Having originated in Humbarine, one of the Core Worlds, the Carnival is a festive season that occurs in the last five days of the second month of the year. The reason why it occurs in this period is unknown, but many historians believe that it is associated with ancient religious practices of penance and spiritual purification that were carried out by the people of Humbarine during the third and fourth months of the year. During this period, the Humbariners avoided the consumption of meat, alcoholic beverages and other activities of indulgence. This way, the Carnival was one last opportunity for them to indulge in pleasures before the two months of penance. With the colonial expansion of Humbarine this festival soon spread to its colonies and became part of the culture of Commenor and G’wenee.

Carnival typically involves public celebrations, including events such as parades, public street parties and other entertainments. The people use elaborate costumes and masks, which allows them to do things they wouldn't normally do. Participants often indulge in excessive consumption of alcohol, meat, and other foods that were forgotten during the period of penance. Other common features include expressions of social satire, mockery of authorities and a general reversal of everyday rules and norms.

While the festival originated in Humbarine, its most famous version is the one that happens in G’wenee, particularly the one in the city of Lay Pa-Sidian that is considered “The biggest show on the Galaxy ''. Called as Carnaval by the G’weneen, it was brought to the planet by the Humbariner settlers. Over the centuries the festival was influenced by the Arandu culture. The adoption of characteristics of their celebrations, such as the use of feathers and less clothes in costumes, being common to see people half-naked during the festival. However the most important was the use of Sa-mba music, which became a trademark of the festival.

The Carnival of Lay Pa-Sidian is famous for its parades filled with revelers, floats, and adornments from numerous Sa-mba schools from across the planet. The schools are composed of a collaboration of local neighbours that want to attend the carnival together, with some regional and common background. The schools prepare throughout the year, choosing different themes to use in their parades. When the time arrives, they gather annually in the city for the parade, which happens at the Sambadrome, known by the locals as the Sambódromo, located at the center of the city.

Throughout the five days of Carnival, all schools will pass through the Sambadrome, showing their costumes and floats. During the parade, they will be judged by a group of technicians. Then a vote takes place, its result being revealed the day after the end of the festival. The one elected as the best receives a trophy and will be the school that will open the parade in the next.

Being the most famous festival of G'wenee, the Carnival attracts several tourists to the planet. It is the most important event of the city of Lay Pa-Sidian.

Intention: With this article I hope to expand the culture of the Planet G'wenee and to have an interesting background for future threads.
