DESCRIPTION​

The BM-3KF portable flame projector is a weapon produced by Blackwell Munitions, a division of the venerable Blackwell Independent Technologies which specializes in the development and manufacture of various weapon systems, ranging from small arms to heavy artillery pieces. The BM-3KF is one of their more notable developments, and is both prized and feared by fighting beings across the Galaxy.

The BM-3KF is a flame projector, meaning that it uses fire to inflict damage. The intense heat generated by the weapon is the result of igniting a stream of conflagrine-14 fuel mixed with an oxidizer, creating a gout of flame up to 20 meters long and 1 meter wide. The weapon can produce up to 10 bursts of flame - which can reach temperatures up to 1,000 degrees centigrade - on a single canister of pre-mixed fuel and oxidizer, which attaches to the rear of the weapon for easy swapping. Beneath the weapon are two larger tanks containing an inert gas which acts as a propellant; these must be changed or refilled after approximately every 10 fuel canisters.

The BM-3KF is a brutal weapon, capable of stopping most organics in their tracks and even giving droids pause. The intense heat can't melt durasteel beams, but it can sure as the 7 hells roast flesh and scorch circuitry. Though it is used by bounty hunters, mercenaries and military personnel, those beings who choose to wield it are given a wide berth by most others.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. On most civilized planets, ownership of flame projectors such as the BM-3KF is highly regulated, requiring extensive licensing. Toting one around in public is not advised except on exceptionally lawless worlds, where being seen to carry one may intimidate beings who would otherwise give you trouble.
