Chancellor Ro SLAMS Kuat Senator for 'taking Sith credits' and siding with the ENEMY over the New Republic

An emergency session of the New Republic Senate is underway, called by Senator Hedarial, calling the Supreme Chancellor Emil Ro to answer questions regarding his authorisation of an invasion of the Sith-occupied Free World's Alliance planet, Denon. Opening the debate questioning the legitimacy of the declaration, Senator Hedarial launched into a lengthy speech laying out their position, before being supported by the Kuat Senator, Redrish, who accused the Supreme Chancellor of making a 'terribly grave error' in their invasion of Denon.

Senator Redrish, whose world of Kuat receives billions from the sale of Warships through the famed 'Kuat Drive Yards' was quickly lambasted by the Supreme Chancellor in a speech that is being viewed by some as the best in his career so far. Accusing Senators of only acting when 'the media spotlight' was applied to them, the Supreme Chancellor did not hold back. Citing the counter-attack by the Sith over Denon, the Supreme Chancellor hit out at Senator Redrish saying:

"...the good leaders of the Alliance are silent, as were you, Senator Redrish. Perhaps it is the influx of credits from Sith contractors purchasing Kuati Star Destroyers for their armadas that endears you to side with them over the New Republic, but I have no such biases."

~ Supreme Chancellor Ro

Defending their decision to invade Denon, the Supreme Chancellor drew attention to their constitutional position as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces challenging members to no confidence him if they felt he had overstepped. Signalling that he remains confident he holds the support of the wider New Republic Senate, Supreme Chancellor Ro resumed his seat, to a chorus of support from Senator Drast, a longtime ally of the Supreme Chancellor.

However, the support from other Senators was not quick to present itself, with Senator Lassiter, one of the wealthiest Senators in the New Republic, and an appointee of a world run by trade guilds, suggesting that the Supreme Chancellor was 'ignoring the principles of democracy'.

The session continues, with suggestions from the floor that the Supreme Chancellors powers be re-examined in the wake of the Denon invasion.
