Not only was this ripe for pirate bait, it was also in a questionable area. It was the Velcar sector, known for its trade and being under the control of the an imperial governor before returning back to 'free market' or whatever they called it these days. Roland knew the corporate executives and the wealthy were the ones that actually held the power. But the business oriented Muun and their homeworld were just a hop and skip away in galactic terms. Sufficed to say, this was a place where transports and their trade were valuable. Wonder if it is carrying bars of gold. There wasn't any information about the ship they had except for past transport logs but those were few and far between. Not to mention they could easily be forged and it wouldn't surprise Roland either.

The Cobalt Viper came out of hyperspace at a safe distance from the asteroid belt. It was around the edge of the system. Leaning forward a little, Roland switched to scanners to begin muddling through all the natural interference that came with the the asteroid field and its composition. It was dangerous enough with the asteroids so keep people from jumping into this area closer.

The asteroid where the message coordinates had come from repeated in the local system. Pirate activity was also high and for a large transport like a GR-75, it would just be a matter of time before they were looted and the crew cast aside without a second thought, or worse. It wouldn't be long before they found the source of the signal. The large asteroid the transport had hit was barely rotating. Being this far out they would have some time though it was clear the ship had already gone one round. Its primary shields were completely gone but thankfully its interior hadn't lost pressure, yet.

"Alright rangers, you ever done a space walk?" So far it seemed like both the docking rings were working on the damaged transport. They would be able to get the crew off the ship safely if they wanted to connect their own ships. The trouble would be to convince the them to leave their ship until they could safely move it from the asteroid. There wasn't a way for the man to convince the merchants they would be able to save both their lives and their livelilyhood.

The main asteroid could end up colliding with another space rock when it finished its rotation or brigands could come along during any point and make things difficult. "We should first evacuate the crew from the ship and then wait for a few tugs to get here. Run a scan to see if any new energy readings in the system. Any news on what they hauling?" Some ships wouldn't even run a transponder. Only their ship's engines and drive signature would show up. The firespray wasn't designed for exploration or intensive scanning and was one of its few drawbacks in Roland's opinion. When it came to scanning known vessels and their contents it did the job well enough. But he would need to get closer to get a better scan on the ship as it was currently and maintain it or move closer. "Transport GR-75 this is Sector Ranger Captain Rook. Please power down weapon systems and prepare to be boarded."

Draco Virtus would in his police issued fighter as it came right behind Captain Roland out of hyperspeed. Draco sat the controls as his scanners were picking up nothing as they hovered on the edge of the asteroid belt. The Rangers were spread thin and Draco was tasked to go alongside the Captain and a fellow ranger to help secure the cargo and protect the crew of a crashed GR 75 Ship. They weren't told exactly what was on board but it had to be something worth protecting since they were called upon. Flicking a switch his southern voice transmitted to the rangers ships. "Mm, I got nothin' on the scanners around us..For now." he would finish before turning his head to get a better look off to his starboard side. "Sounds like a plan to me."

With that he would begin to descend towards the downed ship as he turned a couple switches and began to slow down on thrusters as he got closer. "Negative for knowing what's onboard..Gotta be somethin' good." he would shrug with his Mako 03 Armor on and helmet. Draco heard some stories about Captain Rook. He was a pretty straight forward Ranger, A Mando one at that. Though he never knew much about the creed. The other Ranger was rather new and he never heard tell either. It was hard to really get to know anyone as you spent majority of your time by yourself and kept busy with crime. Hopefully they wouldn't have to much trouble as the Rangers were getting shit on as per usual by crime lords and the public half of the time.

Kaz’s luck couldn’t be any worse. His own Ranger issued ship had gone to crap at a refueling station. Being primarily on ticket duty meant he wasn’t given the best equipment. However, he was determined not to miss out on the mission so he ended up renting a ship to make his way over. He had to comm the other Rangers to give them a warning about his approach to not be confused with a pirate.

The rental shuttle was also crap and he slowly put-putted his way in to join the others. Kaz heard the infamous Captain Rook comm in and ask if they had done a space walk before. He didn’t even bother answering on account of his only on the job experience being slapping tickets onto speeders.

Kaz watched the other two ships beginning to dock and he finally piped up, “Uh sir, would it be prudent to do a sweep around the asteroid to make sure pirates haven’t landed here already? We have no way of knowing what’s going on inside and it could potentially be a hostage situation.”

"Ranger Virtus." He said firmly to get the man's attention as he moved to dock with the ship. The Captain had given no such order to board the ship. The other ranger, Ranger Tran had some reservations of his own. "Do not dock with that ship." The words from Kaz would come through and give the Mandalorian a chance to direct the Sector Rangers. He could appreciate Draco's enthusiasm, and perhaps it was a lack of experience, but there were things to be kept in mind when it came to the ruthless outer rim.

This wasn't a training exercise and he didn't have time to explain each reason behind each action. But that was why there was the chain of command. He didn't have to give them reasons as a Captain. They weren't going to find any contacts or ships by continuing to scan around the asteroid field. "Always scan a ship before boarding." He shook his head. Roland had seen first hand what a single barrel of rhidonium rigged to a proximity trigger could do in an airlock. That was all it took and then both crews would be joining the rest of the asteroid belt and its rocks as fellow space debris. And that wasn't even considering the special reputation the GR-75 had as a fireboat.

"I think that's wise ...." He replied to the concern about hostages. Roland looked at the shuttle the man was flying and shook his head a little. Roland hoped they didn't have to deal with any starfighters. "...Virtus, you swing around the far side. If we're offloading the crew, we'll want them on the shuttle." The other side of the asteroid was more likely to be hit by rocks and dangerous to navigate. But there were some wild moves the man had pulled off and successful criminals were innovative. That was why they needed to get out of there sooner rather than later if they were going to save lives. It was a big rock though and would take a moment to circumnavigate.

Checking back on the transport, the weapon systems of the GR-75 were powered down as ordered. The closer that he got the ship, he ran his own scans on it and got a better visual on it. There wasn't any signs of carbon scoring or ship damage from weapons so maybe it really had just crashed.

@Exhilian @Sreeya sorry about the delay

Landing on an asteroid wasn't really as big of a deal as it sounded so long as you could pilot a ship worth a damn. Sakas might not be a dedicated pilot anymore but she would be damned if her skills got sloppy enough for her to not stick the landing on the first attempt. Without any assistance from the computer too because that just made it far too easy. She'd been called in last minute to assist on the damned mission but as she connected to the ship via one of its docking tubes, she was certain that there were other Rangers already here, even if her scanners had shown that two ships seemed to be leaving the area instead.

Weird but alright.

She flicked at the com unit in the cockpit as she stood up, making sure she did her checks for combat.

"Ranger Sakas Zareen calling on Ranger channels - got called in to pull some bacon out of the fire and back onto the frying pan."

Making sure her helmet was on tight to complete the seal, she drew her blaster pistol and kept her rifle attached to her back. She gave her rotary cannon a longing glance as she started making her way onto the Transport through the docking tube.

"I'm at docking tube Alpha."
she called out over the Ranger com channels before tapping her pistol against the closed airlock on the transport side, "Sector Rangers; open up."

There was no response, not even when she pressed the metaphorical buzzer and had the ship com the cockpit of the transport. Fantastic... lights were off and no one seemed to be home. Or they were about to try their luck at taking out anyone who came aboard, home alone style.

Either way, she called over her astromech droid to start work on the airlock's lock.
