As Klied burned a hole through each of the two droids, Aska let out a sigh of relief. It was still far too early to become confident in their chances but both the Onderonian hunter and the Coruscanti brawler had already proven to be a valuable addition to the team and she was relieved to have them with her. But, as they always tended to in her vicinity, things took a turn for the worse as Teela soared past Aska in a malfunctioning fury with Alisaah in pursuit.

”Damn it, Ali! What are you doing?!” Aska barked after her, pushing herself back to her feet and charging after her allies. In seconds, the team devolved into chaos with Klied and Poffo chasing after the run-away pair. Then… the inevitable. Zombified scientists began forcing their way from the dormitories that lined the halls, no doubt awoken by both the blaster fire and the panicked astro mech screaming it’s way into danger.

Aska put on the brakes and slid to a stop, raising her SE-45 and taking aim but as Poffo unloaded his clip, four misplaced bolts closed in on her position. Most would miss but she was forced to raised her left arm while activating the gauntlet buckler, one bolt slamming into the shield and forcing her to bend slightly at the knees. Grimacing, the clone lowered her arm and once again brought the pistol up. Two infected had begun to charge towards Poffo while even more were swarming around Klied, Ali and the ever problematic T7 unit.

Breathing all the air from her lungs, Aska took aim. Squeezing the trigger, a blue bolt of energy slammed into the first zombie’s head as it approached Poffo. Shift. Squeeze. The second zombie dropped with a hole in the back of it’s neck. Now she turned her attention to the others that lay between the Coruscanti natives and the rest of their team. Four she could effectively take down without putting the others at risk so that is exactly what she intended to do. Popping off four more rounds, each bolt slammed into their respective target with skillful aim. Head shots or bust, that was the motto of the day for the clone. The irony of how it was here, in this lab, that she was trained to shoot and how each shot she took found it’s mark with masterful precision? Luck seemed to be on her side after all…

Meant to throw a 6 sided die for the volley of fire. Left it at 6 zombies taken out with high success rate. Dice

Despite her attempts to catch Teela, the Togrutan slave remained just out of reach. The electrical charge surging through the astromech was creating an overclocking effect that would take time to wear off. To the misfortune of the group, it was not a momentary inconvenience.

Ali immediately regretted her decision to chase the droid out into the corridor. She heard Klied shouting after her to stay with the group but it was already too late. The commotion had startled the infected scientists. Seven zombies emerged from a large room on the right hand side of the hallway, spilling out from one door. A further nine of them scurried out from a row of smaller rooms that lined the left side of the corridor. The infected began to fill the gaps between Ali, Klied, Poffo and Aska separating each member of the party. This was bad - really bad.

Poffo was yelling, his voice followed by a succession of blaster fire which had taken out some of the zombies between himself and Aska. The clone herself had managed to adeptly avoid being shot by her Coruscanti colleague and dispatch the remaining infected between herself and Poffo. That left the rest of them, which swarmed Klied, Ali and the T7 unit.

Teela, who had not even remotely begun to calm down, attempted to escape the hoard by deviating right down another corridor but straying away from the direct route they needed to take as part of Aska's plan. There were now a total of eight infected, five blocking Ali's route back towards Klied and a further three closing down on her rapidly from further up the corridor. The Togruta gave an ear splitting scream in her terrified state before fumbling for her blaster.

Holding out the K-16 Bryar pistol given to her by Aska and doing her best to apply the aiming techniques her mistress had attempted to show her back on the ship, Ali pulled the trigger, looking to land a shot on each of them. The first shot was a narrow miss with the bolt flying under the infected scientist's flailing arm. The second shot was completely whiffed with the shot hitting the ceiling. Third time was the charm however when the shot struck one of the zombies in the chest, causing them to drop motionless to the floor.

Had this been a less stressful and life threatening situation, Ali might have been quite proud of herself for landing the last shot, but she was still in grave danger. Her way back to the group was cut off and she needed to get out of arm's reach of the seven remaining infected around her. Suddenly there was a loud screech and Teela reappeared back from whence she came. The droid's circular saw arm was now out and the astromech collided with the legs of the nearest infected scientist. It appeared the droid was attempting to slash and tear at the zombie, but it was not working as intended. The Togruta wondered for a second what had prompted the droid to return so quickly, before that question was answered.

In the opening to the hallway right emerged yet another security droid. Evidently the astromech had alerted it to it's presence and lured it back towards the main hallway.

"Mistress! Mr. Klied! Mr. Poffo! Help!!!" she yelled. Ali was starting to panic now. All she could think about was what the others had said about contact with flesh. She didn't want one of these zombies taking a bite out of her exposed thigh and becoming infected. In a desperate attempt to clear the way ahead, she fired off three more rounds. This time, the Togruta's bolts struck one zombie in the stomach causing it to drop to the floor, the ground next to where Teela was still attempting to hack away at the remaining infected and the final bolt hit the security droid in the side of the chest, searing a hole and melting it's internal circuitry, putting it out of action.

T7 Action Check - Minor fail. Teela remains out of control for this round of posting. Minor consequence. Another security droid joins the fray.

Shooting Zombies - One success, two fails.

T7 Circular Saw Attack - Two fails.

Ali's Panic Shots - One fail, two success.

It just kept getting worse. Klied tried desperately to catch up to Ali, reaching out and attempting to grab the alien by her collar to keep her from running off and getting herself killed. That was until the hall was flooded by a small army of undead. The hunter cursed as he tried to halt his forward momentum, but there was nothing for it. He was running headlong into a group of five zombies. He could only push through and hope his allies behind him picked off the others.

The Onderonian charged at the first zombie directly in front of him, slamming into it and pressing the barrel of his blaster to the underside of it's jaw. He pulled the trigger and blew it's skull apart, leaving meaty chunks to fly everywhere and splatter against his clothing. With a heave of his arm he sent the lifeless corpse stumbling back into one of the remaining four zombies, buying him some time. As the other three charged him he drew his knife in his free hand and prepared himself.

The first one to run towards him got a mouthful of blaster bolt, but the other two managed to close the distance before he could fire again. While spinning the Westar around in one hand he raised his other to slice at the left zombie's throat, cutting it open and sending the ghoul sprawling to the floor choking on it's own blood. He pistol whipped the one on the right to send it staggering back and then rushed forward, stabbing it several times in the body before finally stabbing it's head and leaving it to collapse to the floor. Finally the last zombie came for him, but Klied just stared the monster down as he raised his blaster and blew it's head off like the others. Looking down at the other zombie still writhing on the floor with a slit throat, one more shot put it out of it's misery.

Looking forward he saw the last of the zombies preoccupied with the astromech, and took the opportunity to gun it down. Afterwards he took a few heavy breaths as he wiped his face off and sheathed his dagger, nodding reassuringly to the Togrutan before looking behind him. It appeared Poffo and Aska had taken care of the rest. The hunter momentarily looked back towards the astromech, his frown deepening as he looked back to Aska. "Is this droid's brain fried or something?" He asked with obvious frustration. "If this turns into a recurring theme we're not gonna make it very far."

After the blaster fire had settled and the zombies were laid flat, and the blood and zombie goo had flown and stuck to the ceilings, wall, and floor, Poffo did a quick self-assessment. Somehow he managed to not get hit in the crossfire of blaster bolts, nor did he get cut or bit by one of these kriffing zombies. Suddenly, he had a sinking feeling that maybe Klied was right- the tight, sleeveless muscle shirt may not have been the best route for this dance.

He took a deep breath and nodded to Aska and Klied for taking care of the zombies. "Well, now we know what we're up against, yeah....And it ain't a pretty sight, no, no. Those sumbitches are fast my bruthas." He wiped the spewed carnage off his face with his massive paw and took some time to pick some small zombie bits out of his beard. He stopped suddenly and looked at Ali.

"Wait...in the discombobulated exercise that the four of us just undertook, yeah....Did you call me...Mr. Poffo?" He shivered as if it aged him ten years right then and there. "I would appreciate if if you lay off the mister....sister. Ya dig? Daddy Sauvage is dead and gone, and I ain't no gentleman, no." He paused, then continued. "Now, if you call me Mr. Macho....which is a name that I have reluctantly accepted after being bestowed such a name by my adoring fans...." He raised his arm, clenched his fast and flexed off his massive, veiny arm muscles. Making his muscle taut, he kissed his huge bicep. "because I could not disagree with their most profound assessment, Oooooh, yeaaah!"

He figured Klied was not in the mood for dramatics. In fact, he was quite irritated at the moment. He looked at the hunter and shrugged with a grin. "Makes it more difficult, yeah, but imagine the stories you'll get to your little, itty bitty grandhuntter kiddos bouncing them on your fur-pant-leg-covered knee, yeah. There were 65 zombies, yeah....all because of a crazy droid, yeah..." He laughed out loud. "Oooh, yeah, we could sell a book. Maybe have a holoseries and this is the pilot episode, yeah." He turned away, but then turned back. "But your character will need to smile more in the show, yeah."

Despite her own misgivings on the current situation, how the T7 unit had gone absolutely haywire and thrown everyone’s lives into danger, Aska was pleased to see that everyone had managed to make it through the first foray with no collateral damage aside from the now burnt out buckler on her left arm. The pistol of Poffo’s hit her harder than she had realized, leaving a deep burn mark in her new armour and undoubtedly had bruised her forearm underneath the casing. But as she joined the group, the astromech still suffering from it’s malfunction and Alisaah cowering in fear, the hunter’s words struck a chord.

”How the hell should I know? It was working fine when we got here, I have no idea what happened,” Aska replied as she looked to the Togrutan slave girl for answers. She had been with the droid the entire time and though she could summarize it was another after effect from slicing into the lab’s security systems, she didn’t really know.

”Allow me,” Kayto stated, finally reappearing.

”And where the hell have you been, asshole?” Aska barked at the security droid as it arrived, towering over T7 and plugging it’s wrist mounted computer interface arm into T7’s processor.

”Observing from a safe distance, of course,” the droid continued casually, finally unplugging from it’s smaller counter part. Suddenly, the T7 unit’s erratic behavior began to subside. Rolling her eyes with a grunt of disdain, Aska concluded she may well never grow to appreciate a droid… Any droid, really.

”We should be quiet. Who knows how many more of these… things… are crawling around on this floor. Plus that door there,” Pointing towards the door at the corner of the hall they had arrived in after chasing Alisaah and T7, a soft hum could be heard emanating from inside. ”That’s the recharging station for this floor’s security units. There could damn well be a handful of droids in there. Might be best to try and lock it down before they spot us,” Looking to the T7 unit, Aska held a great deal of doubt. The droid had not served them well up until this point. ”T7, sit this one out. Kayto, make yourself useful and seal that door,”

Sorry for the wait, folks.

Damn droid

Maybe our luck is changing

Aska's confusion over what was going on with Teela burned through Alisaah. Clearly her mistress was annoyed by the mess the droid had gotten them into so far and the Togruta felt guilty, despite it not being her fault that the astromech had suffered a temporary malfunction.

"I'm sorry mistress, Teela got zapped when she took down that ray shield and it made her go haywire" she explained with a slightly hurt tone in her voice, "I was trying to catch her to stop her from running further inside and causing more of a problem, I didn't mean to make things worse..."

Kayto set about connecting to the T7 unit. Ali had no idea what the droid was doing, but it appeared to be working as Teela calmed down substantially. The astromech retracted it's circular saw arm and turned to face the rest of the group, almost as if to ask what they were all looking at. Aska then explained about the security droid recharging station and asked Kayto to handle sealing the door. Teela was asked not to get involved. Ali gave a sad little sigh and put her hand on the T7's head almost to comfort the droid. She knew the astromech had been trying it's best but her mistress clearly was not impressed. Aska didn't much like Kayto, and even he seemed higher up in the clone's good books than Teela did right now.

Kayto wandered off on his own momentarily to see to sealing the door to the security droid recharging station. It was not too far out of eye shot and as a robot, he was not at any risk of being infected if a zombified scientist appeared. After a few seconds interfacing with the door controls, Kayto appeared to successfully lock the room down. He returned shortly after, however, he misjudged his footing trying to walk over some of the zombie corpses that now littered the corridor they stood in and tripped over, landing flat on his face. Feeling pity for the droid, Ali knelt down and helped him back up.

Teela started beeping at Ali, motioning to continue down the corridor the party was standing in. Turning her attention to Poffo, Ali in all seriousness said, "Mr. Macho, Teela says the route to the droid control room is this way, we should get going. I don't want my mistress to be in this place a second longer than she has to with all of these gross creatures..." Though she used Aska as the excuse, Ali very much did not want to be there anymore either and looking at the bodies that were now scattered around their feet, the Togruta was starting to have horrid flashbacks to a vision she had on the ship prior to their arrival on Coruscant. The vision of Aska laying in that puddle. The scene was different to that nightmare but the slave was still haunted by the vision of death.

Kayto Seals Door - Barely a success. Negative effect: Kayto trips over a corpse on his way back to the group.

Klied quirked an eyebrow at Poffo's typical odd behavior before letting out a sigh. As Aska set Kayto to sealing the door to the droid charging station he exchanged the clip in his blaster for a fresh one, listening to the ongoing conversation. It seemed things were under control again for the moment and the group was getting ready to split off into different teams to complete their objectives. Klied was becoming increasingly concerned by the type of language Ali was using. She deferred to Aska almost like a droid would... Or perhaps something else. The Onderonian shifted his gaze between the Togrutan and clone suspiciously but said nothing. Before they would separate he'd approach Poffo and give him a light punch in the shoulder.

"Good luck brother." He said sincerely, offering a respectful nod. He may have had his differences with the brawler, and his personality could be a bit much at times. But he had grown to have a great respect for the man's abilities and considered him one worthy of loyalty. "Don't get that mug of yours chewed off. We'll need it to sell this series of yours." He added with a smirk before approaching Aska.

"Shall we?" He asked as he looked between the clone and the droid. He had questions that needed answering, but they would have to wait until the life threatening business was out of the way.

At this point, Poffo was JACKED! His adrenaline was going 100 miles per hour and he was ready to take on more zombies in the immediate time frame. They were squishier than a fully alive organic. Their rotting flesh and brittle bones made it feel sort of like punching gelatin with twigs in it. And it made a slimy, slushy sound that was kind of cool. Poffo wanted to experiment some more on these things. Danger be damned, this was fun.

He nodded to Ali as he loaded another energy pack into his blaster and said, "Point me in the right direction, and I'm ready to put to the screws to this joint, yeah." He was a bit surprised that she actually called him Mr. Macho. He thought it was understood that Poffo would suffice, but he wasn't going to belabor the point. Afterall, he did like being called Mr. Macho...

He laughed at Klied and shook his head. "This pretty face? It iiiiii-us what it iiiiiii-us, and what it iiiii-us is beautification beyond description, brutha! It's our ticket to the top of the ratings, guaranteed. Ooooh, yeah!"

Turning to Aska, he popped his knuckles. "All eyes on you, sweet cheeks. Let's do this thing right, yeah."

Rolling her eyes with a small smirk as Poffo continued his theatrics, she passed the brawler and patted his shoulder a couple of times. He was unbearable at times, sure. Hell, most of the time even, but he had a certain charm. That she could not deny.

”You make sure both of you come back in one piece, alright?” she told Poffo, still smiling. ”If anything happens to Ali, I promise I’ll cut off those little dangly bits of yours and hang em in the pilot cabin,” she joked. Well, mostly joked at least. Then she turned to Ali and placed both of her hands on the woman’s shoulders, meeting her eyes.

”You be careful and do what Poffo says. He’ll keep you safe. I promise,” Sliding her hands past Ali’s shoulders, Aska leaned in and hugged the Togrutan’s neck tightly. It was an affectionate display, one she was not exactly familiar or comfortable with, but it got her close to Ali’s ear to whisper quietly enough that the two men would not be able to hear. ”Remember, we blow this bitch if the droid can’t pull it off… And don’t feed Poffo’s ego. Call him… Shithead maybe,” Pulling back, she smiled at the slave girl before addressing the group as whole.

”We’ll go first and clear the stair well. You two follow and get to the bottom level once we give the word,” Now turning to Klied, the clone offered him one of her typical cocky smirks. ”Ladies first, Caveman,” and motioned for him to take the lead.

If the sight of flesh-eating zombified people wasn't shocking enough, Ali was more surprised by the tight embrace Aska gave her. The Togruta had been thinking she was definitely in her mistress' bad books for running out after Teela just moments before, but Aska's whole demeanor seemed to have changed when faced with the prospect of being parted from each other. Alisaah wasn't too sure what to do initially when the clone wrapped her arms around her neck in an affectionate hug. She had never been hugged like this before, certainly not by any master of hers, but instinctively she raised her arms and gave Aska a hug back. Though it was unusual, the hug made Ali happy for a fleeting moment before her mind was again confronted with the haunting image she had seen in the holocron. It made the moment bittersweet, but the Togruta knew she would have to be brave and overcome any obstacles to prevent such a horrible thing from happening.

"I'll do whatever it takes to complete this task and come back to you mistress" she responded, "Please look after yourself..."

She did not comment regarding Aska's instruction regarding Poffo. In that moment her mind was preoccupied, determined to get this job done so they could leave this place. After Aska and Klied moved ahead, leading the party towards the stairwell, Ali would walk behind Teela and alongside Poffo. The Togruta looked between the back of Aska and Klied's heads as they walked and over to Poffo as well. She wondered how the three of them had met. They seemed to all get on well together, even if Aska wasn't particularly courteous to them. Ali was reminded of the time that she first met Quinri and Deskar, Aska's friends back on Nar Shaddaa. For their sake's and Aska's, Ali would need to do what she could to save them from a similar fate in this cursed laboratory.

As instructed, when the group reached the stairwell, Ali kept back with Teela and Poffo to enable the experienced shooters to clear the way ahead.

Klied watched as the ladies said their own farewells to each other, then walked beside Aska as the two of them took the lead. He kept his blaster in hand, eyes scanning for any more ghouls that might have been waiting to ambush them on the current floor. Their intelligence hadn't impressed him so far, but he still wasn't certain what they were capable of. Fortunately it seemed the ones they faced in the first hallway were the only ones alerted to their presence.

As the two continued making their way to the stairwell Klied glanced back at the others before speaking to Aska in a hushed tone. "I have to say I'm curious to find out what the hell your family was doing with samples of AMS." He said thoughtfully. If this was a cloning facility as Aska said, that suggested they might have been attempting to create a cure and were using cloned subjects for human testing. A grim possibility. Of course there were worse things that they could have been doing with the virus. "Is this Trench guy the mad scientist type or the kind of guy you see at the doctor's office?" He realized Aska seemed somewhat guarded about this place and her history here, but if they were going to try and recover this man he would like to know what to expect from him. If he was even still alive.

Once they made it to the stairwell Klied would quietly approach the railing and peek over the side. Down the flight of stairs he could see three more of the shambling monsters idling about on the stairs. They weren't aware of their presence yet. Turning back to Aska he raised a finger to his lips to make a "Shh" sound, then slowly drew his dagger while holstering his blaster. Better to do this quietly if possible. He would then suddenly leap over the railing, falling down towards the zombies below. He landed directly atop one of them, and as it collapsed his foot would press it's face into one of the steps, crushing it and killing the creature. The other two groaned and started to haphazardly stumble up the stairs towards him. Klied acted quickly, standing and jumping towards the wall off the side of the staircase. Pressing off the wall with his foot he swung his right fist around, hitting the ghoul square on the jaw and sending it hurdling over the railing the rest of the way down the stairs to the bottom level with a sickening splat. It seemed those lessons with Poffo were already paying off, the bounty hunter thought to himself as he landed on his feet with a smirk.

The last remaining zombie attempted to grab at him, but Klied responded by planting his dagger square in it's softened forehead before putting his boot on it's chest and kicking it down the stairs. He wiped his knife on his pantleg before returning it to it's sheath, then looked up the stairwell towards Aska and raised a hand, giving her the 'OK' sign, signifying the way was clear.

The bearded brawler nodded as Klied seemed to have cleared the stairwell. He looked back at Ali motioned with his head to follow. "Here we go...This is why we get paid the big bucks, yeah." He stopped and looked at Klied and then to Aska. "Actually...have we discussed the dues of deliverance if you dig?" He pretended as if he was not going to go further until such a question was answered, but he smiled and headed down the stairwell. The door had to be manipulated, so the braindead undead on the opposite side had not figured out how to open it yet. He could hear the clawing of fingernails on the other side of the door and moaning. A few fists pounded against the otherside. They were ready to gnaw on brains, and they knew there was dinner that was so, so close.

Poffo popped his neck and his knuckles again. He knew the undead were on the other side of that door. What he didn't know was how many. There could be upwards of 10, 20....who knows how many zombies? The prospects of getting overrun by a horde of the living dead was a very real possibility. He looked back at Ali and said, "I don't know what we're doing here, I sure don't...but I hope it's worth it." He made sure the energy pack on his blaster was clicked in tightly and had its full compliment of shots. He made a snarling face to get rid and said, "Here we go.....Ooooh, yeah!"

Poffo hit the buttons to open the door and there were four zombies in security gear fighting and clawing their way to get to the Coruscanti and the Togruta. Poffo's left hand was lightning fast and just as the door had enough room for his fist, he saw the first pale, zombified face and smashed his spiked knuckle dusters into it right above the nose. As the knuckles withdrew, one of the spikes had an eye stuck on it with a stringy, gooey mess of optic nerves trailing behind. He gave a sidekick to the next closest one and then used a spinning hammerfist to avoid a scratching swipe by the third and planting the spiked knuckles deep into the forehead of the fourth dropping him fast.

The one that scratched at Poffo and missed kept his momentum going toward Ali, his new target. Poffo quickly drew his blaster and shot, but his aim wasn't spot on. He hit the zombie in the spine just above the pelvis. It hit the floor in a heap and was paralyzed from the waist down, but continued dragging himself, pulling himself toward the Togruta with his massive arm muscles at a surprising rate of speed.

Poffo had to assume she could cover that, and besides, the one Sauvage sidekicked was sprinting at him and ready for blood. Again Poffo raised the blaster and shot. He hit it in the gut, but it didn't even slow the roid-rage zombie a bit. Poffo ducked under his arms, sidestepped slightly and delivered a huge knee to the gut. Between the force and massiveness of Poffo and the force and massiveness of the hulking zombie, the undead security guard did a full flip in the air and landed on his back. Poffo quickly pointed his blaster at the zombie and his remaining four shots into the zombie, two of them hitting him in the head. He looked up to check on Ali and the arm-dragging zombie to see if he needed to intervene...

Rolls 4 Security Guard Zombies - 67 out of 100 on how well Poffo handles business - Everything goes as planned.

As Klied, Kayto and Aska made their way to the stairwell, the silence of the facility began to gnaw at her. The majority of her life had been spent in these halls and even during the earliest hours of the day, they were never this quiet. Droids would constantly be on patrol or carrying on with the research of their human masters and since they were so far from the surface and the light of the sun, many of the scientists natural sleep cycle was torn from them, leaving them to wander the corridors at unnatural hours as well.

”Trench? The guy is all numbers,” Aska recanted to Klied as they approached the stairwell. Her memories of the scientists weren’t fond ones, his constant detachment to her up-bringing and numerous fatal threats he would subjugate her too dictated much of what she felt of the man. Despite that, however, she couldn’t deny that he was good at what he did. ”Ever since I was… born, he’d only left this place a handful of times. His work always has been the only thing that mattered to him,” Chuckling at the thought that had he been a bit more open to living a regular life, he may well have been on the surface and away from this place when the virus began to take hold. Still, Klied’s curiosity of just what it was that Trench was doing with samples of AMS wasn’t exclusive to him alone. She also couldn’t help but wonder if he was perhaps working towards a cure. Unlikely, but why else would he have obtained it?

Watching as Klied tore through the trio of AMS victims at the second floor landing, Aska smirked and plucked a cigarra from the pack she had tucked beneath the chest plate of her armor. If he wanted to take the risk, she would let him As the man wiped off his blade, however, she raised her eyebrow in concern.

”Better hope you don’t get a cut near that stain, pal. I’d hate to have to cut your leg off and carry you out of here,” Aska joked as she arrived at the carnage he had delivered. Opening the door to the second level, she poked her head inside and saw the ambient glow of the ray shield separating the security checkpoint from the rest of the floor. ”Kayto, you’re up. Slice that terminal and get these shields down,”

”I am a security droid, not a computer specialist,” the droid complained as he stepped over the corpses. Growling, Aska pointed to the security desk without saying a word. Shaking his head, the droid complied.

Seconds passed. Then turned to minutes. Then as she scanned over her SE-45, replacing the energy cell with a fresh one, Aska was snapped back to the moment when the security alarm began to blare.

”The hell did you do?!”

”I tried to tell you! I’m not designed for this!” Kayto stated as he tried to shut down the alarm. ”I’m locked out! I cannot deactivate the alarm!”

Droids, and likely zombies, would soon be moving in on them. The ray shield would keep the organic threats at bay but the droids? They needed a new route…

”Klied! Shut the door to the stair well!” Aska barked as she pulled the lightsaber from her belt once again and moving passed the droid into the security office. They couldn’t let any droids through that would flank Poffo and Ali. Even if Klied and Aska were overwhelmed and couldn’t make it out, it was imperative that they at least succeeded in cleansing the virus from the lab.

”What are you going to do?” Kayto queried.

”Cutting us a new door! The walls down here are thick and it’s going to take some time! Help Klied and cover me!”

The Togruta wasn't filled with confidence as Poffo readied himself to fight a fresh cohort of infected. If he didn't understand why he was there, she had to assume that he had some kind of death wish to agree to come down here without good reason. Ali had to ask herself, if she were a free person, would she have come down here with Aska and the others? The image of her mistress laying in that puddle in the vision continued to flash in her mind. The holocron bothered her greatly. She remembered how horrid she felt seeing it in the vision and how upset she was. Despite not fully understanding herself why they had come to this place, Ali knew it was important to Aska, and though she was a slave, the dancer-turned-mercenary realised that she would still have come for the clone's sake if it would save her from certain doom. She just prayed that her mistress and Klied would be okay now the team had split up.

Having reached the lowest floor, the sounds of combat could be seen and heard once again as Poffo unleashed his brawling power upon the zombies that scrabbled to get to them through the entrance. Ali had to admire Poffo's skill in hand to hand combat, but she was concerned that the brutal and savage nature with which he was dispatching these infected was also rather dangerous. Whilst it was disgusting enough to watch him rip out another living being's eye from it's socket, the amount of blood spilling from that particular blow was problematic.

"Hey, Mr. ... uh... Shithead? Please be careful. Mr. Klied said that if we get bitten we might catch this disease. If you get too much blood on you and sustain an injury you might become infected" she called, feeling a little awkward referring to Poffo as the name her mistress had suggested. It wasn't in her nature to be insulting.

As Poffo was thumping away at the zombies, one of the infected managed to miss and stumble past him. The Coruscanti tried to rectify this by shooting it in the back, paralyzing it, but unfortunately it did not finish off the cursed creature. It continued crawling up the stairs towards Ali, intent on getting a mouthful of flesh. Though she raised her blaster to shoot, Teela rushed forward with it's hack saw at the ready once more attempting to finish off the crawler. Unfortunately the droid's attempt to slice at the infected was stopped when the zombie grabbed the saw arm, causing a grapple to ensue. Taking aim at the crawler, Ali took a shot at it whilst it was distracted. The blaster bolt went through its collar bone and through it's chest causing it to drop dead.

"Hm... mistress' lessons seem to be working..." she shrugged, stepping delicately over the zombie and heading down to join Poffo who had expertly eliminated the immediate threat. Towards the end of the corridor ahead of them there was another security checkpoint next to the ray shielded door blocking them off from the bottom floor. Teela rolled over and connected to a terminal. Seconds later the ray shield came down and astromech trundled back out to Ali and Poffo, cheerfully chirping away to itself. It appeared the droid was pleased as it had been so successful in deactivating the barrier, that it had managed to find and shut off all other ray shields on this floor. The Togruta placed a red hand atop the droid's head and tapped it, commending Teela for the work she had done.

Suddenly off in the distance, Ali could hear a concerning ringing noise. The Togruta felt a pang of anxiety. It had to be coming from the second level, as they would have been able to hear any loud noises down here. Looking back down the corridor and towards the stairs they had just come down, Ali felt helpless once more, "M- mistress?..." The slave desperately hoped that Aska was not in any serious danger up there.

Teela fails to kill crawler
Ali successfully kills the crawler
Teela finally gets a good roll - Rousing success - everything goes better than expected. Teela shuts down all ray shields on the lower floor.

Aska's answer to his questions wasn't all that enlightening, but then she was giving the impression she had been fairly young during her time here, it made enough sense that her knowledge was limited. Klied simply nodded to Poffo with a grin as the brawler and Togruta passed him on the stairs. At Aska's remarks about possibly having to cut his leg off the hunter just gave her a sly look.

"Carry me?" He asked, his grin widening a bit. "I'll have to try harder to get bitten." He joked in return before following her to the security checkpoint. While Kayto got to work on the terminal the Onderonian walked forward to stand just a few feet behind the ray shield, keeping lookout. He stood silently for a good minute waiting for the droid before Aska's previous warning started to nag at the back of his mind. As KAyto continued to delay them he pulled a handkerchief out of his back pocket and started to rub at some of the gore that had collected on his clothing since their arrival, trying to clean some of it off. The woman had a point after all. He didn't want to survive this place just to get infected because of something stupid like that. That's when the alarm went off.

Initially Klied jumped from the unexpected blaring and looked over his shoulder. Aska was already arguing with the droid. Klied sighed and was about to cut in when he heard a thump from behind him. Turning around again he cursed and took a step back as he saw a zombie pressing it's body desperately against the ray shield, skin sizzling as it tried to get at them.

"Klied! Shut the door to the stairwell!" He heard Aska shout, and quickly went about doing so. It wasn't difficult to understand the meaning behind the order. They had to keep each area of the facility contained. Of course it didn't help that he didn't know much of anything about slicing. All he could do was lock the door, which the droids would be able to unlock easily enough if they got past them. In the end Klied just raised his foot and gave two swift kicks to the door's console, breaking it and sealing them in. He figured that if it came to it they could just cut their way out with Aska's lightsaber later. Looking back he could now see a handful of zombies stacked up at the shield, and three more security droids incoming. With Aska cutting them an exit it was up to him and Kayto to hold off the machines for however long it took.

Klied stood his ground and raised his blaster, ready to respond the moment they passed through the shield, just as before. "Keep your distance from the ray shield!" He ordered Kayto. "I got it." Just as before the hunter maintained a calm and controlled demeanor as each of the security droids slowly passed through the ray shield to attack, blasting each one the moment it crossed the threshold without giving it the opportunity to fire. After three distinct piles of scrap collapsed on the floor the hunter sighed and glanced in Aska's direction, trying to see how much progress she had made. He would only spare a glance though before turning his attention back to the shield, ready to drop anything else that slipped through. The droids didn't seem to be that much of an issue, but the growing throng of zombies pressing themselves against the shield certainly was...

The Togruta handled herself well and eliminated the walker pulling dragging itself toward her with its massive arms. He was glad for that, but he spun in a 360 twice with his arms out, fingers flourishing, his knees slightly bent as he acted dismayed. "What did I hear, yeah? What were the sounds that create the very meaning of our language that were uttered from those lips? Did Mr. Macho hear certains word come out of that mouth of yours that would be considered quite insulting and derogatory toward the Madness?!? Yeah...yeah, I think I did..." He visibly calmed himself down with some deep breaths and some pacing. "Ok, ok. I think I know what happened...yeah...yeah, I do." He pointed upstairs a level. "That little piece of heat friend of yours put you up to it I bet, yeah." He held out a hand and nodded, convincing himself. "Lucky you're not a To-dude-ta, yeah...Let's just leave it at that, yeah."

Poffo could hear the ruckus in the floor above them and saw the worry in Ali's face. "Don't you worry about those two upstairs, no, no. If one of them dies, it will because Aska killed Klied, if ya dig that. They'll be right as the rain, sure will."

There was one more door. The ray shield was down, but the blast door was still closed. Sauvage put his ear to the door, but it was eerily silent. The blast door was thick and even if something was pounding on the other side, Poffo wouldn't be able to hear it. Whatever was behind this door necessitated a heavy duty blast door, so Poffo once again popped his neck and his knuckles. He hit the button and stepped back. The door open and seven zombies came clamoring at him. Luckily they couldn't hear what was going on in their room either, so they were relatively spread out, giving Poffo time to handle to handle the first one with some thought. Mr. Macho sidestepped the closest zombie that closed the distance fast, but tucked a hard right hook into the zombie's throat and blood started to squirt out like a geyser as the artery of the monster was punctured by the spiked knuckles. When Poffo tried to pull his hand out of the zombie's throat, it was stuck there. He looked and the zombie was dead. He must have broken his neck in the process, cutting the spinal cord.

Poffo had one problem in a sense- he was stuck to a zombie. On the good end of the spectrum, Poffo was able to use the zombie as a shield as the other six were not sprinting at him to get a bite of flesh. With the strength that few humans could muster, Sauvage picked the dead-undead up and held him horizontally. He was successfully able to push the remaining six zombies back into the wall. They were strong, AMS-fed zombies, but Poffo was strong too- he was the type of human that AMS was trying to create- and he had a massive amount of adrenaline flowing through his blood.

The AMS zombies tried to claw and bite at Poffo, but the Coruscanti was able to keep them at bay with the corpse of the...corpse. Poffo pulled out his DT-29 and dropped the remaining six at point blank range right in the head. They all fell at his feet in a corner of the corridor by the door that led to the third floor proper. Poffo stood over them as if they could hear and see his taunting and finger flourished. "OOOOOH, YEEEAAAH!! Yeah, you thought you had the drop on Mr. Macho didn't ya, dead man! Huh? But now, look at you, yeah! You're all crumpled like a corpse, yes you are. You are just as dead as great granny, yeah! Tell all your buddies in the afterlife that you got to see what the madness is all about! Yeah!"

He pointed at Ali and gave her a long stare of victory before saying, "Yeah! What do we think of Mr. Shithead now? Yeah! The man, the myth....the MADNESS, Oooooh yeaaah!"

Roll post: Roll 1- 7 zombies in the room. (7 out of 10) Roll 2- The droids don't attack us. (didn't fail the roll attempt) Roll 3- Macho unleashes the maddness. (88 out of 100)

As the crimson blade sunk into the steel wall, separating it from itself in an amber glow of molten metal, Aska gritted her teeth and pulled the weapon along slowly, steadily. Blaster fire began to echo from the hall outside the security checkpoint and she knew then that the droids were beginning to make their way through. If she remembered correctly, the position she was cutting through was directly opposite the doorway that led into the droid charging station for this level and with luck, her plan would take a few out. The sounds of clammering on the opposite side of the wall soon told her that a collection of undead had also appeared, desperate to make their way inside their sanctuary. It was now or never and as the blade finally completed the circle, Aska stepped back before switching the saber to her left hand and raising her right to point at the hole she had cut, the piece of steel still in the center.

”Let’s see if this suit was worth the money,” she muttered to herself before bracing both feet in position and squeezing the palm mounted activation plate. Just as she did so, the repulsor field tossed the steel plate from it’s position and slamming it into the opposite side of the hall behind it, missing the doorway into the charging station. Aska stood there, stunned, as her arm remained in position. ”Woah…”

Stepping out into the hall, blood seeped across the floor while the odd twitching hand could be seen from behind the plate. Filled with pride, Aska turned her attention to the droid charging station and peered inside. Nothing. None of the droid units were inside, meaning they were dispersed around the entire floor.

”Alright you two, c’mon!” she called to Klied and Kayto. The shields of the second floor remained active but with any luck, the droid could slice into each one individually through the security ports in the halls. If not, well… there was a lot of cutting ahead of them.

The outcome of addressing Poffo as "Mr. Shithead" had devastating consequences for the seven undead scientists that had been scrambling to get at the organics behind the blast door. In fact Ali, who seemed to have been told off in Poffo's own way, was now quite scared of the crazed Coruscanti. Apparently it was only his own chivalry preventing Poffo from lashing out at her for insulting him and judging from the horror she witnessed when the blast door finally opened, the Togruta made a mental note to avoid getting on his bad side, at least whilst Aska wasn't there.

Poffo's onslaught picked up in much the same way as the last encounter - with his fists - but clearly he had been so distracted by being called "shithead" that he hadn't heard Ali's previous warning about blood splatter. The hunter now had one of his fists buried deep inside one of the zombie's nervous systems and was utilising it as a makeshift shield. After successfully dispatching all the infected at the door without Ali's help, the self-proclaimed macho man stood in the doorway raving like a lunatic.

"I... I think maybe you should calm down" was her response, "If you keep shouting you're going to draw attention to us... And you should maybe not stick your hands inside those things. Their bodily fluids transmit the disease..."

As Ali finished talking, Teela moved forward towards the blast door and intentionally knocked into Poffo's leg on her way past. Clearly the astromech was not impressed by his hot dogging and grandstanding. Ali followed after the droid, waving for Poffo to join them. Their target was not all that far away now and as the T7 droid had done such a great job lowering the ray shields all that would stand in their way, was hostile droids and the undead.

Opposite the entrance to the bottom floor, there was another room which like all the others, was now open. To ensure that they would not be flanked by more zombies, Ali peered inside and to her relief found nothing. The Ventilation Control room was devoid of zombies. Teela's head spun 180 degrees back towards the Togruta and Poffo, beeping at them to indicate that they now needed to follow the corridor around to the right.

Klied continued holding the line while Aska finished making a new exit for them. Thankfully no more droids seemed to be arriving. In the meantime more and more zombies were pressing up against the ray shield trying to get at them. It looked like there were over a dozen at this point, all of them staring at Klied with ravenous eyes and gnashing their rotted teeth. It made even the seasoned hunter feel a bit uneasy.

"Alright you two, c'mon!" Aska finally called out to them, and Klied wasted no time in following, with Kayto right behind. The zombies remained there even as they departed, uselessly pressing themselves into the heated shield and searing off their own flesh.

"Ever consider becoming a renovator?" He asked the clone humorously as he stepped through the hole she had made. Checking the empty droid charging station he counted 20 berths. Given he had scrapped three already that meant there were still 17 lurking about. That and the number of zombies did not bode well. "Let's try to avoid any more scraps if we can shall we?" He asked his compatriots before stealthily moving to the edge of the hall they were in and peeking around the corner. It seemed the zombies weren't bright enough to put two and two together, because there was a writhing mass of them still pressing against the ray shield of the security checkpoint. Turning his head to the right the way looked clear. Remembering the layout of the level he knew the right path would be another route to the office, if they could manage to get past the shields this time. He looked back to Aska and Kayto, made a gesture with his thumb in the direction of the zombies and then motioned for them to stay quiet, followed by pointing down the right hallway. He would then begin moving.

With the zombies distracted it was easy enough for the light footed hunter to make his way down the hall and around the corner undetected. What he wasn't expecting was for four security droids to be waiting for him. He cursed under his breath and fired two shots, destroying two of the droids before taking a bolt to the shoulder and falling down on his back. He clenched his teeth and grunted through the pain, closing one eye as he raised his Westar and fired two more shots, destroying the remaining droids. But who knew how many more where on their way, or if the ghouls had heard those shots. Aska and Kayto would need to get through the shield quick.

The brawler was confused by this concept..."calm down." In a fight? Poffo lived and (hopefully not) died on berzerker mode. When he was pissed, he could really bring the thunder. When he was amped up, those hands could fly. It was when he was calm or drunk that he managed to get hit.

"You know who else doesn't what these hands to go through their throats?" Poffo nodded dramatically. "Oooh, yeah, those brainless, walking, infected piles of zombie bile, yeah...yeah...no, they do not. Guaranteed!" He added a finger flourish and continued around to the right. The room was the Life Support room. The door was closed and Poffo didn't see a reason to open it necessarily. He looked around the corner and could see the rooms had windows. However, they were busted out.

Poffo held up a large, thick finger to his lips and another large thick finger to tell Ali to hold up and be quiet. Poffo looked all through the room as best he could without going in. He could not see any zombies hooked up or in the roaming in the room. He made some noise by breaking out a little more glass and there was no movement in the room at all. He looked back at Ali. "Room is clear, yeah. Crystal clear."

The hallway led to another door. There was signs that gave locations if you were to continue through the door. "Power Oscillator, Droid Control, and Droid Charging Station." Every door was a risk. Every door could have nothing behind it or could have a mob of zombies behind it. There was only one way to find out. He hit the button to open the door.

"HOLY KRIFF!"

What Poffo saw was like nothing he had seen before. Zombies were packed into the hall like sardines. As soon as the door opened, their attention was directed toward the opening and started charging toward the door. Poffo reacted with lightning speed, and didn't hit the button, no. He punched it with the spiked knuckles disabling the entire system. It closed just in time, but the panel to open and close doors started sparkling wildly until it finally stopped shooting sparks, puffed out a plume of smoke and the lights went out.

Poffo took a step back. How in the kriff were they going to get to either the oscillator or the droids now? That may not be the biggest problem. The huge throng of zombies new there was fresh meat on the other side of the door and together, they were pushing with their massive AMS-roid bodies, and it wasn't clear at all the door would hold. Poffo looked back at Ali and said, "If you got any supersonic bright ideas, yeah...now's the time to let it shine, yeah..."

@Reyn @Tulos @Bex
Good news, bad news.
Good news is no zombies in the life support room.
Bad news is the hallway to the oscillator and the droids is packed with so many zombies that Poffo couldn't really estimate it. Also, because I rolled 9 I had to have a really major bad consequence....so, Poffo sort of broke the door.
