Breaking News! Felucia Votes to Return to the Sith Empire!
“Good Evening, folks,” A human male reporter was sat behind the a desk within a newsroom, the logo of ‘Sixty Parsecs’ visible behind him. Directly to his left was sat a female Twi’lek reporter. “We are coming to you live with breaking news developments from the debate currently taking place on the planet of Felucia. In a surprise turn of events, it would appear that the Felucian people have voted to return to the Sith Empire, sending a harsh rebuttal to the invading FWA. On the scene, we have political reporter Jahn. What do you make of the situation?"

Just then, the holonet feed cut away from the newsroom. Instead, it began to broadcast the image of a Zeltron reporter with microphone in hand, standing outside what appeared to be a government building where votes were cast. “Thank you Wilthem,” The Zeltron began. “I am here on Felucia where the vote totals have been tallied and just released to us, where awhopping sixty-two-percent of the population has voted to remain as a part of the Sith Empire. In stark contrast, only fourteen-percent of the population voted to join the FWA.”

“Perhaps the most stunning moment of the evening was when the Cal Starros – the well-known Senator of Lothal and one of the two FWA representatives – got up and left in the middle of the debate!”
He shook his head. “It seemed that Senator Starros was more interested in lobbing rhetoric and historical crimes at the Sith Empress, than he was in conversing with the Felucian people. Meanwhile, the Sith Empress was witnessed making every attempt to speak directly to the people of Felucia. She was seen comforting the families of the slain before the debates even began, and even spoke to the tribal representatives in attendance in their native language." He nodded. "It just goes to show the stark contrasts between the governments, and I can't say I blame the people of Felucia for voting the way they did."

We’ll be here to give you more updates now that the vote has concluded, but for now, back to you,”
He said. The holonet feed then cut back to the pair in the newsroom.“Thank you, Jahn. A truly remarkable turn of events.” The reporter than turned to the Twi’lek woman to his left. “What do you make of these developments from Felucia, Tasho?”

“I have to be honest, Wilthem,” She began. “This entire situation has proved to be nothing but a monumental embarrassment for the FWA, and it really takes the wind out of the Senator of Lothal’s fearmongering rhetoric about the Empire. We have to remember that, unlike Denon and Taris, Felucia chose to join the Empire of their own volition. And so, despite claiming that is it the Empire that has, and I quote Senator Starros, “only ever spoken the language of violence, death and struction,” it was the FWA that initiated this invasion, and it is only they who are now responsible for all those who perished during this invasion."

“The FWA claimed to offer ‘Freedom’ and ‘Peace’ to the people of Felucia, yet their every action so far has spoken to the opposite.”
The Twi’lek woman shook her head. “As Jahn said, given the opportunity to vote on their planet’s future, can any of us say that we are really surprised that the people of Felucia have rejected the government that invaded their home and killed their people?”

"Sobering thoughts indeed, Tasho, and with the recent statements
coming from Denon, it would appear that public sentiment is beginning to turn against the FWA." He commented. "I am sure this is a a situation we'll all be monitoring very closely in the coming days." With that, the holonet feed began to fade, replaced by the outro music and logo.

Words on a screen. All Cal Starros ended up offering were promises he did not keep. Allowing the Jedi to return to Lothal had been a kind gesture, one Alex thought would lead to greater achievements. Senator Starros made promises to build a fleet and speak the truth. He’d kept neither. His adventure to Felucia had been devoid of any plans. As far as she could tell, he’d consulted no one. Jedi had given their lives to win Felucia’s freedom. More importantly, they knew how Andruil coveted that world. Good men and women, Jedi and soldiers alike, saw their sacrifices thrown away on a political tantrum. To walk away as if it all meant nothing? Disgusting.

Losing a war of personality to a trained Force user was understandable. Giving up because the debate did not tilt your direction was unthinkable. Not when so many had given so much for even the chance at freedom. It was a common misconception the Jedi eschewed emotion. A misunderstanding all powerful feelings lead to the Dark side. It could be a gateway but never an absolute. Control was the answer. In that moment, in the Council Chambers above Yavin, Grandmaster Alexandria Voran felt angry. Frustrated at the loss of life, disappointed in the galactic climate, and angry with Starros. He’d treated the dead as if they meant nothing. So yes, she was angry.

“Alana, please contact the Prime Minister. It’s far past time I congratulated her.” (@lizziie) Her voice was tight as she tapped on her datapad. “Carrick, can we talk?” (@Nefieslab) The Secretary of Defense was her best contact with the ISC. Alex was losing contact with Emil which meant her best chance at turning the tides we the power of the FWA and ISC.

Carrick wasn't paying attention to the news really.

He paid attention to the headlines because they were on the screen at the other end of the room but he was currently trying to enjoy his hot tub in his new private residence. Part of the reason he enjoyed said private residence was that it was private and none of his staff knew they could track him down here.

So he was free to let the news just be the news until he clocked back into work after the end of his paid vacation days - he hadn't touched them for awhile and felt he deserved them. Instead his semi-personal com device rang and he let out a long, slow, sigh as he shifted in the hot tub.

"Reiel sweetie, give me a second."

Leaving his lover in the hut tub, Carrick reluctantly wandered over to his semi-personal com device (the one he gave important work-figures and told them it was his personal device so they felt important) and picked up the message. Alexandria Voran wanted to talk to him, no doubt about the shit show that was Felucia.

He wanted a cigarette already.

Leaning against the door-frame, butt-ass naked, Carrick tapped out a response that he would be free to talk at the end of the weekend and if she wanted to talk in person he would be able to do so as long as it wasn't in a Jedi Temple.

"Sorry about this."
he told her lover slash head of security, "It's just the Jedi Grandmaster... either bothering me about the FWA's screw ups or trying to see if I'm still single. I'll let make sure to let her down hard either way if it comes up. Now where were we in the movie marathon?"
