Cadu Leszek’s Hunter Armor

Consisting of individual pieces from other armor sets, this suit of armor was put together by Bounty Hunter Cadu Leszek in the early days of his career. Some of the pieces (like the vambraces and much of the bantha hide) came from the outfit that Leszek would wear in his Sector Ranger days. Others (like the helmet and the harness) are repurposed pieces that he acquired as his need for heavier equipment and better coverage increased. The helmet is full coverage duraplast with transparisteel vision slits and a very basic HUD. It contains a faulty filter system that Leszek has not yet had the opportunity (or the credits) to fix, as well as a faulty proximity sensor that has snapped off at the top. A harness made of duraplast plating covers the entire torso except for the sides and area around the armpits. Duraplast pauldrons are the only armored coverage of the upper arms, whilst the lowers arms are partly protected by vambraces that have been modified to contain a repulsor and dart launcher in the right hand, and a grapple line in the left. His lower body is bantha hide trousers and army boots, and is otherwise unprotected; a choice Cadu made because he prioritized the extra mobility gained by not having his legs encumbered by plating. Lastly, there’s a piece of cloth fastened to his back, functioning as a cape of sorts. By this point, it has been shredded to pieces.

The armor is designed to be useful in a firefight, yet light enough to be practical for a Bounty Hunter who will have to track down and hunts acquisitions. It is the armor of someone who is only just getting by financially; full of dents, scratched-off paint, mended rips and tears in the bantha hide, and gadgets that are broken and have not yet been repaired.

LEGALITY

The armor is legal, but it would stand out on most Core Worlds as the sort of armor you wouldn’t wear casually. Any Bounty Hunter strutting around openly in this type of gear on Coruscant or Alderaan would make his presence overtly known to anyone who saw them. On worlds less ‘civilized’, you would not stand out wearing this armor – especially if not wearing the helmet.

INTENT

I wanted a suit of armor for my Bounty Hunter that is functional, has the potential to be modified into something awesome, yet in its current state reflects the state of my character – a deadly, yet worn piece of junk.

Type and Coverage

Type: Medium Armor

Coverage: (Coverage regions for Light armor is 1-3 regions, Medium is 4-5, Heavy is 6-7)
  • Head: A full coverage duraplast helmet with opaque transparisteel vision slits. Vision Modes HUD. Two filters on either side of the helmet’s ‘jawline’ (malfunctioned and redundant) were an addition by the helmet’s former owner; they are now purely aesthetic. Also, a broken proximity sensor whose top part has snapped off.
  • Torso: Duraplast plating covering chest and abdomen over bantha-hide. It sits like a harness, meaning the sides of Cadu’s torso are exposed. The plating extends down to partially cover Cadu’s groin.
  • Back: Duraplast plating covering back and lower back over bantha-hide. It sits like a harness, meaning the sides of Cadu’s torso are exposed.
  • Upper Arms: Duraplast pauldrons. The rest of the upper arms are just bantha-hide.
  • Lower Arms: Duraplast vambraces. Synthcloth gloves. The rest is bantha-hide.

Functions

Function 1: Repulsor
  • Originally designed to counter combat with force sensitives, this tool is able to project a strong repulsor field replicating a Force push. It projects up 10 meters and its limited power cell only allows for 3 uses before it needed changing. The repulsor has significant recoil and the wielder must carefully brace themselves before use- both to ensure accuracy and to prevent the user from being knocked over themselves or having their arm torn from its socket.
    Force User Compatible?: No
Function 2: Vision Modes
  • This Allows a Helmet HUD to cycle to low-light OR thermal vision modes.
    Force User Compatible?: Yes
Function 3: Grapple Line
  • Grapple lines are capable of supporting the weight of 1-2 people and can launch up to ranges typically up to 15 meters away. Once no longer in use, they are detached from the launcher and left behind. While hand-held grapple guns are capable of auto-winching, armor or wrist mounted devices lack this ability. Grapple lines must be manually activated and controlled by a button or switch.
    Force User Compatible?: No
Function 4: Dart Launcher
  • Can launch a dart accurately up to 15m. This dart is filled with a fast-acting, short-lived sedative that can render near-humans unconscious, or a sedative tailored to one specific alien physiology. The dart is incapable of penetrating even the lightest armor, or even thick leathers. The dart has the same practical effect as a medium stun bolt.
    Force User Compatible?: No
