Corellia Systems

AN NPC FACTION
DESCRIPTION

  • - STRUCTURE -

Corellia Systems is a massive conglomerate company and a Subsidiary under the umbrella of the monolithic shipbuilding Company Corellian Engineering Corporation. Corellia Systems itself has a number of subsidiaries over which is presides. For marketing purposes these subsidiaries use their own logos and branding where appropriate. The main reason for this is despite being subsidiaries The CEO of corellia Sytems, Taman Mori, believes in the power of relative autonomy for each of these companies and would prefer to see them as stalwart allies than as cogs of a larger machine.

Corellia Systems and it’s subsidiaries are a multi-tech,production, staffing and distribution conglomerate that operate all around the core. While their head office is located on the planet Corellia in the City Kor Vella Corellia System has offices, branches and other facilities all around the republic and extending out into the expansion rim. This is in no small part due to its position as one of the major drivers of support and growth during the expansion era before the war, in particular it was one of the forerunners in Way-station design and manufacture being the first company to Pioneer the early classes of ring and pillar frontier stations.

As a result of this and the later absorption of the then failing Corellian Merchant Navy, Corellia Systems has strong ties with both the Corellian Government and the Corellian Galactic Corps. Most of Corellia Systems’ remaining Way-stations are still staffed by officers form the Galactic core because of these ties.

In many ways Corallia Systems’ defining feature is its generosity and willingness to support failing aspects of smaller companies and institutions as best it can. After the massive economic downswings caused by 100 years of warfare Corellia Systems sees it as their duty to make sure that the Galaxy recovers and to make sure that the smaller people don’t just get swallowed up and cast aside by other massive corporations hat tend to profit quite heavily in such times of strife and unease. Similarly the company is as good as it can be to its own employees providing as good benefits and salaries is as affordable and maintaining good facilities and training programs.

  • - DIVISIONS -

Corellia Systems branches our into a series of subsidiary companies and divisions that all perform different duties. They are as follows:

    AGRICORELLIA
Agricorellia was the third largest wholesale food and food by-product producer on Corellia before it was absorbed ina merger with Corellia Systems. It produces a huge variety of products mostly in farm-able food crops but also a variety of complete food products.

    GALACTIC WAREHOUSES
Galactic Warehouses is one of the most ubiquitous store fronts in the core systems. There are branches in every major city on every planet in the republic. The Stores themselves stock everything from food to clothes to small personal electronic devices, truly representative of what it means to be a combination supermarket store. While less useful than a specialist store for specific products the convenience of a single location for most average consumer needs has made the chain massively popular.

    KOR VELLA HIRES
A massive personnel hiring, training and distribution company that was the first that Corellia Systems merged with. This company is responsible for hiring and maintaining the vast network of employees that work over the various divisions of Corellia Systems. Its most major facet however is its training programs. Every year thousands of new employees earn qualifications through Kor Vella Hires and go on to gainful employment. Courses range from security, to engineering to office management to culinary skills.

    CORELLIA SYSTEMS ACQUISITIONS
The true business division, responsible for communications and deals with other company-scale clients as well as brokering, managing and effecting mergers and similar mass-scale purchases out side the company's usual material or financial needs, the companies many consultants are processed through this division. Sometimes colloquially called the "growth" department they are also responsible for headhunting and recruiting the highest level potential employees, often scientists and engineers.

    CORELLIA SYSTEMS FRONTIERS
This division is also called the Space Station division as it is solely tasked with the maintenance, development and manufacture of Frontier Class Space-stations. Once the gem in the Corellia Systems crown the Division has lost a great many of the stations that it used to control before the war and what with the reticent climate towards expansion within the galaxy, the division has seen some major downsizing and placeholder tasks to keep it running with the rest of the company.

    CORELLIA SYSTEMS LOGISTICS
Built on the shell of the Corellian Merchant navy, the Logistics Division is still focused on civilian shipping for Corellia and its interests. When the Corellian Government was looking to shutdown their merchant navy, with the size and scale of shipping companies like Blackrow Hyperlogistics competing seemed like waste of resources. CEC offered to man and run the navy in the government’s stead and incorporated it into Corellia Systems after they purchased it from Corellia.

    CORELLIA SYSTEMS MANAFACTURING
The Manufacturing division is responsible for factory production of widely used generic civilian products. Everything from cleaning strips to light globes, if you can think of a generic household or marketplace item chances are it can be produced here.

  • - HISTORY -

Corellia Systems has had a varied history over the last few centuries. Originally founded as Frontier Enterprises the company was renamed when it was bought by CEC in 6771. It started out as a sole manufacturer and producer of internal electronics Systems for Space stations. The company's founder, Junero Mori, had been an Engineer for 30 years aboard a Corellian Military station. However despite the demand for their work the company found itself overstretched and understaffed. Eventually it was forced to acquire a then struggling Sentient resources company called Kor Vella Hires. The additional access to training facilities and Hiring contacts allowed the two companies to flourish as the galaxy stepped fully into the expansion era.

It was at this point that the company was bought by CEC. This marked an unprecedented growth spurt for the company. With the backing of the Ship manufacturing Juggernaut the newly Named Corellia Systems started to fill the sky with Way-stations and acquired first a food producer company and then what was at the time a small chain of outlet stores. Though the needed supply of their own stations and the rapid spread of their new outlet Corella Systems quickly reached out across the whole core.

This growth was blunted by the saber war. The company lost countless stations to the violence and was forced to focus on their Core located assets. However despite this it remained a strong company. Instead of aiming for net growth they focused on efficiently and quality of both product and store, becoming a staple name in the republic.

Now that the war has ended Corellia Systems once more looks to closing the gaps between the stars and opening up the galaxy for exploration and discovery.

ASSETS

Corellia Systems has a vast array of assets necessary to continue its own function. Aside from the main company listing of Corellia Systems it also owns the licensing and branding of Argricorellia, Galactic Warehouses and Kor Vella Hires. Of these companies each has a headquarters on Corellia though Galactic Warehouses has a larger corporate office on Courascant. Each company has a multitude of massive facilities for production, manufacture and storage throughout the deep core. Each of the more significant of the republic allied planets has a large facility of some kind linked to Corellia Systems or one of its facilities. Almost every planet in the expanded core and even the edges of the expansion rim have a smaller facility on them, usually a Kor Vella Hires office and or several Galactic Warehouse Store fronts.

Corellia systems controls eight of the remaining Frontier stations:

Way-stations 04, 12, 17, 22 and 35 are scattered round the core along Hyper-lane routes.

Refinery Station 13 and Mining Station 07 are both in the expansion Rim attached to relatively uninhabited systems.

Research Station 02 is located in orbit of Corellia itself and was built as a partial space dock to test and design new space-station technology and systems. It has seen very little use in recent decades.

Corellia Systems owns and maintains a civilian fleet for the sake of dedicated internal haulage and medium tier up to luxury tier public passenger craft. The largest of these ships are corvette class and designed to move masses of cargo across the galaxy. This fleet is a hold over from the Corellian Merchant Navy and as such are crewed with precision and expertise but are only armed with defensive weapons and capabilities afforded to civilian ships. The fleet is large enough that Corellia systems only needs to contract haulage for speciality cargo or trips that are unusually difficult or dangerous. However even at full muster it couldn’t be described as a truly Military asset, not to mention the company stalling to a halt were it to attempt to use its ships in such a way.

TITLES
Corellia Systems uses a variety of titles to both describe and organise employees within the company, some of which differ across divisions. These include:

  • - CORPORATE TITLES -
Corporate titles tend to be the same across the majority of subsidiaries and divisions across Corellia Systems though sometimes also indicate which division or if they work for a specific department. For example, a Hire Operative works under Kor Vella Hires an AQ manager works in the acquisitions department.

    The full company abbreviations are: AGR=Agricorellia, GW=Galactic Warehouses, Hire=Kor Vella Hires, AQ=Acquisitions, FT= Frontiers, LOG=Logistics, MAC=Manafacturing

    Level 1 - Operative.
The basic level of secure employment within the company. Above interns or apprentices and operative is expected to competently and efficiently attend to their duties that vary in difficulty and intensity based on the division. Unofficially some divisions are seen as more prestigious as others despite holding the same position within the company. Generally Acquisitions is seen as the highest and Galactic Warehouses is seen as the lowest.

    Level 2 - Supervisor.
A supervisor is normally in charge of a team of operatives and both acts as support for the operatives and as a regulatory position.

    Level 3 - Manager.
Managers are the most diverse position within the company. While any manager will be in charge of a number of supervisors and their teams the capacity in which they manage them varies dramatically. For example there is a massive difference between a branch manager and a project manager. A branch manager may be in control of one or two teams across a unit location but a project manager may run hundreds of teams to control various aspects of construction.

    Level 4 - Executive.
Executives are in charge of an entire subsidiary or division.

  • - LOGISTICS TITLES -

Logistics titles are a holdover from the structure of the Corellian Merchant Navy and as such have equivalents to the Corellian Space Corps despite being civilian roles. They divide further into their own categories Deck, Engineering and Catering. The terms Mate, Engineer and Steward are used following the below titles for their respective categories until the highest rank.

Level 1 - Apprentice. CSC equivalent: Cadet.
Apprentices are the basic position aboard a Logistics ship. Aside from learning the trade of their category an apprentice is tough and trained to repel borders and man stations. Admittedly Logistics ships are not heavily armed but some defence is better than none.

Level 2 - Assistant (Uncertificated). CSC equivalent: Warrant Officer.
Some times refereed to as Uncertificated rather than as Assistants (normally larger ships have assistants) Employees at this level are often in charge of training apprentices in their respective field. They are supposed to head up areas on a ship as senior staff though can sometimes be in a Captaincy role on particularly small ship.

Level 3 - Certificated. CSC equivalent: Lieutenant.
Fully in charge of one of the three categories on a ship and often the ship itself. Only the largest of ships will afford three employees at this level, engineering and catering sections heads plus the Certified Mate acting as ship captain.

Level 4 - Various. CSC equivalent: Commander
Master, Cheif Engineer and Purser are the respective ranks at this level. These employees are in charge of decisions that effect the entire fleet for their section.

  • - CONSULTANCY -
Corellia Systems unlike many other galactic companies makes wide use of consultants as is often necessary due to missing knowledge of various area of the galaxy that are just easier to obtain from local operatives rather than expensive databases. However the main reason for this is that Corellia Systems makes a point of hiring smaller operatives to perform specific tasks, instead of growing its own departments to meet the need, in an attempt to help foster a healthy Galactic economy.

    Level 1 - Analyst.
The basic title given to independent contractors hired on temporarily or on retainer by Corellia Systems. These agents often operate independently and individually though it is not unheard of for them to be in small teams of up to five or so specialists.

    Level 2 - Local Consultant.
Local Consultants are invariably leaders of a small team of operatives and are capable of handling complex and varied tasks. This is the level of consultancy that is most frequently kept on a retainer. For a fixed price a great deal of versatility and problem solving is possible at this level.

    Level 3 - Planetary Consultant.
This level is mostly composed of subcontracting work to a specific company that is specialised in the field or simply far more efficiently positioned for the work. These are often specific mutual one time deals but sometimes recur.

    Level 4 - Galactic Consultant.
These are the rarest of consultants as they tend to be individuals or organisations that represent a level of galactic influence and at this stage it’s rare for Corellia Systems to not simply do the work themselves. In particular this level is normally reserved for dealings with Deep Core hyper specialised companies on the bleeding edge of their field but without the reach or resources that Corellia Systems has.

INTENT
Corellia Systems is designed very much to be the friendly and supportive version of a galactic scale conglomerate. This is supposed to contrast the existing dystopian Mega-corps that make up most of the rest of the examples of companies in the galaxy. Its main role outside of deepening the lore related to business and economics is to act as a Galactic level contractor that is responsible for all kinds of jobs and hires without the normal expectation of brutal shady betrayal at the hands of another corporation.
