DESCRIPTION
The D50 Mantis Patrol Craft is a patrol craft manufactured by Kuat Driveyards based on the D5 Mantis Patrol Craft - which was made roughly four thousand years ago as part of the Cold War between the ancient Old Republic and Sith Empires. As a solid and dependable craft for soldiers, bounty hunters and spies, the D5 of days gone by was seen as a good choice for use by the navies of both combatants. Seeing the need for such craft, KDY continued to make the D5 line of Patrol Ships and committed to improving them in stages as technology advanced.

The D50 is the 50th updated version of the D5, keeping the signature retractable armament foils to allow for compact landing and storage - while also overhauling the navigation, shielding and engine systems to keep them in line with more recent models. This being said, the D50 is only the most recent version of the Mantis Patrol Craft line of ships, it is still roughly three decades old at this point and KDY is rumoured to be working on the D51 though it is very much on the back-burner.

Due to their reliable nature and storied history, the D50 Mantis Patrol Craft is very easily customisable and even ancient technical manuals of the D5 have enough similarities to the modern counterpart that almost any mechanic in the Galaxy can maintain and restore the ship. Often seen as a good ship for use by bounty hunters and local security forces to this day, most of these ships can be found serving their owners faithfully throughout the Galaxy, though more often found in the Outer Rim and Unknown Regions.

LEGALITY
Restricted. Due to their military-grade systems and armament, some extra licensing is generally required for a civilian to fly this ship legally. Such permits are relatively straightforward to get in most systems, however.

INTENT
Intent is to bring one of the ships from the Old Republic into the canon of the site while providing an updated version to make them more common/useful in the current timeline.
