"Excellent," commented Sakaki. He took out another chunk of ice. "Now try two."

His eyes widening, but his grip on the Force not wavering, Veith held the first chunk steady without much effort, and tried to reach out to the other. He almost dropped the first as he tried it, and so quickly enveloped the other, not giving the first a chance to fall before his focus was on both at once, and raised the second. His concentration split, it took all of his focus to keep them up, but he managed it, if with slightly more wavering than before.

"Excellent," said Sakaki. For the rest of the day, I want to you continually add to the amount you try to lift. Once you believe you've reached your limit, switch to weight, trying to lift heavier and heavier items."

Veith let the two pieces of ice fall, then nodded to Sakaki. Not waiting for the general to continue further, he turned to the frozen pool at his back. Igniting his lightsaber again, he began cutting pieces out and stacking them up for usage. He then started slowly adding pieces to his routine, letting pieces sit until he had the hang of them, then adding a new one. His mind began to wander as he did the task, going into rote movement as he went on, and on, and on.

As night fell, and the sun on the ice made the frozen ground shine as if it were ablaze, sweat dropped from Veith's forehead despite the cold, glistening in the reflected light. The bead of sweat hitting the ground signified his final boundary, and as it struck he dropped the two ice blocks he had been holding in the air with his mind, too exhausted to bother putting them down gently.

The shattering sent chunks of ice flying through the air, and after the hours of training his natural reflex was to try and use a Force Push to knock them aside. His lack of experience and exhausted state made that impossible, and he nearly fell down as one smacked him across the face, causing him to stumble, and setting the basis for a later bruise. Calming himself, Veith looked to the general, acknowledging that he had reached his limit.

"Excellent," stated Sakaki, void of praise yet at the same time without disapproval. It was simply a comment. "Now, before we get any further into the Force, I would like you to research the Form of your choice and give me your interpretation of it. We'll then put into practice what you tell me."

Sakaki knew the basics of the Forms, but it was always good to see the students' interpretation of a particular form before critiquing. He believed the best way to show a proper way to do something was to work on a previously made association, rather than trying to force a new one into a person.

Veith, tired enough for one day of training, nodded without betraying the true extent of his weariness, although it was clear he was exhausted. "I will do this tonight, sir." Taking the master's silence as dismissal, he walked off into the base to begin his research and get some sleep.

Dawn. It was the next day, another day to be devoted to training. To power. In the end, to Veith himself, for his own gain, and that of the Order of Lettow because its gain would in the end benefit him. The Anzat, having discovered much more of his chosen Ataru style, arrived for Sakaki's tutoring with much more vigor than he had at nightfall the day before, prepared to continue his training.

Arriving at the pool, he was unsurprised to find Sakaki already there. It seemed natural for the general to be watching. Not waiting for his mentor to question him, nodded respectfully, and launched into what he had learned. "I have discovered much of Ataru. It is more active and aggressive than some other forms. It's meant for single opponents. It's very acrobatic, and Force powers are needed to conduct it at all. Me, I think it is a trying form, but worth the work. If you can use it well, you keep the opponent on their toes, and they never get to rest. I think it would be a useful skill to have."

"Your assessment is a correct one," said Sakaki. "All that you say is correct. However, before this can be put into practice, as you stated in your explanation, uses a great deal of acrobatics, strength, and the Force."

Sakaki took out a keycard from his pocket and tossed it to Veith.

"That keycard will get you into one of the private training rooms. I want you to focus on improving your muscle capacity and your speed. When you return, I want to see a person who is strong as a rancor and quick as a nexu." He smiled at his own humor.

Veith nodded to the general, though he did not share the laughter; Sakaki thought himself funnier than his student did. The Anzat grabbed the card from the air, though he fumbled it a bit, and replied. "How long do you want me to train, sir?"

"Try for two hours and come back to show your progress," answered Sakaki.

Inclining his head ever so slightly to show that he understood, Veith turned and left the area of the ice-pool, the card in hand.

In the private training room, he found a number of training droids, with an array of programs to train with. He chose several that he thought would increase his endurance and reflexes the best, and ended up spending the next two hours bruising himself sore attempting to block stunning blasts with a lightsaber and trying hand to hand combat against the droid, on increasingly more difficult settings.

He ended up staying nearly three hours, rather than the two required. He wanted to train as efficiently as possible, and that seemed like the way to do it. After he felt he had done enough, he exited the training facilities and returned to the pond. "I have done as you requested, sir," he told Sakaki.

Sakaki unstrapped his lightsaber and ignited it.

"Now prove it," said Sakaki.
Sakaki swung his lightsaber at Veith horizontally.

Veith's movement was more fluid than before. Slightly accustomed to a lightsaber, his habit of suspicion had applied itself to that as well, and he had automatically tensed up the moment Sakaki activated his saber. As the general swung at him, Veith's arm came to meet it, the blade activating in mid-swing, so that his lightsaber was held vertically, blocking the horizontal swing.

Not trusting himself to outdo his teacher in either strength or skill at such a close range, Veith sprang back, drawing on the Force somewhat weakly to aid him, immediately after he had stopped Sakaki's momentum. He held his lightsaber at the ready, waiting for the general's response.

"Excellent," said Sakaki. "Just by those few moves I can tell you've improved. However, you know my basic moves, so it'll be less challenging for you." He grinned sinisterly. "We can't have that now, can we?"

Sakaki snapped his fingers. The door to the room opened. Another Lamia walked into the area. The new Lamia wore a black cloak and held the typical red lightsaber, though only had one.

"Meet Barrel, one of my other students. We shall now conduct a darwinistic experiment," explained Sakaki. "The Second Order of Lettow doesn't need weaklings. The Dark Lord only requires the strong. Thus, right now, only the strong will survive." Sakaki made his way to the door. Before he shut it behind him, he said, "When I return, there should only be one person left."

The door slammed shut. Barrel chuckled hysterically. Not realizing his opponent as an Anzati, he believed his Lamia abilities would gain him the upper hand. All he had to do was bite his opponent and drain him of his life energy.

Barrel ignited his lightsaber. He jumped into the air and slashed down on Veith.

Veith grit his teeth. He hadn't expected Sakaki to be so ruthless. He could accomplish the task, of course, but he would have to revise his opinion of the general. Sakaki wasn't as similar to the Jedi fools as he had thought. However, it was no matter. This idiot student won't be too much trouble. He's insane, or looks like it; he'll not be great at strategic battle.

As Barrel fell down towards him, Veith brought his lightsaber up almost casually, tightening his grip as if bracing for the impact. However, just as the two lightsabers collided, Veith flicked his saber so that it faced towards the ground, sidestepping neatly. The sudden impact and then lack of resistance would hopefully surprise the lamia enough that he would keep going towards the empty ground. Immediately after the sidestep, Veith rotated his wrist, bringing the lightsaber up horizontally. In theory, Barrel would fall towards the ground, and be bifurcated by the saber. Veith doubted it, however. He never trusted anything unless it was absolute, and he didn't think he would have been told to battle Barrel if he was that incompetent.

As Barrel's lightsaber neared Veith, Veith stepsidded. Expecting a counterattack, Barrel immediately used the Force to push himself away from his enemy, avoiding a horizontal slash from Veith.

Barrel landed ten feet away from Veith. The Lamia used his supernatural speed to charge at Veith. Barrel did a normal diagonal slash at Veith one-handedly, secretly pulling out a second lightsaber with his other hand, igniting it as he neared Veith, carrying out a surprise horizontal slash.

Veith had expected the evasion, and wasn't surprised by it at all. Brandishing his lightsaber in front of him, he was ready for Barrel before the Lamia had hit the ground. As the Lamia approached at unexpected speed, however, Veith was forced to change his plans on a dime. Using an inexpert Force Jump by pushing himself off the ground, he leapt into the air.

Barrel's second lightsaber came as a surprise as it activated without warning. Veith was mostly clear by that point, but his off-foot was grazed as it ascended. He winced. I have to remember that this is serious. This guy could kill me, and he's got the same training I do. As he landed, he sunk low and spun on his good foot to face Barrel, his lightsaber sweeping towards the Lamia's legs.

Barrel jumped into the air.to avoid Veith's lightsaber. The Lamia threw one of his lightsabers at Veith, honing it on the opponent with telekinesis.

"Just die already," complained Barrel.

Veith grinned. He's not very patient, is he? Probably a good thing that he'll die here. Wouldn't want fools like this running around. "Well, someone does have to, and I think you just volunteered yourself," Veith said. Knocking the flying lightsaber aside with his own, he used the Force to propel himself upwards at an angle. As he came out of his crouch, he leapt under the Lamia's guard, holding his own lightsaber at an angle so that it would force Barrel's up and out of his way.
