His new assignment was to be sent with a team of Jedi Archaeologists to investigate and study long abandoned Jedi Temples and other ancient structures.
At the time of Order 66, he and his team were excavating an underground Temple structure. His team was split up when the Clone Troopers arrived. Separated by the maze of hallways, he was unable to reach them before they were each shot down. The outside of the temple was bombed, collapsing the entryway and sealing Curio inside.
After the Clones departed, Curio found himself with no further purpose. He became stranded in the endless network of tunnels, wandering day by day past the same murals and relief sculptures. He buried his companions one by one when he found them, though the last was a skeleton by the time he stumbled across her corpse.
Over time, he became worn and damaged. His plating stained with age, his eyes flickering in the dark. Forced to repair himself without assistance or proper tools for the better part of a century, he began to walk with a limp and stuck joints, shuffling along in an awkward, shuddering movement.
In addition to his physical damages, his memory banks became somewhat corrupted. The holoscans and blueprints for the ancient buildings he had studied became jumbled in his mind, and he impulsively began to build. Modestly at first, but as his primary architectural programming resurfaced, he eagerly busied himself constructing winding narrow corridors and stairways leading to nowhere. His work layered on top of the existing structure, causing the temple to become even more impossible to navigate.
Despite his destitute conditions, Curio retained a sliver of hope in the back of his databanks that he would one day see the sky again. By this time he had memorized thousands of Jedi mantra, which he recited every time he passed them carved on the temple wall. It became a sort of meditation, resulting in as close to spiritual enlightenment that a droid could reach.
Eventually, light did seep into his underground tomb. Time had caused a crack to form in the collapsed entrance, allowing Curio to step out into the galaxy once again. His new primary directive is to share his knowledge with any beings willing to listen.

After so many decades alone, Curio has become flighty and rather shy, more used to speaking with himself than with others.
He comes off as soft-spoken and meandering, his sentences often trailing off as he loses focus. He stutters when he speaks, due to a damaged vocabulator, and his flickering eyes make it difficult to keep eye contact. Despite this, he retains a gentle and playful personality, eager to teach and share his knowledge.
Given the opportunity, he will happily dive into long-winded explanations of ancient architecture, down to the most minute and pointless details.
He impulsively needs to build and design, so he often scribbles blueprints over top each other until it’s one incoherent mess. He also tends to repeatedly take apart and repair any small mechanical object he can get his hands on. Doing so seems to help him focus on other tasks, so it’s not uncommon for him to be tinkering with his extra arms while in the midst of a conversation.
