DESCRIPTION
The BM-357 Python, sometimes known as the Marshal's Gun due to its popularity with Outer Rim law enforcement on less friendly planets, is a long standing design by Blackwell Munitions. Purpose built to serve as a general purpose trusty sidearm for anyone from Sector Rangers, bounty hunters, or locally elected sheriff, the Python has continued to see sales throughout its life.

The frame itself is composed of stamped durasteel while the handle is buyer's choice in wood, genuine and synthetic. The barrel itself, recessed in the frame, is a dallorian alloy nestled against a specialty cooling rod in the center and a vent system below that. The weapon can fire through an entire power pack without overheating or warping, though the manufacturer recommends not touching the front end of the pistol or holstering until it cools after such use.

The frame and power packs are sealed against both outside contaminants and liquids, reinforced for general durability, and the weapon comes apart with any bog standard variety of blaster maintenance tools. The top mount can hold either a flashlight or short scope. Like most Blackwell designed blasters it loads from the side, a pair of diodes on the pack indicating whether it's formed a proper seal and connection. The fore light shows seal, the aft shows power connection, in green, red, or blank to represent success, failure, or a fully spent pack. The weapon's safety and firing mode selector is a reinforced rotating switch by the handle's thumb rest, an illuminated line showing the settings. Green for safe, red for active, and blue for stun. Each power pack is sturdy, and can be refilled and recharged with standard blaster gas mixtures.

Most unique to the Python is the hammer toggle located at the rear, which activates a high-power setting. Pulling it back expands its blaster gas chamber, increases the power flow, and supercharges the barrel's focusing array. Together this feature allows the weapon to fire heavy bolts up to 60 meters with alarming speed and force akin to a magnetic accelerator. It also drains five times as much power and gas from the weapon to do so, largely increases recoil, doubles the cycle time to a full second, and continued usage significantly reduces the weapon's overall reliability. There have been a few rare and highly skilled gunslingers who have become known for quick-draw firing out to near this maximum range to take down a troublesome target.

The Python is a decently common sight in the Outer Rim in a variety of hands but far less so within the Core worlds where such weapons receive additional scrutiny.

LEGALITY
Legal. Ownership of blaster pistols is not restricted in most of the Galaxy, however openly carrying such a weapon in public might be on more "civilized" worlds. On less civilized worlds, it still might draw unwanted scrutiny.

INTENT
To introduce a revolver style blaster with a hammer function to the site canon.

RESTRICTIONS
The barrel configuration is required for the weapon to fire at all and cannot be modified, although it may accept underbarrel attachments that don't interfere with the cooling vent. The weapon cannot accept modifications that alter firing action in a way similar to a magnetic accelerator, including an additional magnetic accelerator.
