DESCRIPTION
The SS-54 light assault ship was an attempt by Botajef Shipyards, a firm better known for its line of heavy commercial freight and passenger transports, to break into the military equipment market during the Clone Wars. Though the SS-54 only met with middling success during the conflict, it became exceptionally popular with planetary militias, law enforcement, rebels, bounty hunters and criminals during the Imperial era, when a clerical error caused it to be classified as a light freighter. This made the SS-54 exempt from many Imperial licensing restrictions and taxes on military spacecraft, and due to the nature of Imperial bureaucracy, this oversight was never addressed. As a result, though it was hardly the best ship of its type on the market, it was quite common during the Galactic Civil War and the subsequent New Republic years.

The SS-54 is a simple vessel, crewed by 2 beings, it is able to carry up to 10 passengers, 30 tons of cargo and consumables sufficient for 2 weeks in space. It has decent performance, capable of reaching 60 MGLT and possessing a class 2 hyperdrive. Armament is likewise respectable, with 4 fixed light laser cannons in the nose of the ship, and a dorsal casemate containing 2 traversable medium laser cannon with a rearward firing arc. The ship has medium-grade deflector shields.

Though quite old at this point, some SS-54s remain in service, and are still used by various beings, mostly for unsavory purposes.

UNIQUE DETAILS
The Daywing is owned and licensed by Kotii Solus under an alias. The ship has received numerous aftermarket modifications. Some made by Hauron and others by Kotii while others already had been made by previous owners. A pair of brigs have been installed for holding prisoners.

A S3 smart ship AI suite has been added and reset to be devoted to the ship's capabilities, acting as a permanent crew member. The downgraded weaponry and the prioritization on speed makes the ship a hidden gem. Those that know Mandalorians are less likely to suspect a vessel with downgraded armaments.

Several small scatterweave lined smuggling compartments are built into the Daywing's design. Inside are supplies, equipment and weapons that Kotii might use on his travels on the Daywing.

Common equipment that Kotii uses when flying this ship or traveling aboard it is as follows:

LEGALITY
Restricted. Despite Imperial incompetence, the New Republic revised the SS-54's classification after it came to power, and the type is currently classified as a military vehicle. Owning one legally requires extensive licensing, and the type will draw the attention of authorities regardless. However, some of the modifications made to this ship make it illegal in some regards though these have to be discovered first and this ship does not draw a lot of attention if any.

INTENT
To create a personal beginning transport for my character that is a common sight and allows them to relatively travel undetected. This ship and others will be part of his in-sheeps'-clothing project. Perfect for smugglers and people on the run. Based off of the SS-54 class light blastboat. Tuuragal translates to "Daywing" in Mando'a.
