DESCRIPTION
The E-7 E-wing multi-role starfighter, also called E-wing escort starfighter, was a single-pilot starfighter developed by Incom-FreiTek Inc. It was notable for being the first fighter designed entirely under the support of the New Republic. As designed, the E-wing was intended to match or exceed the performance of the preceding X-wing series in every respect, and was meant to replace the older design in New Republic service. However, the craft suffered from several significant problems when first deployed among front-line squadrons. The most serious of these problems included malfunction issues with the wing-mounted laser cannons and the new R7 astromech units, which had been designed specifically for the E-wing. As a result, many pilots continued to fly the older but more reliable X-wing series.

Despite the initial problems, improved models of the E-wing would eventually see wide-spread use by the New Republic. By the time of the First Order-Resistance war, the E-wing had matured into an excellent starfighter design and equipped several elite squadrons in both the Republic and the Resistance. However, despite being a more advanced design, the E-wing never achieved the same popularity as the famous X-wing series.

The spaceframe of the E-wing was surrounded by two aerodynamic foils which provided stability and increased weapons ability. The nose cone contained the starfighter's powerful sensors, while a concealed astromech droid could easily be positioned midway through the craft. Directly in front of the astromech slot was the cockpit. The fighter was heavily armed with three laser cannons and two warhead launchers with a combined supply of sixteen warheads. Like most Incom-Freitek designs, the lasers were spread out and could be set to converge at varying distances.

Though it is a multi-role snubfighter, its primary advertised purpose was as an escort to transports, freighters, patrol craft, and bomber wings. Its compact front-on profile and hefty supply of warheads allow it to discourage pirate attacks and join bombers in their runs while still providing excellent screening against enemy fighters. Faster than the T-70 X-wing and nearly matching the T-90 and with maneuverability to match, it is a formidable craft in any role it is assigned.

While older models required modification of either the ship or the droid to properly interface with astromechs other than the R7 series, the modern Type B, released in tandem with the T-90 X-wing, is capable of being used with R-series droids as antiquated as the R2-series or the B-series just as well. Examples of this starfighter can be found in relatively common use by planetary defense forces and individual pilots due to its lower price compared to the T-90, often being bundled with its own R7.

LEGALITY
Restricted. T-90 X Wings are starfighters, and are subject to extra licensing requirements and increased scrutiny by authorities.

INTENT
To introduce a common Legends ship into the forum and add to the Incom-Freitek catalogue.

RESTRICTIONS
Due to the sophisticated nature of their systems, T-90s cannot be upgraded with aftermarket modifications.
