Breaking News! Felucia Votes to Return to the Sith Empire!
“Good Evening, folks,” A human male reporter was sat behind the a desk within a newsroom, the logo of ‘Sixty Parsecs’ visible behind him. Directly to his left was sat a female Twi’lek reporter. “We are coming to you live with breaking news developments from the debate currently taking place on the planet of Felucia. In a surprise turn of events, it would appear that the Felucian people have voted to return to the Sith Empire, sending a harsh rebuttal to the invading FWA. On the scene, we have political reporter Jahn. What do you make of the situation?"
Just then, the holonet feed cut away from the newsroom. Instead, it began to broadcast the image of a Zeltron reporter with microphone in hand, standing outside what appeared to be a government building where votes were cast. “Thank you Wilthem,” The Zeltron began. “I am here on Felucia where the vote totals have been tallied and just released to us, where awhopping sixty-two-percent of the population has voted to remain as a part of the Sith Empire. In stark contrast, only fourteen-percent of the population voted to join the FWA.”
“Perhaps the most stunning moment of the evening was when the Cal Starros – the well-known Senator of Lothal and one of the two FWA representatives – got up and left in the middle of the debate!” He shook his head. “It seemed that Senator Starros was more interested in lobbing rhetoric and historical crimes at the Sith Empress, than he was in conversing with the Felucian people. Meanwhile, the Sith Empress was witnessed making every attempt to speak directly to the people of Felucia. She was seen comforting the families of the slain before the debates even began, and even spoke to the tribal representatives in attendance in their native language." He nodded. "It just goes to show the stark contrasts between the governments, and I can't say I blame the people of Felucia for voting the way they did."
We’ll be here to give you more updates now that the vote has concluded, but for now, back to you,” He said. The holonet feed then cut back to the pair in the newsroom.“Thank you, Jahn. A truly remarkable turn of events.” The reporter than turned to the Twi’lek woman to his left. “What do you make of these developments from Felucia, Tasho?”
“I have to be honest, Wilthem,” She began. “This entire situation has proved to be nothing but a monumental embarrassment for the FWA, and it really takes the wind out of the Senator of Lothal’s fearmongering rhetoric about the Empire. We have to remember that, unlike Denon and Taris, Felucia chose to join the Empire of their own volition. And so, despite claiming that is it the Empire that has, and I quote Senator Starros, “only ever spoken the language of violence, death and struction,” it was the FWA that initiated this invasion, and it is only they who are now responsible for all those who perished during this invasion."
“The FWA claimed to offer ‘Freedom’ and ‘Peace’ to the people of Felucia, yet their every action so far has spoken to the opposite.” The Twi’lek woman shook her head. “As Jahn said, given the opportunity to vote on their planet’s future, can any of us say that we are really surprised that the people of Felucia have rejected the government that invaded their home and killed their people?”
"Sobering thoughts indeed, Tasho, and with the recent statements coming from Denon, it would appear that public sentiment is beginning to turn against the FWA." He commented. "I am sure this is a a situation we'll all be monitoring very closely in the coming days." With that, the holonet feed began to fade, replaced by the outro music and logo.
