Clovoc Armor

Popularized by wandering bands of Kyuzo Clovoc Warriors in the galaxy serving as constables, marshals, and and other storied servants of justice, its not surprising to see the species namesake armor appropriated by many bounty hunters and mercenaries seeking to emulate their exploits, or to strike fear into their enemies at the sight of the distinctive getup. While they all follow the same basic template of disc shaped helm (with most featuring a neck protecting gorget as well) and front facing armor vest, every set is an intensely personal endeavor, featuring a variety of set ups, accessories, and personal colorings and customizations.

Most Clovoc Armors feature a breath filter or rebreather in a facsimile of a Kyuzo's standard breathing apparatus. More customized examples- like those worn by many bounty hunters- feature things like wrist mounted grapple cords, dart launchers, or concealed vibro blades. Some trade these tech options for more coverage, like arm guards or full coverage vests, to accommodate user preferences or fighting styles. This customizability makes the system a popular choice among backwater enforcers and law enforcements officials who don't have the luxury of readily available back up or big-budget specialized equipment, as well as with many bounty hunters in certain parts of the Rim.

LEGALITY

Legal and commonly available throughout the galaxy. Suits mounted with deadly weaponry may be subject to some restrictions.

Type and Coverage

Type: Medium

Coverage:
  • Head: Open faced disk helmet and neck/mouth covering gorget or faceplate.
  • Chest: Alusteel chest plate
  • Back: Alusteel upper back plate
  • Hands: Plastoid bracers.
  • Feet: Shin guards

Functions

Function 1: Filter
  • Filters are bulky attachments to a helmet, or function as part of a mask, that filter out environmental contaminants such as smoke or most toxins. They are susceptible to caustic substances and damage.
Function 2: Dart Launcher (Right Wrist)
  • Can launch a dart accurately up to 15m. This dart can be filled with a fast-acting, short-lived sedative that can render near-humans unconscious, or a sedative tailored to one specific alien physiology. Typically lasts 3 posting rounds. The dart is incapable of penetrating even the lightest armor, or even thick leathers.
Function 3: Grapple Line (Left Wrist)
  • Grapple lines are capable of supporting the weight of 1-2 people and can launch up to ranges typically up to 15 meters away. Once no longer in use, they are deteched from the launcher and left behind. While hand-held grapple guns are capable of auto-winching, armor or wrist mounted devices lack this ability.
Function 4: Concealed blade (Right foot)
  • Concealed blades are typically 4-6 inches in length and lock into place once extended. This particular one is mounted in the toe of the sole of the wearers right boot. It is no substitute for a true combat knife as the locking mechanism can break under strong impacts. Still, it comes in handy as a helpful backup in a pinch, or as a sudden surprise to an unsuspecting opponent.
