Hello, currently working on a new character and just looking to be pointed in the right direction. When it comes to giving your character equipment to start out with I'm looking to start at basically zero but seeing as I want the character to be well versed in treating their own injuries I'd imagine they'd have bandages or gauze of some kind but 1) I don't know what the star wars equivalent for those would be and 2) if that's something I would need to get approval for.

I've looked in the tech section but couldn't find anything in that vein (though perhaps I'm just not looking hard enough/in the right place). Also, as stated previously I'd like to start at zero but understand that roleplaying the acquisition of a bunch of basics wouldn't be very engaging so I was curious if it's implied that characters have the essentials for daily life in the galaxy or if I should specify how much they possess in the way of comlinks, clothing, credits etc.

Any and all input is welcome, thank you!

Hey! So I'm not a moderator (and if I'm wrong, mods, feel free to correct me). However, as far as I'm aware, basic items such as bandages and gauzes would be included in standard medpacs or medkits, because Star Wars still has those basics! And there are also things like Bacta, which is a medicine that kills infections and speeds up healing. It's most commonly used as a gelatinous salve.

My character had a standard medkit, which never needed a write-up; as long as you don't abuse it, a mundane medkit should be fine really. You can even state it's a smaller medkit with only the very important necessities, so no synthflesh and such.

As for 'do I need to specify how much they posses', naah! You can include it in your bio, as some do. However, common items such as a comlink, regular outfits, credits, and so on are pretty standard, and we bsaically assume your character has them. When the item gets a little more important, such as a specific armor or weapon, it is preferable (or even required, I believe?) for PvP to have a write up. Or at the very least mention it in your bio. You can even start rich if your character lore allows for such!

You're very welcome and good luck with the sheet! Also, I quickly looked up the PvP rule I mentioned;
  • "Players may state their equipment within reason in their opening posts or can refer to their character sheet for equipment, armor, and/or weapons. No changes can be made to equipment, weapons, or armor in profiles after engaging in PvP/combat."

So if you plan to use the medkit in a PvP setting, you will have to mention it in your opening post or add it in your bio before joining the PvP thread. Beyond that, you are all good to go!

Thanks for the clarification, although I don't know if I'm brave enough to try PvP anytime soon 😅. I think I'll stick to friendly interactions until I get the swing of things.
