"Ruh, beni gözüm," the woman repeated, chewing the words in her mouth before she spoke as she tested the foreign pronunciation.

"Ve kulağım." Thanks mostly to Arla already pulling the spirits closer, Xoie could feel a shiver over her skin reminiscent of the way she knew the ur-spirits were drawing near. It had a different edge, though, and she took that as a sign that things were heading in the right direction.

"Gibi dinle," she finished, speaking the last words with a steady voice and as if she were commanding something. Supposedly she was, but it felt like she was saying nonsense into the air. She had to trust that Arla was right and that her pronunciation of the words was at least okay enough to make sense to whatever was out there.

"Be my eyes, be my ears." She could only impose so much meaning into the words she spoke without knowing the language, but she could manifest her will around her. Her mind waited like a hook for a fish, and when she felt a tug, the Dathomirian grabbed onto it and held fast. There was a short period in limbo - the spirit would not come but Xoie would not relent - until her eyes blinked wide open to see... her legs?

Standing before the albino woman was a creature of shadow - a shade just like Arla had described - no more than two feet tall and shaped like the echo of fox. But Xoie saw the world through the eyes of the creature, and it tilted its head up to look first at herself, and then Arla.

"It worked?" The words fell from her mouth, but she heard them through the shade's ears. What a weird and wonderful sensation!

Arla held the spirits close as Xoie pulled the creature across the Veil, trusting in the words to do as they were intended. And it worked. Fortunately, Dathomir was a forgiving location at which to practice such arts, but the first tastes showed that the incantation worked as desired.

Look around the temple a bit, see what you can see through its eyes, she said. The Shade was subservient for the moment, not seeming to offer any great resistance to the Nightsister's direction, but who could say how long that lasted.

For her part, Arla reached out with her senses to analyze the connection between the two, trying to sense what held it together. Why the Spirit heeded. But for that matter, why did the ur-spirits heed them? Because of their rite as Nightsisters. Perhaps the spirits heeded the language of the Sith because of a similar earned bond.
