DESCRIPTION​

The personal flagship of Imperial Security Bureau Director Val Varthra, the Carrion Spike II is one of the three frigates specifically set aside for Blackout Fleet — the naval wing of the ISB. The Spike is so christened for an Old Imperial vessel of the same name belonging to one of Varthra's historical heroes, Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin, and serves her in a similar capacity—though it is over twice the size of the ship to whom it owes its namesake. As a ship in Blackout Fleet, the Spike is a mobile ISB base and office that is often used to monitor Imperial communications and hyperspace beacons, allowing the Director to deploy anywhere in the Empire she is needed or to stay mobile in times of crisis.

Like the original Carrion Spike, this particular frigate is modified to include stealth technology befitting the ISB and the name of the Blackout Fleet. Powered by a stygium crystal core, the ship's cloaking device allows it to vanish from sensors or visual scanning at the cost of limiting its weapons use while the stealth field is active—requiring the ship de-cloak before attacking or risk burning out the device entirely.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. Lancer-class frigates are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess powerful weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities. However, as Val Varthra is director of the ISB, she has clearance to requisition naval vessels for the purpose of ISB business.
