Are you a tipper? How much do you normally tip in restaurants? Or do you simply let the free market decide?

I never tip below 10%, being an ex-waiter myself. That's their livelihood as taxes take away the entirety of their meager check.

So I typically tip 50% for the lower-priced meals - like Waffle House - and for sure tip $10-15 elsewhere.

Yes. I don't base it on a percentage. I tend to tip based on performance regardless of where I go. I've found it really helps out at local places because whether I'm getting a little or a lot, my tendency to tip well gets me better service than others some of the time. If I go to a fancy restaurant I don't really see why the waitress deserves anymore there than the waitress at the local diner or vice-versa. As a side note, I tend to get irrationally angry at people who don't tip. I just feel that if you can't afford to tip, you can't afford to eat out/get delivery.

Haven't ever worked in food service either for the record, just a thing about me.

Here's to say I don't just toss around money. I just know the struggle, and honestly, I'm the 'we should all help one another' type.

Of course if there's someone with a crap personality and really acts like they don't want to at least show courtesy to 'earn' said tip? They get nothing from me.

It's all about their service. If they're absent 90% of the meal and have only refilled my water when I was eating my salad, then they get little from me. There've been times when I would have to actively get up and look for my waitress because she hadn't visited my table in well over forty-five minutes both before we ordered and after we were done. Of course, there have also been times when I couldn't tip the waiter/waitress enough for their service.

Though it's typically 15% unless poor/outstanding performance for me.

I tip if the service was satisfactory. If it's under ten dollars, I tip two dollars. Over ten and it's three dollar tip. Over 20 and it's a four dollar tip. You see the pattern.

Sometimes I will tip my regular bartenders five dollars just because they do a good job and we're cool with each other.

I will also say it was very rare for me to of been tipped when I delivered radiators, and it's still rare for my drivers to be tipped.

So your tips become increasingly less generous as the price increases?

I've used this method of tipping for years. I don't bother with percentages.

I generally don't tip because I live in glorious socialist paradise where people earn a decent wage from their employers.

If you tip $4 on a $60 meal, you deserve whatever happens to you.

That's still godawful.

It's also different if I am with a group, but I've never went to eat by myself and had a 60 dollar bill. In groups, we'll mostly all pitch in. Most I saw was ten dollars for a tip in a bill of 60 dollars or more.

If that's considered awful still then oh well. That's how I tip and some people need to just enjoy what they get.
