An Alliance divided.

“Good Evening folks,” A Zeltron male was standing in the middle of the crowded city square of Iziz, microphone in hand. Behind the reporter, there was a lively protest occurring – dozens of citizens gathering at the Senate building to demonstrate. Their voices nearly drowned out the reporter, and many of those gathered were holding signs with phrases such as, WE DIDN’T ASK FOR THIS WAR and STOP THE BLOODSHED, plastered across the front. “I am coming to you live from Yolahn Square of Onderon, where protestors have gathered just outside the FWA Senate Session currently occurring. This ongoing session marks the first meeting of the legislature since the election of Korre Belasi to the office of Prime Minister.”

The reporter paused before continuing, reading from the holo-prompter. “While Ms. Belasi was recently elected as Prime Minister by popular vote to replace Naeva Rue, it would appear that her ascension to leadership of the FWA is not without opposition. In the most recent meeting of the Galactic Senate, the now-Prime Minister joined with Senator of Lothal, Cal Starros, in passing sweeping sanctions against the Sith Empire. Not only has this resolution resulted in the recent stock-market crash within the Republic, but it is a vote has also proved to be greatly unpopular with citizens of the FWA, many of whom believe it is an escalation of the current conflict with the Sith Empire."

"And it isn't just here on Onderon, folks. Just earlier today, a joint-statement from the offices of several Free World senator's was released, issuing a stern warning to the Prime Minister."

Just then, the holonet feed cut away from the lively scene on Onderon. Instead, it began to broadcast the image of a man giving a speech behind a podium. It was a replay of a press statement from the joint offices of several FWA Senators, having aired only a few hours before the Senate session began.

"It had not been more than a month since the removal of Nueva Rue from office, and already we have seen the true colors of her replacement. Instead of pushing for a swift, peaceful resolution to this conflict, Korre Belasi has thrown her lot behind warmongering radicals like the Senator of Lothal, with her recent vote in the Galactic Senate to levy sanctions against the Sith Empire. This is an action that will only increase hostilities with the Empire and takes us one step farther from ending this war.”

“We are not blind to the new coming out of the New Republic, where the Chancellor had have pushed to establish a formal alliance with the Jedi – the very same order that has brought this conflict to our very doorstep. Our message to the Prime Minister is clear. Unlike the New Republic, the Free Worlds will not stand for the Prime Minister unilaterally speaking for our worlds, and dragging us further into the conflict between the Sith and Jedi. If the Prime Minister oversteps her bounds and declares a formal alliance with the Jedi Order, then we will have no choice but to reconsider our place within this Alliance.”

The holonet feed cut back to the Zeltron reporter, still standing amidst the crowds of protestors. "As you can see, things are definitely getting heated in the Free Worlds Alliance." The reporter commented. “It remains to be seen whether or not the Prime Minister will follow in the Republic’s footsteps and declare closer relations with the Jedi Order, but this is a situation we will all be following very closely.”
