If they were going to make a spin-off movie about anything, I'd prefer they just make a film called "Reality Wars" and have it be about a Sullustan named Dan and his quest to pay off his docking tickets and get his ship out of the Impound lot before the storage fees grow too expensive for him to afford.

His manchild Human best friend whom he was cool with in High School but is now too mature to find funny and an interracial relationship with a Bith woman who hates this new planet they've moved to and wants to return home so she can be with her family will provide the stimulus for Dan the Sullustan's character development.

He also smokes Space Pot which he gets from an old retired Wookie named Shreddy Williams, who used to work for a fashion photographer on Coruscant until they she got taken to prison for tax evasion during the space recession. He gets the pot in exchange for music lessons with five credits added as interest so Shreddy can buy the space biscuits that he likes when the local asteroid store is open on space Fridays.

Occasionally he'll help him trim his fur for a space Xanax every once in awhile.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's a Boba Fett movie, but I think a lot of these news writers - whoever wrote the one you linked to is included in this - really haven't done their homework. They shouldn't be calling it an origin story. We saw his origin in Episode II. We saw his transformation into a bounty hunter in The Clone Wars. There's not much origin left to tell, beyond him gaining a reputation as the galaxy's foremost bounty hunter.

I'd much rather see Boba Fett as an antagonist in a Han Solo movie or something, rather than having his own movie.

I think the word "Origin" is somewhat going through a fad and not everyone who uses it knows what it means. Pretty sure there is a Princess Bride picture describing what I just said or something.

A Boba Fett film of him turning into the Bounty Hunter we know, and nothing to do with Mandalorians other then his armor, could work. There's been successful films and some Star Wars books that either don't focus on the hero or there are no good guys in it. But I can also see him as an antagonist in a Han Solo film could work too if done right. That would be a gamble though, to recast two popular characters and do them justice.

i though star wars rebels would of been a better spot for him. I mean lets face it he was a minor charater and a entier movie just for him is insane.

Old Man Boba Fett puts on his armour one more time to deal with the growing roguishness of the infamous Han Solo. Oh wait.

A Boba Fett film, in my mind, shouldn't have him taking off his helmet. Hell, he doesn't even necessarily have to say anything (he has like 4 lines in the entire original trilogy). So casting Boba Fett wouldn't be a big deal.

Eh, I'm not sure I would like a silent protagonist. Him not taking off his helmet is okay, but I'd like to see him have some dialogue.

To me, it would have to be extremely limited. Boba Fett was most interesting when he was mysterious. An entire cult of fandom cropped up around this character simply because he looked cool, and those fans didn't need dialogue in order to like him. So as long as he's a presence and a threat, dialogue is secondary.

I have to agree... Though I was mostly introduced to Boba through Episode II, I did read some of the older Legends books (the Young Jedi Knights series, of which I read through all of the ones my school library had) and when he was mentioned or shown, it was always with this air of mystery if I recall, as he had that sort of mystique. I liked that about him.

Episode II is basically the source of all evil when it comes to Boba Fett, and the over the top fan service surrounding him. The Clone Wars had a decent enough story for him, but Anthology films - if Boba is used in them - have the opportunity to add some mystique back into him now that his origin story is essentially done.

Like I said before, his helmet is his face.

Considering what is now canon, from where we last saw him in The Clone Wars to his spot in A New Hope, there is room I think to turn him onto the silent and deadly Bounty Hunter. Maybe over the course of the film, he goes from how he was to how he is now. To me, that would be an origin story on how he became the Boba Fett in the originals.
