So, here he was, on Yavin. Playing diplomat and now.. tour guide? This was all new territory for the Padawan but hey, if people were going to start fighting he was going to try to keep some of the flames from being stoke. So as they walked, he removed his hand from her mouth. It felt absolutely wrong to him, very ungentlemanly and all around nasty. Noticing Xiann's weariness, he'd allow that warm grin to slip back into his features, something that seemed to work.

“Thanks, I’m used to just thinking out loud. Not my best quality I admit, and it does often lead to trouble.” She shrugged slightly, “I am trying to work on it though.” She smiled widely at him, “So, my saving knight, I’m guessing from your jovial tone, everyday here doesn’t have this much drama? All tea, biscuits and meditation?”

"Oh no, trust me, I like that about you. Quite frankly, I wouldn't change for anyone here, half of them are too judgemental with sticks up their shebs but there are those here that are nice. And then you got your goof balls and whatnot. Some really old Jedi roams the halls here, I think his name is Rupert or something, I dunno. I'm bad with names. Pretty sure he's senile and not even a Jedi, but the dude is a hoot."

He had an almost awkward laugh at her question. "Couldn't tell ya. I actively avoid people outside my circle. I will say, the food is bad, the robes are nasty, and you gotta be careful who you talk to or you end up in a four hour long philosophical discussion of 'Dude, where's my lightsaber, and what does it do?'. Outside of Yavin we got nothing but haters.." he'd pat the inside chest pocket. "If ya don't have em already, invest in some Hater Reflector Shades. Sends the bad juju back at the di'kute. Or ya just find the humor in what they say and laugh. Really disarms them. Also, definitely sorry for covering your mouth, just doing it felt wrong."

Xiann shrugged lightly as the man spoke, “I’m used to people being a bit bossy and overbearing. It kind of came with the work I did. Jobs needed to be quickly or quietly or most often secretly. Not to mention the deadlines.” She smiled at the mention of the old wandering man, “I’m pretty sure everywhere has someone like him. Brings a bit of character to the place.”

She waved her hand when he started apologising, “Don’t worry about it, you were only trying to help, and I did say some rather provacative things. Besides, It’s not the worst place I’ve been grabbed, hence him.” She gestured back towards Rusty who was steadily following them at a small distance. Her interest perked up a bit as they walked on, “Speaking of those light swords. Do all of you… what’s the word? Padwans? Do all of you have them? And is there any reason the redhead has a staff version? Or is it all personal preference?”

"Honestly though, what you were saying was probably on a few other peoples minds. Just unwise to mention in the presence of Knights or Masters. They hate us having opinions on such things." he said with a shrug, though there was a slight grimace during her reference to being grabbed. "Yeah.. I'm sure about that. Grew up on Corellia, did a lot of time with the wrong crowds."

"Light sabers? Not all Padawans have them, no. Granted, I've seen Padawans literally have one on day two around here so I guess it's a Masters preference thing. Haran, I don't even have one, even if I did though, I'd likely still use my sword. I like the weight of it, the feel. Sabers just seem like combat easy mode. And don't even get me started on the forms, they have so many unnecessary spins mid fight, that its a wonder the Sith and Jedi haven't killed themselves off already."
he said with a laugh. "Back to sabers, though. The Jedi builds their own and that comes down to preference on size and style or whatever."

Xiann smirked, “Opinions bad, gotcha. I can already tell you don’t mesh with that so well. As for wrong crowds, you’re in the middle of the jungle in an ancient building filled with robed weirdos wielding nigh unstoppable weapons. Every crowd is the same, it’s just learning to work out the kinks that let you survive.”

The Twi’lek smiled, “I’m more of a blaster kind of girl, but I can use my fists too if needs be.” Her eyes practically lit up when Drast mentioned building their own lightsabers, “You build them?! Now there’s a reason to join up. Grab me one of those schematics to go over and tweak and, after a few probable errors, have a mighty piece of tech.” The girl was disappearing into her thoughts and practically drooling at the thought of building her own lightsaber.

"Oh yeah, I got a lot of opinions and none of them are good." he said with a laugh. "Trust me, its either entertaining or depressing around here, depending on what's going on." They would finally cross through the hangar and actually enter the temple itself. "Ya know, I'm surprised nobody has even tried to fight that droid yet. Security needs to pick their game up."

"Blasters, eh? There is only one blaster in this galaxy that I want and if I ever get it, I could probably die happy."
he said with a smile of his own, enjoying the company. "Oh yeah, we build them with the force. So, it takes a lot of skill. Not just slapping the stuff together." Though when he paused, he could totally recognize the look on her face.

Smirking, he'd wipe his finger under his lower lip. "Got a little something here." he teased, even though she didn't.

Xiann wiped her chin, before realising he was messing with her and lightly punched him in the arm, “Oh shut up!” She chuckled as she looked up and around at the temple, before what Drast had said finally registered, “Wait. You mean you just summon the parts, basically, out of thin air?” The engineer stopped walking for a moment clearly in shock that this was even possible. “And you use it to summon weapons?”

The Twi’lek continued walking to catch up the few steps with her companion, “Could you not use that ability to make other stuff? Like food or fabrics or just some supplies? There’s a whole bunch of people that could use that sort of stuff. And from what I hear, the Jedi aren’t liked all that much, handing out supplies may help reverse that at least a little.” There she was, thinking out loud again. Hopefully non of the zealots were within earshot.

Drast smirked at the punch. "Oh yeah, we just will these pieces into existence." he kept a straight face for as long as he could until he suddenly broke out into laughter. "Nono, we have a place that stores parts, you use the force to construct it from supplies offered."

Casper couldn’t help but overhear the tail-end of the conversation between Drastus and Xiann. He was on his way to his favoured ‘spot’ at a rock pool just beyond the temple, and was carrying a small pile of books that balanced precariously on his arm.

Construct it from the supplies ‘offered’? Yet again, Drastus had proven his uncanny ability to simplify everything down to the most crude basics. The construction of a lightsaber is an intensely emotional experience, and one that's unique for each Jedi. The components call to you, the force guides you. The thoughts raced through his mind, forcing him to come to a stop. He just had to give his opinion.

Casper came to a sudden halt behind the two. “It’s a bit more complicated than that.” he interjected, before pausing a little as the two turned their attention to him, “If you get it wrong, it can explode there and then. I read about a Padawan who lost their hand during it. They hadn't aligned their crystal correctly.”

It was only when they turned, and in the middle of speaking, that Casper noticed a face he wasn’t familiar with (@Xiann). Drastus? Yes, the two had the misfortune of knowing one another. He was always cracking jokes. It was exhausting. Maybe if they were funny, we’d get along.

Xiann punched Drast in the arm again, “I can see you enjoy getting punched.” She grinned, “You really shouldn’t tease engineers. They are the ones that ‘fix’ your stuff.” The woman chuckled lightly until a voice came from behind them making her spin, her hand instinctively went to her blaster for a moment before she relaxed away from it. She was safe here, in theory. No need to be so jumpy.

The stranger gave a slightly less exaggerated description of the process, followed by what she guessed was only a rumour of injury. Though it was believable. “See, that sounds plausible. You guys build what is arguably the most powerful handheld weapon in the galaxy by willing the pieces together. No bolts, screws or even adhesive. I’m surprised any of you have any hands left if I’m honest.”

Two things happened when he heard the third voice. First, his hand would move to quickly cover Xiann's hand on her blaster, a smirk on his lips. "Yeah, guess that makes me a masochist." And the second was the internal grimace as he recognized the voice.

Now was the awkward part, this blonde Corellian was his natural rival at the temple. Where Drastus was funny, he was lame. Drastus was open, warm, Casper could effectively win the award of Padawan with the longest stick wedged so firmly up his rear. Now none of that was awkward, what was, is that Drast was so bad with names he couldn't even remember his own rivals name. Just the face and the voice. "Oh, it's you. I see you're back in habit of stalking me again." Drast would say with a grin. "Unfortunately, we cannot hang out until you have properly gone to the medbay and gotten the stick removed." he kept his tone light, carefree. He may have disliked Casper as a person, but the guy was definitely the poster child of a good Padawan, and one day would likely make a good Knight. But Drast would never admit that, so he kept the banter far south of threatening.

In truth, Drastus didn't hate him, they had a few similarities. Their Masters died on Ajan Kloss and they were both from Corellia, that said, the half-sephi just seemed to flaunt an aire of superiority without having any right to be.

“You’re new?” He didn’t much react at startling the young Twi’lek a little, instead simply inquiring as to who she was. Casper looked as though he was going to continue, perhaps even to introduce himself – but before he could get the next words out, Drastus spoke up.

Stalking you? Are you serious? Even the first words uttered by Drastus irritated him, but his quip that followed was what really got to him. Was I even that bad? Maybe he had come across as overly righteous, he wasn’t sure – but it didn’t matter now, because Drastus had successfully pushed his buttons. Somehow, everything he said was always made more annoying by that self-satisfied, smug, carefree demeanour that hung around him. Apparently, Casper was the only one who found it insufferable – evidenced by the fact that Drastus was surrounded by friends, and Casper none. It was another one of the many reasons he took against his fellow Corellian.

“That’s funny.” His deadpanned words were laced with frustration. “I’m impressed you even managed to string the words together.”

He regretted insulting Drastus’ intelligence almost as soon as he had done it, but his temper had a way of getting the better of him – especially after Ajan Kloss. It was too late now, anyway. He’d said it, and in the presence of somebody new, too.

So much for a good first impression. He had to imagine that this new Twi'lek would be another friend for Drastus.

Xiann gave Drastus another arm punch, at this rate he was going to lose the arm by the end of the day, “Don’t be mean to blondie. I was told people came here to study and look.” She gestured at Caspers books, “He has books. Everyone knows books are for studying. When was the last time you read anything? You may have a silver tongue, but if you don’t have knowledge in that big head of yours, it’s worth nothing.” The Twi’lek kept a sweet smile on her face while she gave the man what could be seen as a mini lecture.

The youngster turned back to Casper, “I’m Xiann by the way. Pleased to meet you.” She bowed her head slightly as offering her hand would only make him drop the books. “There are many ways to defeat an opponent. But all of them require time and practice. Besides, we’re all on the same side here, right?”

"Yeah well, Blondie here, has a history with me. Hence my words, known him since Kloss. And I read all the time, Xiann, especially about rampant mood swings of females." he teased, giving her a gentle shove. With a gaze back to Casper he would just shrug. "Apparently so clever and so studious, yet you go for the lowest hanging fruit. I'd say I'm surprised by where you stoop to, Caspy, but I've known you long enough to know where you thrive."

He'd then turn towards the rest of the hall, "I will let you two get acquainted, just being over here is making me sick. Enjoy the books, Casper. You'd think we were, Xiann, but you'd be horribly mistaken." He would then step away. He had taken more of the high road approach with Casper, not to impress Xiann, but to keep himself level. There were a few people he gave passes to for insulting his intelligence and Casper did not fall on that list.
