CHAIN LIGHTNING

INTENT

High to Very High Stamina Drain
PVP Enabled but Discouraged
The Dark Side
Learned from Sith that know it, or self taught by powerful Sith.

To further expand upon Sith Lightning by bringing a Legends power into Site Lore. Also, some more fun electric stuff for Sith sorcerers so they can enjoy their 'unlimited power' fantasies with a bit more diversity.

  • Chain lightning is a more powerful, and much more draining, offshoot of the more traditional Sith Lightning. It was mastered by a Sith known as Darth Tyranus, or Count Dooku. The ability itself is similar to Sith Lightning in that it is both agonizing and deadly, primarily utilized as an offensive maneuver to quickly end battles with minimal time wasted. The ability itself, however, was particularly dangerous to allies as well, making it a power typically only used when a single Sith is faced with multiple opponents.
  • Chain Lightning is a Master rank level ability that can be used to incapacitate or kill multiple opponents. Essentially, the power is cast similarly to Sith Lightning, a concentrated ability that arcs toward an opponent. The difference? Once the lightning has struck one enemy, it immediately lances toward the closest individual. The lightning itself can be chained upwards of five times, however Sith Masters will typically only be able to manage three before over-exhausting themselves.

Though it can be used in PvP, one should note that Chain Lightning does not discriminate on a battle field, meaning that Sith that are fighting with allies will put them at grave risk of also being hit by the electricity. Therefore, it is inadvisable to use Chain Lightning on crowded battlefields.

Additionally, it can be blocked with lightsabers or the force like typical Sith Lightning, and this counts the electric offshoots that target nearby enemies as well. Just because your Chain Lightning manages to hit one opponent does not mean the next person it shoots toward will be effected as well. They might be quick enough to block the power as they would any other attack.

Whether or not the electrical offshoots successfully hit additional opponents, the stamina drain on the caster remains the same. As a result, Chain Lightning is perhaps best utilized in cinematic or non-PvP battles where several NPCs can be effected, as a failed or blocked Chain Lightning attack against PCs can be exhausting, particularly to Sith of lower power levels.

Champions or Acolytes who attempt the power in any degree will be immediately incapacitated by exhaustion. It is therefore reserved for Master ranked or above Sith.

Finally, the offensive and deadly nature of the power insures that it is firmly rooted in The Dark Side.

So after speaking with Phoenix about this and its potential in PvP, we've decided that even with the limitations you've placed on it it is just too ripe for abuse. So I'm going to have to archive this one.
