Death Watch

Overview

Extremists, Terrorists, Mercenaries. Death Watch is perhaps all of these things, but not without a purpose. A sub-faction withing the Mandalorian military. Elite warriors, called to act and risk life and honor to complete the mission. Using tactics that many consider to be dishonorable. Bombings of civilized or soft targets, mass shooting events, and other 'gorilla' war tactics perfected under the rule of the Sith.

More recently they have also taken up the mantle of Manda'lor the Chosen's insurgent spy network. Infiltrating them selves, traitors, or informants into deep into enemy territory and ranks to collect information, supplies, and weaponry for the Mandalorian war effort.

Organization & History

Warriors of old, once known as 'Deaths Watchers' during the First Crusading Era under Mand'alor The Conqueror, these Mandalorians gained the infamous moniker during the Second Battle of Shogun. Dispatched during battle coordination and given the task to conquer the capitol city at 'any cost' by the Mand'alor an instruction taken literally. The crusaders came against stiff opposition and casualties mounted while attempting to minimalize civilian casualties and collateral damage, that was until a Rally Master ordered his section of men herd a group of civilians into the street directly in the view of a defensive strong point and execute them all for the defenders decision to fight.

The tactic proved successful and soon the rest of the crusaders attacking the capitol began employing the tactic as a means to bend the will of the defenders and force them into submission. After the city fell to the crusaders many of the other Mandalorians present were mortified with the way they acted but there was no Mand'alor to reprimand or punish them for the 'crimes' in the eyes of many. With the void in leadership among the people those of Deaths Watchers returned to their Clans and Houses only for them to begin the age old tradition of infighting and many warriors met their fate on the field of battle at the hands of other Mandalorians. With that the once numerous warriors unified on that day dwindled until they were merely a memory, one that came with a laundry list of war crimes in the eyes of civilized systems and brutal efficiency that some may call radical practices or terroristic in nature.

Following the decline in numbers and eventual move into obscurity the name 'Death Watch' has recently begun as whispers in the mouths of some Mandalorians, and common conversation when the topic of retribution is discussed. The Sith and their followers have struck a blow worse than the radicals of old had ever been able to accomplish and as such some individual Marauders have taken it upon themselves to retaliate with acts of terror and mass destruction. Some see it as an homage to the name, and a modern movement to bring the symbols and strategies back to the galaxy as the Mandalorians cast their lot back into the galaxy in the Third Crusading Era. Unified under Mand'alor The Chosen these warriors have begun to band together and mark their armor signifying the bond they share in doing whatever it takes to bring vengeance for their people and conquering those who stand in the way.

The rallying call of Death Watch transcends all Clan & House leadership, grudges and bad blood are left in the past once one takes up the mantle. A member of Death Watch takes orders from the Watch and the Mand'alor, the goal is common among members and the potential sacrifice is ever present but those who rally to the old symbols and ways are guaranteed glory when it is time to join the Manda.

Tenets

  • Watch Out For Death Watch, answer only to those of Death Watch and the Mand'alor
  • At Any Cost, the day will be won defeat is not an option nor an acceptable outcome
  • Talk Like Your Life Depends On It, have cunning and wit at the negotiation table
  • Give No Quarter, when the day is won none who opposed shall live to tell the tale

Ranks
Death Watch operates in a highly autonomous manner making the distinction between rank less prominent and only necessary when large numbers of the Death Watch are working together on the battlefield. Members of Death Watch wear their rank on the left shoulder, displayed in red where a Mandalorian may normally sport the mythosaur skull. This serves to distinguish them from the average Mandalorian and show who holds rank when interacting with outside forces, Death Watch maintains three ranks and they follow as such.

Watchman (Roundel Without Markings)
A unifying title to bring pride to the members of Death Watch, these Mandalorians range from common marauders all the way to tech specialists and intelligence operatives. During small unit operations like raids, targeted strikes, assassinations, bounty collections and alike a group is comprised of Watchmen.

Watch Captain (Roundel With Two Markings)
Members of Death Watch who serve in a leadership role, commanding large numbers of Watchmen in battle or leading negotiations during planetary conquest. These members of the organization have proven their ability in combat and as cunning tacticians and have a strong ability to lead civil interactions when there is no battle to be had.

Watch Commander (Roundel With Four Markings)
The leader of Death Watch, commonly referred to as the Watch Commander is identified by a roundel with all four markings. Anyone who has the honor of rising to this rank has proven to be the strongest and popularly accepted leader among their peers when the time for a new leader to be selected to replace and inadequate or fallen commander. The Watch Commander answers to the Mand'alor and the Mand'alor only and can be empowered to represent Mandalore in the absence of the Mand'alor if expressly instructed when acting as a foreign delegate.

Assets

  • Shadow Enclave Base, on Umbara. Will be the group's primary base of operations. However not exclusive to them. Rather a main place to gather and plan before and after missions and collect assets.
  • Single VXN Dropship

Intent

My intent is to continue on the interest of @Rimrald and several other members in the original interest check. The group will look to serve not only as a terror group but also the Mandalorian's spy network. For those who are interested in that style of play and more story driven missions and plots, rather then the heavy PvP activity the Mandalorian Faction is becoming known for this TL.
