DESCRIPTION
The Crusader class corvette has a fair amount of history. Several variations of the Crusader class have been introduced in the past century though it is still a fairly rare sight. Originally designed for the Galactic Empire in the wake of the Clone Wars, it failed to interest the powers at be right off the bat. Only a handful were produced and the designs collected dust until Mandal Hypernautics agreed to sell the remaining ships the Empire hadn't purchased to private buyers. Most of them were unsurprisingly Mandalorians. The two Corvettes used by the Galactic Empire did not see much action and so their capabilities were wasted in backwater worlds. After the Galactic Empire was defeated, warlords rose to power in the vacuum created. Crime like piracy fluresh and the destributed Crusaders would get some time in the spotlight.

With their recognized effectiveness there was somewhat of a resurgence of their production. Mandal Hypernautics had further misfortune during the time of The Great Purge. As being Mandalorian based corporation and associated with the other members of their culture the Empire made attempts to take over the corporation. This forced the company to up and move though some of their facilities were compromised.

The company continued to operate outside of galactic authority. This made production of new ships hard and even if they wanted to could only produce smaller numbers. While still minimal in numbers compared to more popular and mainstream designs the effectiveness of Mandal Hypernautics saved them ironically when Imperial remnants joined the First Order and used Crusader Class corvettes against the New Republic effectively with the Republic starfighter dominant fleets which were the primary opponent they had been designed to combat.

Even after the battle of Exegol and the New Republic demilitarized, Crusader class corvettes remained in circulation and occasionally production though typically they were commisioned in small numbers. Sometimes small changes were made at the commisioners request. It wasn't until fifty years after the battle of Exegol that Mandal Hypernautics produced the Crusader II.

The Crusader stands out among other corvette class ships by lacking any turbo-lasers. It is not intended for fighting against larger ships solo but rather hit and run tactics or working with other capital craft or smallcraft squadrons. The lack of capital ships in the galaxy today makes needing turbo-laser weapon systems unnecessary as most common threats like piracy, civil conflict and hostile action is confronted with less dominating fleets than what the history books indicate.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Crusader-class corvettes are classified as capital ships under Galactic law, and possess heavy weapons. As such, civilian owners will require extra licensing to operate one legally, and will receive increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT
To create a standard corvette that has a history in the expanded universe and add some flavor to the available capital ships. Based on the Crusader class corvette. Also I wanted to reintroduce Mandalmotors (or one of its associated companies) into the story for people to utilize.

RESTRICTIONS
Crusader-class Corvettes are capital ships with powerful weapons, and capital ships cannot be owned or operated by individual characters. It can be acquired as a faction asset, however, or can be owned in common by a group of at least 3 regularly cooperating characters. This ship can be modified with aftermarket upgrades if appropriate, but since this is an older ship design doing so is not an easy process for this model of capital craft.
