Clan Priest's
"Guard of Honor"

maxresdefault.jpg
Lost amidst the ever shifting sands of Time, none truly know the origins of the Priest family's ever-faithful Guard. The first mention in surviving Mandalorian lore was of At'ma Priest, a legendary Warrior-Countess who established the famed Priest family spear/shield close combat system. History mentions the Guard surrounding Countess At'ma in battle, implying the unit had been formed prior to her time of rule, one hundred generations past. It was common during At'ma's rule, for the guard to wear white cloaks, signifying their pure devotion to protecting their Countess.

As At'ma aged, her daughter, Xa'na, already a veteran and respected Guardswoman, came to inherit the title of Countess. Both Countess Xa'na and her Guard saw great warfare during her rule, and and it was during her time the Priest's unarmed combat style was developed. Although Xa'na and her Guard originally wore white cloaks over their armor, by the time of her honorable death, every Guardsman's cloak was stained red with blood. From Xa'na's time to modern day, a red dyed cloak is required uniform for every Guardsman.

As Priest men are expected to serve in the Legion, it is the women of Clan Priest that must serve as the epitome of mandalorian virtue for their children. Although it is not uncommon for a Priest daughter to serve in the Legion, more often than not, they follow clan tradition, defending their coastal territories and young ones. Because of this familiarity, women often are appointed as Countess of the clan, their wisdom and virtue above reproach. Other clans have accused Priests of favoring a matriarchal family structure, an accusation they have yet to deny. A high percentage of the Guard consists of retired Legionairres, the rest being warriors with little interest in galactic politics, desiring to place their devotion into family and clan.

Kal (Dagger)

Priest Guards are close quarter combat specialists, using their shields offensively as weapons, rather than defensively, as would be expected. Quick spearplay is used to close the distance, both thrusts and slashes commonly utilized. A 46cm phrik blade, sheathed inside the shield, is then drawn to be thrusted above or below the shield in short, brutal, attacks.

A common feature, the steel plume atop a Guard's helmet doubles as distinguishing feature to allies and as a blade when in-fighting and throwing headbutts in the course of grappling and dirty boxing with an enemy.

Another popular technique, used more in duels than in warfare, is the Priest Sweep. Lifting the shield, so that the Guards palm is behind their head, the shield rests comfortably across their shoulderblades. Stepping cross body, same foot as shield hand, the Guard spins, whipping the blade in his other hand in a backhanded slash , shield protecting exposed back during spin, attacking before squaring once more with their opponent.

Trained in the protection of their Countess, every Guard has been vetted thoroughly and most are respected veterans of the Legion. Always loyal to Clan and House, the Priest Guard remains vigilant and true to their time honored traditions.

Intent: To provide a personal bodyguard for the Countess of Clan Priest, to expand on cultural traditions, and to bring back an older era mandalorian feel to modern lore.

Love it. These guys give me an Amazoness vibe, which is a compliment ^.^

Question though: The cortosis shields are not fully cortosis, right? The site tech rules forbid that (hence why I'm asking) and strongly suggest that cortosis be diluted amidst other metals in armors, weapons, and shields.

Cortosis weave lining (diluted) separates inner shield and Guard's forearm. It can resist 2 glancing blows; a direct strike from a lightsaber would sear through shield, buying the wearer a split second's warning before destroying cortosis lining.

To he honest, the shield isn't used defensively, its used to push back opponents, creating distance, and striking when enemy is distracted by bladework.

I put spoiler with stats at end of article! Ty Malon!
