Manaan

It was decided by Tiamat that it was time to start following her own rules. Things were not working how she wanted, she was following too much and though the were promises of great things to come, she decided she was just as capable without relying on those, especially higher ranking sith for her successes. She had made a risky gamble and had it backfire terribly, her theory proven wrong not by just poor calculation, but other factors she still remained unaware of their happening. The interference made a bigger mess than usual, but regardless of what has happened, things seemed stagnant, not just in the Sith, but the galaxy also. The stillness offered opportunity though and if she were following her own rules, they often said to listen to her instinct and swing when the moment felt right.

It was well overdue for a visit with an acquaintance she had not seen for quite some time: Newton Arden. She had meant to visit following Denon, but there were clearly unexpected barriers that came up and things just seemed to remain just as rocky. She had tracked him down to his office on Manaan and made herself an appointment under the pseudonym Anat. She also made effort to change her appearance slightly due to some friction between her and the Republic lately. Regardless, Tiamat was surprised how well she looked as a blonde; her flaxen locks hung in loose curls around her face and occasionally brushed behind her shoulders to keep from falling into her line-of-sight. She wore an emerald sleeveless blouse that tied in a bow knot around the neck, a cream pencil skirt and of course she went with heels. She had to practice walking in them a couple days in advance, but she was sure it would be worth it. Then just for added effect to the ensemble, glasses.

Quietly she waited, bag set next to her as she felt odd being back in society that seemed so foreign to her now.

It's time for Newton's next appointment, with this person now Anat. The executive lifestyle may have it's perks, but it does have a lot of downsides. He has to meet with tons and tons of people. Has to do lots and lots of paperwork. Have lots and lots of meetings. It's starting to get real boring, real fast. At least he still has good company. Newton was wearing a nice suit, looking sharp as a Blackwell Executive should, he was sitting at his deck checking his chrono as his appointment is soon approaching. His astromech droid M7 was at his side, Newton would smile. He would also have his sassy secretary droid L3 with him.

With that, L3 would then go waddle over to the waiting room fetch Anat. "Hello there Anat. Mr. Arden is ready to see you. I'll show you to his office" With that, L3 would then waddle back over towards the office through the white pristine halls, and then show her the door "There you go ma'am" she said.. There, Newton would be waiting, he would have a seat in front of his desk, he would be attentive, he would have his hands clasped.

He's ready. Or so he thinks.

A droid returned to the waiting room and directed Tiamat, or today, Ms. Anat, to follow her to Newton Arden's office. The now blonde Tiamat smiled and stood, walking with a calm pace, keeping just behind the droid and to its right as she listened to her own heels click in sync with the droid's pace. It would be a short walk to Newton's office and she was escorted inside; she felt herself tighten her grip on her briefcase as she saw him sitting behind his desk and she slowed down, taking in how much he has grown into the executive.

The woman smiled, a combination of being friendly and also the endearing reunion of friends...or at least she thought they were friends when they last part. Tiamat sat down in the chair across from his desk, her blue eyes drifting to M7 who was nearby before returning to Newton. "It seems time has done us both well." she started and opened her case to remove her holo-pad.

"One moment we're fighting bugs on Theta, the next you're climbing to the top of Blackwell and I," Tiamat paused, glancing at Newton to gauge his reaction, "Well, I'm about to welcome a renaissance." the Force turned subtly under her will and for just a blink of a moment, Newton would see the red of her flash in his eyesight before return to its flaxen locks.

As the lady came in the office, Newton's raised and eyebrow at how she looked so familar, he couldn't place... it's also been so long... But then she spoke, she brought up Theta. Ah, he sees. Newton would smile as he saw an old friend. Newton would nod in affirmation of her words. " Indeed Lyra. It's very nice to see you." He sincerely said, he would stand up from his desk chair. M7 would then move a bit forward and start beeping happily. Newton too would smile as his companion missed her as well.

The change of hair, was fine. Lyra can do what she wants to do. Booking this appointment under the name Anat though? Seems unneeded but maybe it was done to surprise him. Well, it worked if that's the case.

She said that she is about to welcome a renaissance? She must have gotten somewhere on the Hypergates research, or discovered something else concerning Gree technology. It's been how many years? There was more then enough time.

Newton would then casually ask. "A renaissance you say? You made a breakthrough looking into the Hypergates?" he asked, going with his first guest. He was quite curious as to know more. The subject of Gree technology is very interesting. Shame he hasn't had more time to look into it himself lately.

The woman's grin grew wider as things started to click with Newton; it had been many years since they have seen each other, but he clearly recalled without hesitation about their mission that launched Tiamat's own research. The woman stood up and patted gently on M7's dome and opened her case on a nearby table to remove her holopad. "Its good to see you too M7." she said turning to face Newton, "The hypergates...yes."

The holopad illuminated images above its screen giving a three dimensional view of one of the gates she had discovered, "I have found a small handful of the original gates on systems near where the Gree had built their kingdom, but I have also created an algorithm that has located several others as well as access points."

Tiamat flipped through a few images before pausing on a gate-to-gate access point video, "A major breakthrough I believe, I have schematic to build them, and I have a team of chemists working on synthetics to power them." She paused, letting Newton process and take in what she was showing him.

M7 likes getting patted on the head, and likes Lyra. It's been so long for him, he's glad to see her again. If the droid could smile, it would.

Newton would be intrigued by what Lyra said. She found more of them? That is big news there. And schematics to make more of them? Newton nodded and grinned. He vocalized his thoughts. "I gotta say, that's very impressive. When we found the one on Theta, it opened our eyes to all the possibilities. It was unprecedented... But more of them found, the means to find more, and the ability to build more of them?" Newton would then slowly stand up from his seat while holding on his desk. "That's game-changing on a intragalactic scale scale. " it really is. "Very well done." It also seems that the greater galaxy is still oblivious to the Hypergates existing, or any sort of concept like them existing. Newton didn't know about them until he found one after all.

That being said, what brings Lyra here? Is she here just to say hello and notify them of her advances with the Gree technology? Which is fine with him. Or is she here wanting something other than that? Anyways, he would ask to confirm. Newton would then sit down. "So, at least one of the other original Gree Hypergates you found are functional? And you went through one and it worked? Went through one and ended up on another world?" He could only imagine what that feels like... A ship doing it is one thing, but a person being thrown at FTL speeds? He can barely even fathom picturing it live. And that's what the Blackwell logs he found on the space station said, but they had a bad case of the dead and the gate exploded. But if the others did work, that would gave her the solid foundation to reverse-engineer that she would need.

The droid, M7, continued to beep in delight to Lyra's presence and listened with as much interest and as intently as Newton as she gave a brief explanation as to the progress she had made with the hypergates. Newton expressed his awe, recalling what they had encounter on Theta. The fact she did not have access to as much as he suspected made Tiamat beam with a bit more pride and accomplishment than previously. He started to ask questions about the functioning status of the gate she did find, though she had found five.

"Four...I have found four." she clarified and walked back to her seat to sit, "Plus a space gate." she added knowing that would certainly catch his interest. "The issue with Theta is the use of Kyber, the Gree didn't use crystals, it a synthetic liquid material that I've had to have the xenochemists break down and rebuild." she explained, but paused, going back to how the gates worked, he seemed to be interested that point.

"So once activated, I have dubbed the gate itself the gate access point and there is two ways of travel, one by gate to gate, and second is gate to exit point. Gate to Gate is of course more stable than just to exit without one. The downside to jumping is you cannot just jump from anywhere on the planet, you have to do it from a specific set of coordinates, ones in which open portals in between magnetic fields and the waves in them. It folds space and time to allow one to essential step through a door to the other end." simply put, or at least it seemed simple to Tiamat, the actual process of explaining multidimensional physics was a whole new level of understanding.

"I've done both, traveled from gate to gate, and then from gate and portaled out on some world." she grinned, "Its surreal, Newton." Tiamat explained, it was almost like a daydream to do such a jump.

"A space gate?" Newton had the look of surprise in his face. He was definitely interested, as he considered such a thing like that would exist, as the gates on the ground were already groundbreaking enough. A gate in space? Newton is hardly ever surprised with the possibilities, but that? He hardly knew what else to say.

Her findings regarding how they work make sense, the part about gate to gate makes more sense, that was shown to be possible in the Blackwell logs, but gate to exit point as long as they have the coordinates? That's impressive as well, and she knew the science behind it as well.

"I believe it" he chuckled lightly as he said in response to her traveling through the gates both methods being surreal. Newton would never know the feeling unless he tried it himself, he is tempted to ask. "Well done Lyra. Impressive work." he said, prasing her for her findings. Newton would then stand up and look out the window, his head would turn slightly towards her "You know, it's funny how for how advanced we are today, there are ancient civilizations with technologies that most people could only dream of, let alone comprehend." He was also impressed with how much Lyra has evolved from when he first met her, she has her own team on everything working on groundbreaking technology

Newton would then sit back down. "So, when you build your first working Hypergate, it's a success, what then? Any particular plans" he would pose the question to Lyra. Would she share with the rest of the galaxy? Keep it for herself? Maybe friends? If Newton was in her shoes, he would be looking this for a way to monetize this technology, it would rake in millions and millions of credits... But then again he's a corpo and she isn't.

He seemed fascinated by the space gate and she would get to more on that in a moment as he continued. She even still thought it was unbelievable to the technology that existed and the lack of progress on drivers that would propel those faster through space. There were of course drawbacks to such technology which was one of the reasons she came here, the other reasons was it was vulnerable to possible malfunction as the current hyperdrive technology seemed to have a low standard deviation of error and exit points were predictable, as compared to one way travel through gates.

"Still working on it, plans are in progress since...well, I am having to create material that never existed. And honestly, I am not sure what I would do once I've made one." she explained, leaving out the details that she was nearly done with her own. "What I wanted to speak with you about is the space gate, which I think would be more desirable to potential clients." she started, watching Newtons' reaction to gauge how to move her pitch.

"The issue of course, I am not in a position where investors would trust their credits in my work." she explained, "That is why I came to seek out Blackwell's opinion and where their interests lie regarding this technology."

Creating material that never existed. Gotta love that. Something that sounds impossible, but with diligence and ingenuity nothing is really impossible. "Even Blackwell was interested in the smaller gates." That's why the R&D team at Theta kept marching on, at the cusp of what they thought was a breakthrough, they died Blackwell gained nothing and the they went dark. After forwarding the knowledge of this to Blackwell, they did want Newton to look into the matter, and see if they can find more. That didn't pan out though. "Blackwell would just love the space gate" He doesn't need to explain why of course. "Not only would the space gate redefine interstellar travel, there would be serious profit to be made off of it, not to mention other bleeding-edge technologies and other possible than can be derived from this" It was an end very much worth looking into.

Newton would nod his head as he spoke. "So, seeking investment? I trust you" Having known her, Lyra is a smart resourceful woman. Not to mention that Newton has a whole lot of credits to his name than he knows what to do it. Although, thinking of it, it would be pretty cool if he can see what all she has. "Hmmm, if possible, are you able to show me what you found in regards to the gates? Maybe I could see like going through a gate is like..." He had to admit, he would like to feel how that is. He can only imagine it, but if he could capture the feeling...

She knew Blackwell would be interested regardless large or small, the technology as she had stated would usher a renaissance in hyperspace travel. Reviving the ancient gates was just the tip of the potential that laid beyond and the woman had already started on that newer technology, that in which would never fall into the hands of Blackwell or the Eternal, but it was going to stir talk regardless. He spoke of serious profits and Tia was of course interested in the credits that would fund her own research instead of relying on others.

He asked if she could show him and her blue eyes studied him carefully, the smile faded for a moment in her thoughts before it returned, seeming eager to show off her work. "If you don't have any pressing matters to attend, we can certainly take a jump." she said pulling up a map, "I will show you a gate to gate jump, I would rather avoid getting stranded in a one way jump." Tia sighed.

"We can start on Vrogas Vas." she started, "And end up on Lothal."

"Of course" Yeah, it would be bad to get stranded in the middle of nowhere. Anyways, fortunately, he didn't have any other appointments today. This was the last one, assuming that she is able to give him a demo today. "Sounds good to me" he smiled. Newton would then look towards the door and call for his secretary droid. "L3" and she appeared. "Yes sir?' "Please take my calls" he ordered "Yes sir" To be honest, Vrogas wasn't a planet that Newton remembered off hand. What's on it again, besides a hypergate? Even though Lothal is an far-out farm world, it's more noteworthy however.

"Mind if my little buddy tags along too?" Newton would smile as he would look down at his astromech droid.

Regardless, Newton would be ready whenever Lyra is "Ready when you are. We taking your ship?" he assumed they would since the coordinates for where they would be going on Vrogas Vas would already be on there.

With two passengers instead of one and a child-like eager to show off what she had managed to find and recreate, the redhead would soon take off to Vrogas Vas. His droid, M7 was of course invited and Tiamat quickly started to learn that her own droid, GeeGee seemed to be more weary of other droids. She didn't think shyness was a possible programing, however, it seemed that the little round droid had developed the equivalent that made it act inhibited in certain ways. Though with a firm reminder, the Sith woman's droid continued to help navigate the ship so she could show more of the gate's functioning to Newton.

Specifically, the space gates; they were massive and it would take more research to replicate the technology to stabilize a field long enough for the ships to pass through. She'd hate to think what would happen if they were only able to move halfway through and tried to have find examples of the dragon void run having such incidents, but none were recorded.

Luckily with their meeting in Manaan, the jump was much shorter than expected. The barren world seemed nearly abandoned, life readings clearly minimal as they orbited the yellow, dusty world. She entered in the planetary coordinates, taking the ship through the atmosphere to where the gate was located. Additionally, the redhead ensured no other life readings were appearing on the sensors, as she wanted to any unexpected guests or ambushes when they landed. "It doesn't look like much, but its down there." she said directing the ship to a clearing, recalling she had to walk some to get to the location. She glanced at Newton and smirked, "We are way over-dressed for this." Tiamat looked down at her blouse and skirt, noting to find her boots at least before they got off the ship as she landed it.

Newton noticed that Lyra's own astromech droid seem be slight diffident to M7. It is an interesting contrast, as his own astromech droid is pretty outgoing and tends to like Newton's own acquittances. Perhaps Lyra's own astromech droid's personality evolved overtime wanting to be more protective of her innocently, maybe they get into a lot of trouble, maybe it's dependence, or see other droids as potential competition. The first possibility is most likely. What shapes droid personalities has always been interesting to Newton. You can program them sure, but it can evolve and shape themselves over time as well if allowed. He would look at his own droid, it is odd seeing him, who is pretty outgoing and friendly while Newton is more cold and introverted and has few friends.

Anyways, they arrived to this world, they got there in good time, for some reason he thought that Vrogas Vas was like at the other far end of the galaxy near like Wild Space or something. It's a barren world no doubt, lifeless rock the likes. Newton believed Lyra's assurances the gate was on the world. After her last remark though about being overdressed, Newton would give chuckle "Hehheh. Nothing like trekking through sand, dust and ,wasteland wearing this stuff, right?" he shown a smile and shrugged. With that being said, Newton would take off his jacket, loosen his tie, unbutton the top of his shirt, and roll up his sleeves as he would soon be stepping forth of a planet that is classed as inhospitable.

Newton would take a breath, for soon he will experience something that he never would have imagined.

It was certainly apparent neither of them were expecting this small expedition and she smirked to Newtons remarks; she was glad she took her ship, she was not confident enough to travel through such terrain in heels and without her pack. Their journey was quiet for the most part, a bit of a hike through the stone canyons but they would manage to make it within an hours time. The sun and dry air didn't make the trek any less difficult; she didn't realize how much she sweat through her back, the silk shirt was not one someone probably wore ever on such demonstrations. At least for Newton, the device was already working the last she visited here, so there was no extensive repairs needing to be made.

When they arrived, the stone enclosure looked ordinary, a bit out of place, but that was the pattern seen with many of the rock formations around the area. A shallow cave with no exit, Tiamat gestured to the natural formation. "Doesn't look like much of anything." she explained, knowing he was probably going to be hit with immediate doubts, "Would make for most to overlook it." Tia explained as she set down her pack and took out some tools and her holopad. Her fingers ran gently along the stones surface before finding the hidden latch to release the computer panel and hooked up the holopad to run schematics.

"I just need to ensure everything looks good...don't want to end up in atmosphere." she chuckled to the thought, but it was a very real error one could make. Soon there would be a rumbling as the gate begun to power up.

Newton wasn't never a fan of these types of environments and... he may have gotten to use to the air-conditioned confort of his office, his ship, and basically anywhere in civilized space. Although he had to move on foot during his time as a mere agent, he can't say he was prepared for this. Newton would unbutton his shirt some more as he too was sweating and trying to make sure he wouldn't overheat here of all places. That would be bad.

The Blackwell Executive was trusting if it meant he could see the Hypergate technology in action with himself taking the leap. He had confidence Lyra wasn't going to lead him astray. "Makes it easier for others to ignore it" the less people stumbling upon it the better. Pirates or random passerbys don't need to be able to find this thing by happen-chance. "Sounds good" he said, replying to Lyra making a final check to make sure the gate is good, he saw the hatch that's more-or-less confirmation this is the gate even though there weren't dobuts.

Newton himself would find himself captivated by the gate itself, it looks different than the one on Theta somewhat, let similar as well. He would find himself walking slowly towards the side, he'd put his finger across, feeling the structure of the gate. Looks like normal rock, feels like a normal rock. "Magnificent..." he muttered to himself.

She seemed to have made him speechless when he looked upon the gate. This was not an uncommon reaction, those who had worked with her went through the same experience when they encountered the gates for the first time. The woman remained quiet though, letting the young engineer take in the moment, watching as the gate hummed and the portal appeared in its center. A swirl of blue, whites, and golds as she connected with the Lothal gate across the galaxy. She glanced over to see him touching the gate's structure.

"Its a stone that doesn't register with the galactic geologist society, a different material all together. We were able to synthesize something similar for replication purposes." Tiamat explained and unhooked the holopad and slipping it back into her pack. The coordinates were set, the gate was stable.

"C'mon, lets see how the weather is on Lothal." she said holding out her hand for him to take. Once he did, she would hold it tightly and walk together through the portal. Their surroundings would stretch onward as though their walk were to take an eternity as the blues and whites swirled around them in the tunnel. Though it would seem they would only need to take a couple of steps before the swirling slowed, the colors started to still, and the temperature dropped.

Lothal

Together, they would step out into one of Lothal's vast plains, leaving the gate behind him, but it remained activated for them to travel back. Tiamat released his hand and smiled, looking at his features to see how enjoyed the experience.

"So, is Blackwell willing to make a deal?" she grinned.

It was nice to hold her hand as assisted him into the gate, it was comforting. This is the first time he's held hands with a woman, she guided him towards the gate. As he crossed into the threshold, he would feel the experience, the blues and whites streaking and swirling as they ventured through space and time. The iris would reflect the bright colors It looked like an endless tunnel, it seemed so far, yet truly the destination was so very close. And before he know it, everything winded down and suddenly... they were in a whole different informent. He would look at the plains and the skies. This isn't the desert wasteland they were on.

It was indeed a different planet. He never been to Lothal but he knew for sure he was on a different planet and trusted Lyra.

Newton would grinned as he never grinned before and taking a deep breath, then he would begin laugh. "Wow, that was... amazing. Breath-taking" he said. It was an experience for him, one he will never forget. It's one thing to take the ship you are in to hyperspace, but to walk through hyperspace and ending up on a planet many lightyears accross the galaxy.

Lyra let go, and he would face her as she posed the question to her. He would see her smile and he would still be smiling. He would recompose himself, still having a smirk though.

"Deal."

Nothing else needs to be said. Newton will invest a great deal of credits, very much pleased with this demo. Once this renaissance takes place, the Blackwell Executive can only imagine when his investment will pay off.

One more thing however. "Thank you Lyra" that really was a great thrill, and on the return trip he can enjoy it again.
