Labour was the only major party to whip for this. And as exciting as this news is, some context is enlightening.

That context? That very little about this logjam will change, something that few understand (or at least declaim in public) due to certain aporiae with the political calculations therein.

The problem with calculations on Israel remain --not necessarily one of the ethnos (we Jews are blamed --not entirely unfairly, since we are a very powerful political community for the impasse/consensus on Israel)-- salient largely as to the degree which Israel is considered a bulwark for the imperial metropole. So long as the United States militates for a balance of terror and debility in the region, a tribal Jewish-Zionist state is strategically in the aforementioned imperial interests.

That's the problem with organizing on this issue: the Left --both Israeli and American-- largely assumes that Israel policy represents some type of discontinuity on the part of the imperial apparatchiks. It does not. Imperialism does not require any particular creativity; marginal resources are nearly unlimited, scope of activity is unparalleled. It does however, require rationality as imperialism and colonialism (particularly neoliberal neocolonialism) require the collapse of political economy into a type of mere widgetry. That's what the Israel-Palestine conflict comes down to. American (and Israeli) nerds move about figures and conjure up social scenarios on the basis of a privileged ethno-state because said state secures certain material interests.

It's pure diabolus ex mathematica.

So how to act for change? Largely by limiting American scope of action. Patriotism or foolish sentimentality about America's nature as a force for good in the world (a politics of inane Hallmarkery, in other words) is both misguided (one should take pride in one's community but not reify or idolize it) as well as utterly mistaken (our history shows we have killed far more innocents than we have saved, not that we have ever put much political exclamation on the latter.)

The truth is, Israel is part of an imperial balance of power. That is the penumbra of the terror and debility which I mentioned. And until the US is weakened enough for a more multipolar order to emerge, Israel has freedom of action in which to oppress, murder, brutalize, and culturally erase the beleaguered (and largely innocent) Palestinian people.

In the meantime, I suggest taking up with organizations affiliated with BDS; sanctions can't change Israel's behavior by themselves, but they can limit the political space it has in which to butcher said Palestinians.

This honestly seems like a nice statement and nothing more really. It's also just common sense at this point. Until the bigger powers either take action or stop taking so much action, this mean very little, based on what I know.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, what about the prophecy? If I don't support kicking the Jews out of my country and into their own one, how is Jesus supposed to come back?
