The Festival of Light

Sometimes Naboo, Theed especially, delivered something that even he had not been expecting. Every year there was the Festival of Light and every year it was bigger, brighter and better than the year before. Perhaps it was simply so majestic to his eyes because he had been away from Naboo for so long but he enjoyed the opening to this one even more than any of the others he had attended. The streets of the royal city were full of people, celebrating the holiday that was set to mark something that, technically, was no longer valid.

A massive festival to celebrate joining the Galactic Republic or, as it was known now, the Old Republic.

The tradition had survived the Empire, however, so he didn't find it at all surprising that it managed to stay relevant even with the current state of galactic politics. It was a bit of a mess right now, especially with the war with the Sith ramping up. But if the Clone Wars hadn't managed to stop the event then the new Sith War wasn't going to stop it either. Besides, for now the war was distant and people could forget that it was even a thing as they danced and enjoyed themselves.

He had set up his own party, as was expected, and he had decided that he wanted to make it more open than the traditional parties. The doors to the complex were wide open to the street and anyone could attend, royal, noble or common. Honestly he'd even seen some Trandoshans at the drinks table a little while ago and wasn't that a sight on a planet like this?

They were probably going to ravage his vodka reserves.

Best he get his own vodka topped up before they did.
