DESCRIPTION
The Daggerstar-class swoop is a sport repulsorcraft that was originally manufactured by Lhosan Industries, an important Tarisian corporation to which the invention of the swoop is widely attributed. Though the Daggerstar was not the company's first vehicle that could be called such, it is widely regarded as the product that solidified the concept of a swoop in the Galaxy at large, creating a product class and subculture which both endure to this day.

Like all swoops, the Daggerstar is a single-pilot craft with an absurd power-to-weight ratio and a flight ceiling more consistent with aircraft than ground vehicles. One of the first racing swoops, and still among the fastest, the Daggerstar can reach speeds up to 850 kph, with a maximum altitude of 350 meters. Unlike later swoops, however, the vehicle lacks somewhat in maneuverability; at full speed, aerodynamic resistance on the control surfaces makes steering input sluggish, making the Daggerstar hard to control. Racers who fly the vehicle either learn to master this pronounced control delay, or end up messily dead in short order. Even in its day, the Daggerstar's controls were described as unforgiving, making this swoop the domain of truly skilled and/or experienced riders only.

Unfortunately for Lhosan, though the Daggerstar was a popular craft, the Taris Cataclysm brought an end to the company, and to Daggerstar production for many decades. The model was later picked up by the Kakkran corporation, which built it for a number of years before discontinuing it.

Due to its age and historical significance, Daggerstar-class swoops are extremely rare and collectible today. Original Lhosan-built examples are highly prized, as are Kakkran-made examples, however the latter were made in greater numbers and are not considered to have the same pedigree as the original; it is common for resellers to fake Kakkran Daggerstars to resemble the Lhosan version. Most Daggerstars of either type reside in museums and private collections in the present day, regardless.

LEGALITY
Legal. Daggerstar-class swoops are civilian models, and are unrestricted on most worlds. They will get the attention of most authorities regardless, however.
