DESCRIPTION
The DLT-995 is another example of BlasTech's commitment to making blasters bigger, and harder hitting, than they really need to be. Why? Because ridiculously overpowered blasters sell really well on frontier worlds where they're the bare minimum one would need to take out the local wildlife. The 995 fires a much more condensed bolt than the standard blaster, and has for more energy. This is achieved by using an over sized heter valve, and an XCiter reinforced with duranium to take the extra strain. The actuating module has been greatly reinforced electromagnetic accelerators, which are in turn over sized to provide for easier maintenance. The end result is a blaster rifle that fires an extremely powerful bolt. Capable of cracking through thick carapaces, or armor plating, the 995 can punch a hole in anything short of thick durasteel barricades. But this advantage in firepower is not without drawbacks. First the 995 is very large, and very heavy. All the reinforcing needed, and the over sized components make it the kind of weapon you don't want to be carrying for more than a few hours at a time. Though the blaster bolt fired is extremely good at cracking through homogeneous plates, it struggles somewhat more against armored meshes that disperse the initial impact, rather than try to stop it through thickness alone. The result is that the 995 is ironically better at taking out more heavily armored targets, especially those that utilize armor plates extensively, compared to lighter armors that use a mesh of different materials in their manufacturing. The range is limited, as is ammunition capacity, by the over condensed nature of the bolt which requires more tibanna gas per a shot, and tends to lose cohesion sooner.
Still if you absolutely need to punch a few holes into a stormtrooper, you could do far worse.
INTENT
Oh look a blaster. Look at all the blasters the Rebellion has. Oh, none? Srsly, how has my faction operated before now? I think we had a plastic carbine that I deleted because it was deliberately awful. This one is quirky in a funsy-way so we're gonna go with this one. @Clayton It might be considered generic by some, but it's Faction Tech so better safe than sorry.
