DESCRIPTION​

The DF-2000 is an interceptor manufactured by the Corellian Engineering Corporation. Marketed as a rugged, simple to operate option for point defense work, the DF-2000 uses as many components from CEC's popular YT series of light freighters as possible, easing logistics for many customers. The type also has a cockpit layout and control scheme that is very similar to many of the aforementioned freighters; according to CEC, any pilot with even a passing familiarity with CEC's other products can be trained to operate a DF-2000 in as little as a few minutes.

The DF-2000 is small, approximately 10.5 meters in length, with a cylindrical central fuselage and a pair of outrigger engine pods on the tips of its wings. The ship is flown by a single pilot, and has storage space for up to 100 kilograms of cargo, plus 2 days worth of consumables. Armament consists of twin medium laser cannons, plus a fuselage-mounted concussion missile launcher with a 4-shot rotary magazine. Top speed is an impressive 110 MGLT, and maneuverability is excellent. Additionally, the DF-2000 has a relatively anemic class 4 hyperdrive.

Designed to compliment the YT series and CEC's other freighters, the DF-2000 shares many aesthetic cues with the company's civilian market products, in addition to internal systems. This appearance has been divisive, hated by some and loved by others, but in general it is hard to argue with results. DF-2000s are popular as civilian convoy escorts, and are often purchased by remote system governments due to their ease of upkeep.
