Backstory​

Ephraim’s earliest memories are of wooden ceilings and the kind, worn faces of his caretakers. Left at the orphanage as an infant, he always heeded the nurse’s words to him that his mother must have loved him a great deal to have admitted she couldn’t care for him well. He spent his youth in a haze of chores, friendship, and great laughter.

He can still recall the way the Dantooine spring smelled the day she came. Robe billowing out behind her, the subtle glint of a metal cylinder at her waist, she walked with more than grace. She walked with power. More than the supplies she brought, Ephraim was enthralled with the sense of kinship he felt not just with this peacemaker, but with the world when she was near. He could feel nature pressing in all around him, not in encroachment, but embrace.

She sensed it in him too—the Force’s echoing. With his home’s permission, and all the excitement of a lanky fifteen-year-old, he accompanied her to become a Jedi. He accompanied her to give an embrace back to nature, in its mercy, and its cruelty.

In his training, Ephraim felt his rough edges hewn away, often painfully. He walked in the valley of loneliness, determined to become comfortable pitching a tent there. He yearned for a deeper communion with the Force, sometimes to his detriment. He cultivated a sense of humility and gratitude which rounded off his strong sense of right and wrong, his abiding care for the underprivileged, his oft-too-sharp tongue—rounded off, but didn’t eradicate.

Now, in his knighthood, Ephraim sees himself as an advocate, friend, protector, peacemaker. This is his work, then, to extend the unity of the Force and the peace of the Light Side to all he meets, and to be a guardian when it is impinged upon.

Abilities & Personality​

Gifted with acute conversational skill, Ephraim is adept at thinking on his feet and deescalating situations. He is quick to self-deprecate or seek a laugh to defuse a situation, but never at the expense of the task at hand. He has a self-awareness that serves him as a blessing, in introspection, and a curse, in occasionally succumbing to overthinking. Guided by a deep inner sense of justice, Ephraim is still liable to fall victim to emotionalism breaking through the equanimity he has sought to make his primary mode of being. An extrovert and people-person by nature, he is a sharp read of character. From boyhood he desired having a family, but has eschewed this sense of calling in seeking to maintain full devotion to the Force and Jedi Order.

Ephraim is a competent practitioner of Niman when the moment demands it. He rarely travels with more than simple traveler's clothes or robes, his meditation beads, and saber.
