Clan Ramund

HISTORY
Clan Ramund has existed within the sphere of Deucalian influence for thousands upon thousands of years. They trace their ancestry back to when Juuza Alemanii left her clan to follow the love of her life and become a simple farmer in the Era of the Old Republic. However, tragedy struck her simple life when a single bar of iron arrived at her doorstep. Her Deucalian clan, the Alemanii, were calling her home with the Trial of Iron. The Trial of Iron was an ancient ritual in which a Deucalian had to beat their closest loved ones to death with the iron and return to the clan, or their entire family would be wiped out.

Instead of following the trial, Juuza Alemanii defeated her former clan with the help of her husband and children. Assembling the survivors of the raid and her lineage, she founded Clan Ramund and stayed on the world of Eshan, forming a raiding clan on the planet that persisted for hundreds of years. While the planet the clan calls come has changed many times since then, the Ramunds have kept to Juuza's creed of putting their family and love above all else.

Unfortunately, the rise and fall of many republics and empires have seen the decline of the clan in recent years. They pledged themselves to the Hutts as a foreign guard, but a terrible raid against the Pykes has left them scarred. Under their new leadership, Ivarr Bone Breaker, the clan has cobbled together vessels to take to the stars once more. Following the old ways of Deucalians, space piracy, the clan leader seeks to return her people to their former glory.

CULTURE

"Family is stronger than Iron"
Clan Ramund is a small offshoot of the Deucalian culture, one that holds the value of their family and clan members above all else. They believe that their survival up to this point is the direct result of being a clan that not only loves those within their ranks but is willing to bring in outsiders should they follow the same culture as the Clan. Anyone, Deucalian or not, is welcome to become a Deucalian Ramund if they take the pledge of the clan.

Their general goal is to raid and plunder as necessary to survive, keeping their generation ships alive in order to grow their membership. They feel no shame in taking what they want and need from others and resolving inner clan disputes through various rites, laws, and trials. Though most of their trials and laws are based on combat. Their three most notable laws are listed below.

LAW OF IRON-

If a local lineage or person within the clan possesses a disagreement or dispute with another member that cannot be solved with words, they are to follow the law of iron. The two lineages choose champions within their lines, or the two people come together, and strip down to their undergarments. Wielding only small metal rods of iron, they are to attempt to beat the other into unconsciousness. The survivor is seen as 'correct' and their word or opinion is to be taken as law.

The law of iron is not to be taken lightly, and lineages that take it without first seeking to resolve their issues amicably are seen as overtly aggressive, hot-headed, and not to be listened to outside of the new truth established through the law.

LAW OF PLUNDER-

The law of plunder is as old as the Deucalians themselves but exists codified among Clan Ramund. During a specified raid, clan members make take whatever and whoever among the raids that they like as property. However, the law of plunder does not extend to other Deucalians, other members of Clan Ramund, or battles in which the clan leader did not designate a raid. Skirmishes happen all the time amongst the clan and their enemies, but if the clan leader does not designate it as a raid then the clan members are not to plunder or keep anything that is conquered.

Keeping valuables, assets, or slaves from an unsanctioned raid is grounds for stripping of the right to belong to the clan. The law of plunder is to be taken seriously at all times.

LAW OF FAMILY-

Family is seen to be treasured above all else. The Law of Family codifies this as such. If a member of the clan of Ramund is in danger, captured, or threatened with intent by an enemy, then the entire clan will come down with their full might as the hammer of the gods strikes the anvil of the galaxy. If a family member not a part of the clan is similarly threatened and officially requests help from their Ramund family, then they too will be granted the same protections as a full-fledged Ramund.

Clan Ramund is not known for much within the Deucalians, but this is what sets them apart from the rest of their culture. As other Deucalians do not go out of their way to protect non-clan members, genetically related or not.

FUNCTIONALITY
The Ramund are a family first, a mercenary group second. Their function is to serve as the basis for the leading Deucalian clan on the site currently. They are also the clan that heads up the Kougine Lohba of the Hutt Empire. Belonging to the clan does not intrinsically mean your character also works with the Hutts, but it is an easy in for Deucalians to become Hutt enforcers.
INTENT
The Intent of this article is to bring into the timeline a functioning clan of the Deucalians. With this basis, the intent is to use active RP to increase the assets and PCs of the clan to become a force in the galaxy once more. Provided they follow the clan's rites, rituals and culture, any and all PCs are welcome to create characters or join the clan.

Thanks to @Phoenix for the template.

Sorry for the unintentional bump, but wanted to note that I'm not sure if this should be classified as lore or as a PC/NPC organization. Will leave up to whoever reviews this.

I think it works fine as a lore article. Should the Deuc's ascend to any actual prominence you can submit them as an org later.

Approved.
