Destiny Intergalactic Commercial Enterprise

dice.gif

Overview

The Destiny Intergalactic Commercial Enterprise is a corporation that deals with technology, ranging from software to high-tech products, such as ships. Apart of an unknown conglomerate, DICE operates in both Republic and Hutt space, finding profit in both territories. Staying neutral, the corporation seeks to replace Jade as the leading producer of state of the art technology.

History

The Destiny Intergalactic Commercial Enterprise started out as a small corporation based solely in Republic space. At the time, it still bore the name of Destiny, Inc., with the slogan of "Destiny Awaits". However, it was unable to fair well against major distributers, such as the Crytek Research and Development Corporation and Phoenix Corp. Twice it had neared bankrupcy, but the plants on Obroa-skai and Alderaan managed to keep the company breathing.

When the Alsakan Crisis broke out, Destiny, Inc. was unable to secure as many military contracts with the Republic as its major competitors. Instead, they found that by expanding market into Hutt space, they managed to get more income. By not discriminating between customers, Destiny sold weaponry and ships to the Alsakans.

The Alsakan Crisis was the best thing to happen to Destiny, Inc. The war allowed Destiny, Inc. to research and produce better technology. They were especially proud of their software and ships. Unfortunately, with the end of the war, so did the end of income from the Alsakans, minus a few shipments to the Alsakan Restoration Movement, though they were scare to buy from Destiny, Inc.

During the twenty year gap between the Alsakan Crisis and the First Hutt War, Destiny, Inc. began militarizing itself, building a small fleet for itself. Small in size, the fleet consisted of one capital ship and two corvettes, not counting the ships used for transporting merchandaise and materials. Obroa-skai would eventually combine Destiny, Inc.'s fleet, the Destiny Armada, with their own planetary defense fleet.

When Phoenix Corp. was taken over and its networks liquified, Destiny, Inc. grabbed the oppurtunity. It managed to secure major deals and contracts with companies and governments that had once belonged to Phoenix, but due to spectic views on the reformed Phoenix Corp., representatives were willing to give Destiny Inc. another chance. This expansion allowed Destiny, Inc. the chance to build a factory on Mustafar. It would gain a shipyard at Polis Massa. In an effort to minimalize transportation and to stray resources from being all in one place, the shipyards were generally small in comparision to others.

A decade ago, CARD dissolved. It's assests for the taking. DICE was the corporation that managed to seize control over the Mon Calamari Shipyard once owned by CARD.

Before the beginning of the First Hutt War, there was a reformation in Destiny, Inc. After the tragic loss of the president, new president Glazi Zmeya, typically nicknamed Snake Eyes, took control over the corporation. He changed the infrastructure of Destiny, Inc. into a more private corporation, hiding several operations from the general public, allowing the company to expand into illegal operations, such as bioweapons and genetic manipulation, though the latter proved little success. As a final wave to wipe away the old ways of the corporation, Glazi Zmeya changed the name from Destiny, Inc. to Destiny Intergalactic Commercial Enterprise, or DICE for short. It was around this time that rumors that Destiny had been absorbed by another corporation began.

When the First Hutt War broke out, DICE was quick to secure contracts with the Republic, while secretly gaining contracts with the Hutts. Playing devil's advocate, DICE gained a large profit from the war. It would coerce Hutt warlords into crushing competiting companies in Hutt space for a profit, gaining DICE more ground. However, both Jade and Costas Industries prevented DICE from becoming a major player in the First Hutt Wars, industrial-wise.

Services

DICE develops and produces new technology and software. Their products range from programs to weaponry to ships. Though their products are typically military-oriented, DICE does sell some commercial products such as communication equipment and civilian transportation and colonies.

As of the current time, discluding fleet personnel and part-timers, DICE has about 1000 full-time employees.

Infrastructure

DICE currently divides itself between the Destiny Armada, the R&D Department, Manufacturing [Space-bound], and Manufacturing [Planet-bound].

Administration
(From highest to lowest)
President
The President is the top authority of the administration that controls the administration that governs DICE. The President serves as the chairman of the Board of Directors.

Vice President
The Vice President is the second-in-command of DICE. The Vice President generally serves as the President-in-Acting when the President is unable to work or is incompacitated. If the President were to pass away, the Vice President will resume the duties of the President.

The Board of Directors
The Board of Directors, sometimes nicknamed the Council of Seven, consists of the five heads of departments, plus the President and Vice President. The Board of Directors is the overall authority over DICE, a union of all the directors. Occassionally, a work union representative will serve on the Board of Directors, to ensure the interest of the workers. Though not an official member, Senator Gabriel Djibril of Obroa-skai sometimes sits in the Board meetings.

Secretary/Aide
The administration generally has several secretaries and aides that work for them. They generally have low clearance.

Destiny Armada
(From highest to lowest)
Admiral
The admiral is the supreme authority of the Destiny Armada. The admiral generally answers to the Obroa-skai military, though has some influence in the Obroan military, due to the Destiny Armada fusing with the Obroa-skai Planetary Fleet. The admiral serves on the Board of Directors. The admiral sometimes answers to Senator Gabriel Djibril.

Colonel
Colonels are generally in control of security of facilities. While they technically outrank captain, they are under the authority of a captain while aboard the captain's ship.

Captain
A captain controls a single cruiser, frigate, or capital ship. The captains obey the only to the admiral, rarely to other higher-ranking DICE employees outside the Destiny Armada, though all orders from the Board of Directors must be upheld.

Commander
Commanders control individual squadrons of space fighters, generally serving as team leader.

Lieutenant
Lieutenants serve as the second-in-command of squadrons. If the commander of a squadron is shot down, the lieutenant will receive control over the squadron, though not guaranteed promotion to commander after battle.

Ensign
Generic rank of military officers and non-ranking pilots.

R&D Department
(From highest to lowest)
Director [R&D]
The Director of the R&D Department heads the R&D Department, controlling the several laboratories and research stations. The Director of the R&D Department serves on the Board of Directors.

Manager
Facility managers, sometimes referred to as Sub-Directors, control an individual laboratory or research station. Sometimes, the chief scientist will serve as the manager for their facility.

Chief Scientist
Chief Scientist is the head of an research operation or project. Sometimes, the manager of a facility will serve as chief scientist.

Scientist/Researcher
Scientists and researchers are the main body of the R&D Department, working in operations and projects.

Manufacturing [Space-Bound & Planet-Bound]
(From highest to lowest)
Director
There are two directors of the Manufacturing. One is the Director of the planet-bound manufacturing, which produces weaponry and software. The other Director is the space-bound manufacturing, which produces the space ships and space stations.

Foreman
Foremen control individual plants, factories, and shipyards.

Engineer
Engineer build and repair DICE merchandaise.

Facilities

DICE Headquarters
gamescenes20.jpg

DICE Headquarters is the nerve center of DICE, located on the mountainous planet of Obroa-skai. Originally, the location had been built with factories inside. However, when factories and shipyards were put up in other locations, the Obroa-skai factory was stripped and used as storage and for laboratories.

Mustafar Complex
3mustafarfortress.jpg

The Mustafar Complex is a mining operation and factory for DICE located on the volcanic planet. Due to the risks involved, the facility is mostly run by droids.

Space Station "Alcatraz"
Space Station "Alcatraz" is located in Polis Massa. Originally a prison before the days of the Alsakan Crisis, DICE converted it, and surrounding asteroid bases into a shipyard. DICE's private test runs of ships are generally conducted here.

Mon Calamari Shipyard
space-station.jpg

The Mon Calamari Shipyard is a shipyard orbiting Mon Calamari, once owned by CARD. This shipyard builds most of DICE's larger, generic ships.

I don't like the fact that their security/military branch is called Destiny Armada. I feel like thats really unoriginal since Jade's is also called Jade Armada.

True. I was originally going to call it the Destiny Fleet but since the fleet was armed, I thought I'd go with "armada". The difference is that the Destiny Armada is a defensive fleet rather than a militant security armada.

Sorry it took a while: I honestly forgot about the PM.

Although you have said products and its relationship with CARD is there, a new faction has to start small: no exceptions. That said, I'm unsure as to how large the corp is in terms of personnel and fleet size. Also, your stations have to be considered prototypes for now, meaning that they've not been cleared for its intended use.

Ah, I see. The only reason I made entries for the tech listed is because I've used them in RP threads. A lot of people design their own ships, all I did was state where they came from.

Your space stations have hyperdrives 0.0

Oops. I had copied the template from the Hutt Engineering. I wrote over the parts to comply with the space stations, but it looks like I forgot to delete the "Hyperspace Rating" section. I'll remove those now. Thanks for spotting those.

Can I give you a sorta useless suggestion? Personally, I think this faction would be more appealing if you resized those massive pictures.

Let me know if you want help...I'll resize them for you.

That would be great. I have no idea how to make pictures smaller than their original size so I've always just used the size they came in.

Open with paint --> resize --> click maintain aspect ratio --> resize as desired (always go smaller, never bigger) --> save copy

I don't remember if I asked you about NPC count or fleet size. If you have not already, can you put that stuff in there somewhere?

Those are both in there already.
Discluding fleet personnel and part-timers, 7000 NPCs (I made a random guess on how many employees it would be, so I could easily be short or have too many needed to operate DICE).
Also, the fleet, discounting freighters, consists of one capital ship and two corvettes.

Reduce NPCs to 1,000, and it should be good.
