They made it out of the lower reaches of the facility and to a hangar. Vizim didn't really know what exactly would happen to Z1MM, but it clearly didn't sound good. A death of some sort. Hopefully that battle wouldn't overflow into the rest of the galaxy. The sounds of gunfire and death could already be heard.

What he did know, however, was that the that deck was what he was interested in. He stepped forward and took it when offered. He didn't turn his back to the others lest they got any ideas about gunning him down. He half expected to find out they were all going to fight over the deck now, but that would remain to be seen.

We will take it and use it, he said to the droid. He knew that working with Blackwell on it was a good idea, and he wasn't going to let himself be cut out of the deal either. Time would tell what the others made of that if anything. He had a feeling they would all be taking the same ship out whether they wanted to be together or not.

The apparent Sith gotten the deck first. Newton had hoped that he would get it first, but he isn't quick enough. Now that means that if he wants anything to do with that deck he needs to work with him to do so, and Newton isn't particularly keen on working with SIth if he could help it. Sith aren't the trust worthy type after all he reckons. But on the otherhand, if the Sith intends to do anything with the deck he would need an expert who can get information off of droid matrices as he would imagine the Sith lack the means and know-how to do so. Newton does though. But yes, 'we will take it and use it' couldn't have been more apt words. Newton will still be wary of the Sith though.

'We will use it and improve upon it" Newton declared to the droid, picking up from where the Sith left off when he spoke. It's not simply enough to recreate something, but to improve and make something better. The droid seems resigned to it's fate, it knew that much. Newton would sympathized with the droid, loyal even unto it's and it's masters death against this 'evil' and it exercised no small amount of free will to make it's decision to entrust the deck to the organics. He also gained some respect for the droid intelligence for it's undying duty towards it's long dead master. "No great advance is made without great sacrifice. Thank you both for yours." He said and nodded his head towards the battered ancient droid.

With that, he would look at the others and to the assortment of ships. It's done, it's over, escape is in arm's reach. they can finally leave this place...

She appraised both men as they spoke; the Sith, surprisingly, seemed to align with the Blackwell representative. Were they allied somehow? It was above her paygrade to speculate.

The cat woman wasn't far from her eye either. They had enough ships; she could make her break for it and leave the woman to escape or rot if she wanted, but there was also the Suit there. "The suited one is best for this decision," her vocabulator deadpanned.

There were ships ahead, and her heart leaped with joy at the sight of them, and pounded with the threat of gunfire down below. It was time to depart, now.

It was time to leave, and fight another day.

X3R regarded the small group steadily, focusing on Newton as the human strode toward him. He stood impassively for a moment, databrain processing the situation almost audibly. The old droid was no match for a purpose-made tactical computer like Z1MM, but he was not as slow-witted as some in this age might have believed.

He held out the deck carefully for Newton to take.

"Ten thousand of the finest minds in the Empire labored for a decade to develop the matrix which would become the Z1-series battle computer. Overseen by the Daritha himself." The droid cautioned. "Improve it you may, but have a care to your hubris, organic. Nevertheless, I wish you success. I wish you all success."

With that, the droid swept a hand around the vast hangar. It was dusty, but filled with all manner of ships. Almost all seemed to be antiques, albeit well preserved ones. Whatever the group picked, it would fly them to safety.

"It is now, then, that we must part ways. Be off with you; I shall open the doors for your egress."

With that, the droid turned and strode away, toward a console in one corner behind a transparisteel exhaust shield. The huge doors at one end of the hangar began to open, revealing bright sunlight which glinted off the ships.

It was indeed time to go.

Many people would have sprinted for the sportier-looking ships, or ones with better firepower. Not her. She always had a soft spot for craft that could take a decent hit and let her stay under the radar. It was touching and all that the droid was taking to the Suit, but time was run out. Soon the Hutts would likely glass this place, and she wasn't up to waiting for the inevitable drop.

She paused for a moment, glaring at the cat woman for a beat longer.

And then she sprinted towards her choice of ship.

The escort freighter seemed a little dinged up, but otherwise in solid condition. She would wait a moment to lock up the on-ramp to avoid a certain cat from getting sly and taking a shot. When the doors opened enough, she would power up the craft, and take off, grateful the tech at least seemed sturdy enough to fly her to her next destination.

She wouldn't keep the ship for long; she'd likely try to sell it soon as she was on another planet far away from this one. Keep her head low for a bit before the next employer.

She waited until the planet was no longer in sight, until no other ships or forms scanned in as registered on her sensors before she let out a quiet breath, and reholstered her blaster. Something else glinted in her hand, however, hidden as it had been beneath her cloak.

The datacard she'd taken from the box.

Perhaps the old droid X3R hadn't noticed, or its' servos were so fried that its' processors struggled to keep up with all the data from the General Z1MM. But it glinted in the low light, and she glanced at it briefly, before keying in for a new location.

Wonder how grateful the Suit would be for a full deck for the ancient tech. She could finally have a bargaining chip for a new employer... but first she had to change out her ship, and get some new threads. She still stank of fear. Vontor, and its' horrors, wouldn't be something she'd forget anytime soon.

Hmmm? The machine wanted Newton to have it it? That is what it seems, it looks like luck is in his favor after all. He would then take the deck and then he would smirk. He had nothing more to say for the droid than what he already said, his last words towards it was already a farewell, no need for another one. Still, he meant it. He is still impressed by the loyalty the droid and it's overseer have, it goes beyond the typical creator-created or owner-droid relationship. It's the zeal and loyalty behind it. Newton likes to think his own droid M7 has that kind of loyalty towards him.

Still, with the deck in his possession he would store it in an inside jacket pocket and keep it underguard, he would then stride over to one of the ships and keep looking back the direction he was coming from, having eyes on the others. He would take one in decent condition, it will do.

Newton would then leave this world behind him, according to the navicomputer he's on some world called Vontor. A planet he's never heard of before. Still, going by the navicomputer it's going to take a long time before he can get to the civilized Core Worlds, he thinks he will go towards Manaan for now.

With that, his ship would take flight and soar into the clouds heading the stars. Newton isn't a good pilot by any stretch of the means but he's seen his droid work it and has some basic knowledge. Slowly he would set the calculations for the jump. Once they are in, and the cold hyperdrive finishes warming up, the ship would be thrusted in to hyperspace.

Newton can think breath a deep sigh of relief that this is all over. Let from this a new opportunity arose. It wouldn't be today, but eventually Newton would realize he doesn't have all the cards. But how could that be, he took the whole deck? But then it would come to him, that scavenger lady also took a card after he did when they weren't aware to it's true purpose. But although the droid took back Newton's piece before handing off the deck, she never returned hers... So, there is one piece of the puzzle out there... how would Newton go about finding this one woman...

But after this he is taking a vacation from work. He's too tired, too sore, too dirty from all this... He'd be fighting the urge to sleep while in hyperspace.

X3R watched as the group picked out their vessels and left, sheltering behind the barrier from the engine exhaust as each ship lifted and blasted for open sky. After some time, the old droid was standing alone in the hangar.

He looked around, judging the merits of the remaining vessels in the hangar, before plodding over to a cigar-shaped craft near the back. Boarding it, he settled into the control seat, before plugging his computer probe into a convenient socket. The archaic but willing engines spun up, and the droid guided the ship out of the hangar, ascending in a wide spiral and looking back at the fortress from above.

There was, in fact, little to see. The bunker had only a few low, unimpressive buildings above ground, not enough to call attention to it by anyone who did not know what was below. As X3R watched, however, something happened; one by one, each of the surface buildings went up in orange fireballs, and around them, huge areas of ground subsided. The droid felt a pang; Z1MM had evidently sealed off all the known entrances to the bunker. It - and the infected legions it fought - was now inaccessible from outside, save the application enough earth-moving equipment to reduce a small moon.

The Hutts would not be getting back their secret army. Nor, indeed, would that army be getting the Hutts.

X3R angled the ship up and out of the atmosphere. He set the navigation computer to randomize his course; his duty now was to get away, and once he was safe, he could carry on the struggle.

He was now the last of Xim's legions. By his deeds, his Master's fist might yet enclose the stars, and his name outlive time...

THE END?
