Just going to lob this name in (a bit late I know): Donald Trump.

Now in the UK the internets and social media is having so much fun trolling him, but - for all yea Americans out there - do you think there is a possibility he could be selected as the Republican Candidate?

I actually know a few people that support him, but realistically, I don't think it's possible for him to win.

He won't win the nomination -- Jeb Bush is guaranteed as the nominee -- but he does represent more of the Republican base than the Republican Party would care to admit.

He reminds me of the time Lex Luthor ran for office.

I think my thoughts on the entire 2016 election and all of its candidates can best be summed up by Ambrose Bierce's definition of the vote, which he describes as "the instrument and symbol of a freeman's power to make a fool of himself and a wreck of his country". Not really liking any candidate I see so far for various reasons. It feels like 2012 all over again, a competition of mediocrity at best and incompetence at worst. At least with Sanders, though, we might see another push towards real universal healthcare if the Republicans don't assassinate him first or maintain control of the House, which would be interesting.
