"Just up here," Dreys gestured to his companion as he walked along the rain-soaked avenues of Coruscant's Galactic City's entertainment district. It was every bit as gauche as he had expected it to be, as he had seen it in his visions. This world was filled to the brim with the lives of billions of people, forming an ecology all their own to replace what they had long since built over. Moving through the crowds down the street it was like following a current in the Force, the combined intents of everyone moving synchronously as they went about their lives, traveling to their destinations. They all seemed to meld together into a single mass in the Force, though maybe that was more how Dreys was choosing to see them, rather than how they actually were.

"Here, this is it." Dreys didn't need to look up to see but he did so anyway, scanning the edifice of the building just to make sure. Yes, it was here, this was where she had lived. Where she had died.

Working with Jedi was weird to Lorcan.

He always felt like they were looking down their noses at him with their holier-than-thou attitude. Yeah, of course they were holier than him - he was a lower wards kid who'd become a hardass ranger. They were space monks who wanted peace and harmony and other crazy shite! Whatever. The point of his internal rant was that he wasn't very happy working with Jedi but he was even less happy with serial killers in his old stomping grounds so...

The serial killer had won his internal poll as to which he disliked more.

Lorcan had walked through the streets with his helmet under his left arm for one reason and one reason only - so he could smoke as he walked along with the Jedi. Staring at the building for a moment, Lorcan eyed the Jedi.

"So this is where you saw someone die in your visions."
he said it bluntly, leaving no doubt that he didn't believe it for a second, "Alright go on then magic mike - wow me."

Dreys reached back into his mind and started concentrating, recalling what he had seen in his vision. She had gotten off the lift and then proceeded down the corridor. She didn't have to look at the doors or the numbers on them, she knew instinctively which one was hers from many days of ritually walking home at this time.

"Third floor, fifth apartment on the left." Dreys said as he walked up to the front doorway and summoned the lift. The two men piled in and Dreys hit the button for the third floor, which they arrived at almost instantaneously. Stepping off the lift, he walked briskly ahead of the other man as he counted doors along the left facing wall of the corridor. "Here," He said, and after a brief moment of concentration cast his hand over the door, opening it to let the dim light of the hallway filter inside. Just like in his vision.

All it took was one step inside and Dreys gasped loudly as the image of the room from his vision melded with the room as it stood before him. While in one it was a disheveled, but hardly ruinous abode, in the other, it was a grotesque scene of horror as blood painted the walls and floors in strange symbols.

"Do you believe me now?" He asked in a whisper, his voice shaky as he struggled to separate his own emotions from the ones he felt had been left behind.

The Jedi seemed very confident that he knew where and when these things had happened and that rubbed Lorcan the wrong way. In his experience the only people who had this much evidence on a case tended to be the victim and the killer; and the victim usually wasn't very talkative. But he knew that the Jedi were an odd people with odd powers so maybe this kid actually had seen it?

Or maybe Lorcan was walking around with the killer in the guise of a Jedi, who was to say?

He crossed his arms in the lift as it went up and it was not by chance that his hands rested on the weapons sheathed under his arms, his pistol and his vibroknife. Lorcan didn't do anything so obvious as grip them so much as he just touched them. To anyone looking, like a certain Jedi, it would look natural but it meant he would be able to draw quickly if he needed to.

Doubtful that he would need to but Lorcan wasn't big on blind trust. As soon as they were through the door to the apartment he did grip his pistol, drawing it smoothly even as he left his knife where it was.

"I know a man just led me to a crime scene by describing every step of the way to get there."
he countered with a frown as he closed the door behind them, "Where's the body? Which way did the killer go?"

His pistol was out and in both hands, pointed low, both due to the chance the killer hadn't left and the off chance that this wasn't a Jedi Knight but, in fact, a Sith.

Dreys could forgive the Ranger's skepticism, well pessimism more like, this was hardly a nice place to be, referring to Coruscant in general.

"I'm afraid my directions end there Sir Ranger, the vision I had was of the past and it terminated with what I think we can now conclude was the woman's death." Dreys said, moving to touch one of the bloodstained walls before catching himself and floating his hand just above the surface. The whole scene was monstrous in its intent and yet Dreys did not feel the singe of hate or anger within these walls. Just will, a powerful one at that, one determined to do something, to finish something but to what end Dreys could not divine. And despite the incredulity of the Ranger he was right, they were missing a key component with the lack of a body, for while blood and violence lingered in the air, Dreys did not immediately parse out the stench of death and decay.

But was that blinding his senses? Were the sensitivity of his preternatural abilities throwing him off somehow? What could he not sense through the thick cloud of darkness that enveloped this place?

Lorcan scowled, happy that Dreys was actually unable to see the expression because he hated to look like that. A scowl of indecision was something to be covered up but when the guy was blind was there even any point? He wanted a smoke but his helmet was on since this was a crime scene.

Also bad idea to smoke on a crime scene.

"There's no body."
he agreed with the same scowl even as he looked at the blood, "The blood is all over the walls but..."

Leaning in close, Lorcan frowned slightly before waving a hand at it generally. Before he realized that he was gesturing to a blind man so he stopped.

"Across the walls the blood has been carefully painted onto the walls to make symbols."
he declared firmly, "No blood misting - none of the streaks across the walls are from wounds directly. Also..."

He looked around the floor.

"I'm not a blood guy but one thing that strikes me as strange is that there's no pooling."
He really wanted that smoke now. "It's like the kill couldn't have happened here but instead happened elsewhere and this was staged later, almost ritualistically. Make sense?"

No pooling, no splatter, no marks on the floor. He was right. Unless someone had judiciously (and selectively) cleaned up their mess the entire scene appeared more... staged than anything else. It would certainly explain the dark sense of purpose Dreys felt, one without the grim connotations of death.

"But I saw... her enter." Dreys turned around and started retracing the steps in his vision right to the point mid-room where it had ended with a frightening jolt. "But if she isn't here then where is she? Why decorate and ornament a scene like this?" Dreys stared at one group of symbols on the wall, trying to discern their artistic merit. "Why return here at all?" He puzzled aloud.

Dreys lived for questions, he had spent his life asking them, but he also relished in the answers to those questions and unlike some of his fellows, he could only indulge mystery and speculation for so long.

Lorcan had to say that this whole thing was several different shades of messed up but that was fine by him. Honestly, the fact that a woman was likely dead was terrible and it never wouldn't be terrible; but Lorcan was really kind of glad she had been killed in such a weird way. If it was just a straight forward murder it would be enough for him to hunt down the killer and bring him to justice but if it was a weird one like this promised to be?

Then he could be challenged and it might look good on his career path.

Standing in the center of the room for a moment, close to Dreys, Lorcan looked around the room for a long moment before he spotted something in one of the symbols. Frowning slightly, he thought back to some research he'd done.

"So back before the Sith did their big reveal I did some research on old Jedi and Sith and such, right? I looked at some of the backgrounds your kooky religions could spring from."
he admitted before pointing to one of the symbols, "And that symbol right there? I've seen it before. Some Sith cult that used to worship some aspect of the Dark Side..."

He opened his personal datapad and skimmed through it.

"Ah! Here."
he scowled, "It's an ancient Sith symbol that means... Clarity in Rage. Huh... lovely."
