Hera Albion stood before the Holonet among the icy background of the planet Maltha Obex. A grin was wide on her face as the broadcast began. In these uncertain and dangerous times, it was rare for news to be released that was purely good for the entire galaxy. Hera relished these times. Crossing her arms behind her back, her phrik gauntlets clacking together as the broadcast began, Hera announced.

"Citizens of the galaxy! I am Justicar-Councilor Hera Albion of the Jedi Order. Thanks to the concerted and combined efforts of Jedi and independent researchers, a cure has been found for those suffering as Killik Joiners! For those unaware, a Killik Joiner is a sentient being whose mind has been taken over by the insidious hive of the Killiks. Their will is not their own, their actions are beyond their control, and their intention has always been to sow fear and mistrust among neighbors, family, and friends.

"No more will you be left wondering if the Killiks are in your midst, disguised as those you once knew. A way to detect them and cure them of their illness has been discovered. Of specific note of thanks are the parts played by Jedi Ezra Thorne(@Sreeya) and Scientist Mikkial Zapal(@Nor'baal). Jedi Thorne was able to capture and subdue a Joiner, who has been cured of his affliction, and Scientist Zapal was able to synthesize a cure and detection method from his tests on this former Joiner.

"This cure and its method of creation will be distributed to all governments of the galaxy, including the Free Worlds, the Galactic Republic, the ISC, the Imperial worlds, and all independent planets. We know the Jedi are not welcome everywhere, but we do not want to let past experiences provide a barrier to this cure. As a result, the Jedi are distributing this to the Star Guardians so that they may take it, run their own independent tests, and distribute it where the Jedi may not be welcome. We will withhold this knowledge from no one. We are finally one step closer to stopping the Killiks at their homeworld, once and for all!"

Hera knew the Killik Joiners not yet cured of their affliction, as well as Killik hive members with access to the HoloNet, would see this broadcast. Her last sentence would be directed to them. It was a warning, she wanted them to know that she was coming for them. Hopefully, they would recall as many of their people to their homeworld as possible. This would have the dual effect of forcing Joiners to pass through customs checks where they might be identified and consolidating the main force of Killiks on their homeworld.

Or at least, so Hera hoped.

Projecting information loudly was always a double edged sword. It could do wonders, and it could also jeopardize things. And people. In this case, the Jedi saw fit to do the noble thing of crediting those that contributed to this so-called cure. There had been an instance of a Sith attempting a cure in the past, and it was quickly brushed off due to its affiliation with a Force user group. This time it was the Jedi trying the same thing, though they named a scientist.

A cure for the Killik affliction was contradictory to the wraith’s desires. He wanted turmoil across the galaxy and he was empowered by chaos and distress. Raze was a resourceful being from his time spent joined to Emryc Thorne, the most powerful man in the galaxy. He didn’t get there on his own, after all.

It didn’t take long for Raze to act on the information on this Holonet.

That evening, the scientist Mikkial Zapal would arrive at his home as usual. This time, however, he had an unwanted guest waiting…

"Fuck off."

Mikk stared at the droid blocking his door. It was a cleaning unit, one he certainly had little time for - even less at whatever-o'clock it was in the morning.

He pushed it to one side as it loudly protested why he couldn't drink in a public lobby.

Throwing his bottle at the droid, he staggered into his apartment.

There was a man.

Well, a being sat in his chair.

"It's 100 Credits for the full hour." he laughed, unsure who the man was.

Everything went black.

Sometime later...

Mikk was having actual makeup applied to his face.

He had a microphone now.

Mikk was utterly out of control of anything happening for the first time in a while.

The past few hours, he had not slept. He knew something had happened when he had gotten home, something unimaginable.

He couldn't remember.

Well, he could. But, he didn't want to.

The camera went live.

"That's correct yes." he replied with a calm tone as the Anchor asked him to confirm he was Mikk, a man who had allegely been instrumental in the eradication of the Killiks.

"That's me, yes. But, it is inaccurate to say I had anything to do with the Killiks." he confirmed, the Anchor looking shocked and asking him to elaborate.

"I had nothing, nothing to do with this. I am an engineer, not a biologist. I had nothing to do with this, and I am unsure where you got your information from."

Perhaps now the man would leave him alone. Maybe now he could return to his apartment, and there wouldn't be a mysterious figure in his house.

"No. No I am not." he stammered, as the Anchor asked if he was drunk on air. "Look, I am uncomfortable with that line of questioning." he tried to backpeddle, as the Anchor went on to say he could smell booze on his breath.

Well. This is going brilliantly.
