DESCRIPTION
The BW-713 Blackhand blaster pistol, sometimes known as an 'Annihilator', is an unusual design by Blackwell Munitions, designed to fill a need for heavy firepower in a compact package. Blackwell developed new technologies in the process of creating and testing the Blackhand for increasing bolt density and efficiency along with recoil reduction. Surprisingly compact for a heavy blaster pistol, the Blackhand is advertised as a premium weapon that serves just as well as an emergency weapon as a sidearm. It has both stun and lethal settings for versatile use, its high power providing stiff discouragement for aggressors.

The grip is composed of crafted and reinforced hardwoods and supremely balanced, the colour and engraving customizable by the purchaser. The barrel is dallorian alloy, able to withstand the heat of rapid fire, and the magnetic blast cycler compresses the bolt significantly, resulting in an alarmingly dense and powerful bolt for a pistol of its size. This does result in it having a limited range of thirty meters as the bolt destabilizes quickly, but its proponents consider it a fair trade off for the ability to blow through armour.

The real innovation is in the rear bolt. Ordinarily, firing such powerful bolts from such a small, light weapon would result in horrendous recoil. The weighted rear sliding bolt is well balanced with the weapon itself and slides back, redirecting force backwards and then forwards during the firing cycle. This repurposes the recoil to keep the weapon on target, though the action does take some getting used to for the unfamiliar.

The iron sights on top can be replaced with scopes or electronic sights using the toolkit that comes with the weapon, though its short range usually renders this redundant. The power pack is loaded on the left side, which it chews through in thirty shots. The packs can contain different qualities and types of tibanna gas mixtures, resulting in different colours of bolts at the purchaser's option. The safety and blast setting controls are found within easy reach of the thumb, with the safety even featuring lighting to indicate setting: Green for safe, red for active.

The rear cycling bolt is also made of dallorian alloy and serves as a secondary heat sink, linked to a specialized cooling cell and heat vent atop the weapon. It is recommended to force-cycle heat if the weapon is used for rapid and continuous fire at least during reloading to prevent wear on the weapon. Because of the blaster pack orientation it is often carried in a reverse draw holster by right handed wielders, though the orientation can be modified at purchase for an additional fee. It is simple to take apart for cleaning or modification using the included toolkit, but Blackwell Munitions would like to remind prospective purchasers that such modification voids the manufacturer's warranty.

The Blackhand is an uncommon weapon, most often seen in the hands of wealthy crime lords, system officers, and anyone else who prefers smaller sidearms with big punch.

LEGALITY
Legal. Ownership of blaster pistols is not restricted in most of the Galaxy, however openly carrying such a weapon in public might be on more "civilized" worlds. On less civilized worlds, it still might draw unwanted scrutiny.

INTENT
To introduce a premium, lightweight heavy blaster pistol designed by Blackwell Munitions to the fanon.
