The blaster bolts whizzed past the legs of the Droid as he jumped through the vent. Draven kept his distance from the vent, but kept himself onto the wall. For a blaster round would go into his helmet. Perhaps an explosion will rattle them, Draven thought to himself. He reached out his hand to his fellow trooper.

"Thermal detonator."

The trooper punched in the codes to activate the explosive device. Grabbing the bomb quickly, he chucked it down the old rusty vent.

Death looked the man up and down. He was surprised to find that Hiro's client was a Besalisk, a scared one at that. He had never met a Besalisk before, but he had heard stories of them. And it was because of what he had heard that he was surprised by the behavior and look of this certain Besalisk. Death listened as Hiro asked him what he thought they should do next. "Well, with the state of this building, the turbolifts will most likely not work. There should however be some stairs that can take us to the roof. That 'condor' of yours can pick us up there." Death turned to face the door out into the corridor when the ground shook, and a burst of flame came out of the vent.

Hiro nodded to the young mans suggestion, it was by far better than anything he could come up with given the current alternatives. His ability to agree was significantly cut into however as the vent he exited from burst into super hot flame. Noting the flames were headed for the Besalisk he was tasked with protecting, the droid didn't hesitate in getting in the way of the burning blast. Flames licked a black outline around the bot as his jacket fell in a scorched pile around the still cowering client. Falling to his knees Hiro sparked for a moment noting the massive damage to his back, rerouting a great deal of his power, the droid arose.

Taking the Besalisk's hand he began to limp slowly, then more quickly as he got used to the new method of locomotion. Skidding up the stairs he spoke with a noticeably dimmed vocal projector,

"Gotta move pardners...gotta...move now..."

Power was seeping from him, but not so quickly to be critical, what was critical was getting to that ship before it left them. Hiro noted the clock and saw he had already lost two minutes, six by the time they reached the roof. Bursting through the metallic door the droid noted a large amount of air speeders all abandoned by the fleeing and panicked people. Why they didn't fly away in them was an oddity that the droid had no time to think on as he moved his plan into action. Noting this unexpected resource Hiro thanked his luck and moved right along routing the speeders to various similar routes to the one they would take to get to the ship. Setting their engines to start, the roof was filled with the din of gurgling machines. Eventually Hiro selected the fastest and least noticeable of the speeders and got in,

"Get in, we gotta make tracks before them troopers get us,"

Quickly the Besalisk leaped in, shaking the entirety of the speeder with his nervous chitter, wasting no time Hiro smashed his metal fist across the back of his head sending the client into an unconscious heap, stowing him beneath the back seats Hiro called out to Death,

"Get in, and hide under the seats, we're gettin out of here!"

Waiting for the young man to get in, he set his plan in motion, setting the air speeders on their routes, the sky was soon filled with automated ships flying in all directions and speeds. Clumped in this mass, Hiro drove forward, keeping his head low enough to avoid notice of those below. Checking his watch he noted they had eight minutes to get back to the ship, pressing his foot as hard as he could, the trio shot forward into the dark sky. Hiro hoped against hope, the pilot of that ship didn't lose his nerve, or worse still, his life as his ship might join the bones that now littered this grave planet, this sinking ship.

Death ran up the stairs behind Hiro. He slid to a stop behind the droid as the droid eyed the many speeders. While the droid set to work setting random courses for the speeders to fly, Death stood guard over the Besalisk. Once Hiro jumped into a speeder and told them to get in, Death lead the client over to the speeder and helped him into the back seat, jumping in behind and getting down next to the Besalisk. He saw that the man was knocked unconscious. Death felt himself being pushed back into the seats as the speeder took off, but he resisted it as best as he could. He had to shout in order to be heard over the roar of all the speeders in the air.

"Get us there in one piece Hiro!"

As Hiro heard the young man cry out, he heard his fear and exasperation, all the while his fuel cells slowly faded as his power began to leech away, gripping the controls with a rigor moritis strength, the droid held tough as he slowly watched the signal of the ship grow closer and closer. Eventually it came into view, looming in the distance he watched as it slowly began to rise into the sky. Looking to his internal clock he saw he still had three minutes, but it was clear that the pilot had made his decision. Pressing his metal foot fully down, Hiro sped ahead.

Their grand maneuver didn't go unnoticed as speeders all around them burst into flames, smashing into the streets below as shots from rifles, explosive rounds and shots from ships tore through the mass collective of automated air ships. Hiro maneuvered quickly around the rapid scatter shots using every single bit of energy he had remaining in his systems as his multiple bashing continued to plague the droid with a sinking reservoir of both energy and options. The ships rising slowed for a critical moment as it prepped for one last long leap up past the blockade, knowing he had one shot, Hiro shouted,

"Hold on to your hats!"

Slamming the speeder into high gear just before the open docking bay of the ship, he released the controls and slammed the brake. Instantly the inertia sent him flying forward through the sky. At first it seemed he would fall forever, but an instant later he slammed upon the metal casing of the ships open cargo bay. Turning about he caught the Besalisk and carrying him with the last bit of his strength looked to ensure Death was okay. After that he quickly ambled up the steps to see of the twenty crews who had arrived, only four remained, including Hiro and Death. It was a harsh price to pay, but Hiro had little time and less energy to worry about it. Falling to his knees, he only just barely connected himself to a power source as he fell into stasis mode, his limp body rocking with the ships sudden rise into the atmosphere and eventual jump to lightspeed.
