DESCRIPTION​

Built on the same principle design ideas as the successful Nebulon line of frigates, the Corona-Class frigate was designed to be a ship that could work in many different roles depending on where the ship found itself. Within larger New Republic fleets, the Corona-Class frigate often found itself focusing on anti-starfighter screening duties or fighting other, similarly sized, frigates.

Beyond the New Republic navy, however, the Corona-Class frigate was often used as the central point of patrol fleets the Galaxy over due to it's reliable nature, it's decent weaponry for it's class and it's iconic nature. That last part meant that it was known the Galaxy over as part of peacekeeping forces, giving it something of a reputation.

A strong initial production run for the early New Republic navy, followed by a modest continual contract for many years, meant that there was once a large number of these craft in the Galaxy. Time and attrition have whittled away at those numbers, however, and the New Republic has since moved away to newer models in recent years. Still found in the defense fleets of numerous worlds however, the Corona-Class frigate is still a force to be reckoned with.

LEGALITY​

Restricted. Corona-Class frigates are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT​

To bring in a canon ship onto the site to serve both as a ship from the early New Republic Navy and for independent forces as well. Specifically fitting in the niche between the old Nebulon B Frigate and the updated D version.

RESTRICTIONS​

Yes. Corona-Class frigates are large capital ships, therefore these that cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. A faction would be required to obtain and crew a ship of this size.
