Izel landed behind the large spirit, hissing lowly as pain shot up her injured leg. Wasting no time she turned around, watching with despair as the beast tore at Oren's stomach. Seeing her comrade vulnerable she rushed forward and prepared to make another attempt at striking the spirit, this time aiming to sweep it's legs out from under it. But Oren's call gave her pause.
"Feel out in the force, find your peace and channel it upon this beast.. you will feel the pain of it, but do your best to remember our teachings.. only then can we defeat this." The Vratix lowered her weapon. She understood what he was asking of her, and knew he could afford her precious little time to do it. This was it. She had to overcome her uncertainty and fear and do what was required of her. Or Oren could very well die.
Although she knew time was of the essence, she was still calm and deliberate in her actions as she slowly approached the spirit, extending a hand towards it's back. With deep, measured breaths she let go of her fear and allowed the Force to flow through her, guiding her. She suppressed her urge to fight, instead finding serenity and a resolve to overcome the spirit through a superior will. She reached out with her senses to create a bond with the beast, determined to calm it's chaotic nature. Finally her palm pressed against it, and the connection was made between the two of them through the Force.
Her immediate instinct was to recoil as an ocean of dark energy crashed down on her, threatening to drown the small beacon of the light side she represented. She struggled against this instinct, and forced herself to maintain contact with the spirit. "Enough of this." She said gently but firmly, her mind calm and unwavering. "Be at peace..." She used all the strength and force of will at her disposal to try and impose her serene state upon the spirit. Whether it would have any effect would soon be apparent. The Vratix had no other option but to maintain her current course of action now, as she had made herself completely vulnerable to an attack. This had to work.
