DESCRIPTION​

Named after one of the major houses within the Chiss Ascendancy, the Chaf Destroyer was designed as an improvement to the old Victory-Class Star Destroyer in the principles of the Chiss. Specifically, the Chaf Destroyer is heavily armed with ion cannons with which to tear through shields of other capital ships and follow it up with heavy turbolaser fire from, typically, a trio of Chaf Destroyers. In order to facilitate all of these powerful ion cannons, the Chaf is larger than the ship that inspired it but despite this, the ship has a smaller hanger bay and less storage space overall as more space had to be given over to dedicated reactors for the weapons systems.

Designed to work well in conjunction with the main line of Chiss Star Destroyers and their escort carriers, the Chaf is a dependable heavy cruiser that can been seen all across Chiss space.

However, the small starfighter complement and heavy focus on anti-shield weaponry means that the ship is rather vulnerable to attack from much smaller attack craft - to counter this, Chaf Destroyers are almost never deployed without escort carriers as their escorts, or acting as escorts themselves to larger capital ships.

Also, one of the disadvantages of the Victory-Class Star Destroyer was that all of it's weapons were very powerful but none of them could fully turn to fire behind itself. This weakness has been carried over to the Chaf Destroyer, leaving the Chiss captains in command of them justifiably paranoid about flanking attacks.

LEGALITY​

Chaf Destroyers are illegal for anyone by the navy of the Chiss Ascendancy to own and operate. If the ship were to be found in the wider Galaxy, it is likely that it would be heavily restricted due to it's nature as a capital ship.

INTENT​

To add ships to the Chiss naval roster that players may, or may not, encounter during their time in that area of space.

RESTRICTIONS​

Chaf Destroyers are large capital ships with heavy weapons, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. They may be acquired as a faction asset with staff oversight and direct interaction with the Chiss Ascendancy.
