat seems to be almost depleted." R5 beeped before confirming that the ship still was flying at 70 percent capacity shields. Had he been in a more tactical, bloodthirsty mood, he may have dedicated some of the power to nonessential systems like the pesky "life support" that the organics were always on about to the guns but he resisted the temptation.

"Case in point." R5 said, referring to the devastation that Darth Caelesits caused with the barrage of torpedoes. He prepared a torpedo to launch at the gunboat and waited for the order. Surely this organic would agree with his finely honed risk calculations?

Covax was to busy trying to keep this ship in once piece to argue further with the Sith droid. He few the three ship squad into the attack formation, doing his best to keep his nerve as the laser fire buzzed around his cockpit and just over and under his wings. "Fine droid...Fire! All wings fire torpedoes."

Soon as the weapons were away, the merc would bank hard and pull away and push the throttle. Getting as much distance as he could from the 3-6 possible missiles about to slam both shield and hull of the gunboat. "Shift power to engines and shields until we're clear of the blast wave."

A beautiful light show erupted before Artorigas' eyes as the corvette was blown into pieces before the might of the Victory Star Destroyer, the old lady still packed a punch it seemed. A smile lit up the Sith Noble's face as he watched the remains of the ship scatter into the deep darkness of space. A secondary light caught his attention as he watched one of the combat wings unload there payload into the second corvette.

The torpedos smashed into the shielded ship turning the shields a deep red colour before collapsing under the weight of the payload. A pair of torpedo's slipped through the punctured shield and buried themselves deep into the side of the ship. The explosion tore through the side of the ship exposing much of the living space for the ship. It still had some fight left in it, the main power core and bridge still going, but it would soon be nothing more than a memory. "Captain turn towards the main base the Fighters can clear up that mess."

R5 did as instructed and diverted the necessary amount of power to protect the shields and increase the capacity of the engines, beeping to Covax that this would compromise some of the other components of the ship temporarily. Personally, the droid thought it was worth the risk, although he did recommend cutting life support to bolster up depleted systems.

"I want live subjects if at all possible - my tests are important, you know, esteemed Darth." R5 whistled over the comms to Caelestis.

Covax marveled at the sight of the first Corvette going up, even as he was at full thrusters to avoid being in the blast wave. Adding to this, the attack run their target had also proven effective in taking down the shields and rendering most of the guns at the port side useless.

"Lets finish this an rejoin the destroyer. R5, move power to the shields. Another round of torpedoes should do it. All wings follow my lead." the merc commanded. As he did, he turned the agile Tie on a credit and aimed the craft for another attack. The several remaining craft followed. Closing the space between them and the Corvette once more.

This time they came for the bridge, which like many other Corvette designs was on the nose of the gunship. Covax and the others held the line on the damaged port side of the ship. Unleashing a hail of green laser fire along the hull. Ignoring his droid's request to leave the ship with survivors, the human fired one of his last two remaining torpedoes at the bridge. Another of the Ties doing the same. Several ships back, another Tie fired one at the engines.

As the three bombs hit, the Corvette would start to break up before joining it's predecessor in exploding. Filling the void with a brilliant light show. All Tie wings would then return to the Victory class Destroyer to re-arm and refuel if needed. But knowing Art as he did, Covax very much doubted they would be needed.

The secondary corvette broke into pieces as the Victory Class Star Destroyer slid past, small pieces of debris smashing into the ships underside shields as it did so. Around the ship buzzed the remaining air wing mopping up what little was left of the Pirates poultry defence force. A large smile was across Artorigas' face as the ship closed in on the pirate outpost, only a few ships remained to defend it as others tried to flee. However the asteroid belt was to thick for them to jump into hyperspace, so they had to fly out and that is where the accurate fire of the Sith ship came into its own.

It was more like a carnival game than actual combat as the multitude of weapons across the ship opened up on the fleeing craft, an explosion of colour filled up the area around the capital ship. After a few moments the ships guns turned towards the base itself, the visible entrance was quickly turned into a smouldering mess. But the ship continued its bombardment into the asteroid itself, cracking its surface, no one would survive as the vacuum sucked all life from the base.

"Mission complete, Captain recall all fighters, time to head home." Artorigas called from his position at the front of the bridge, having barley moved a muscle the entire operation.

End Thread

With Taz going on site leave and myself having some writing issues and moving this week, I have just put a quick end to the thread we have already taken out some powerful ships so I don't see to much of an issue.
