You heard me right. A Jedi is considering slumming it with the Hutts.

I'll be offering Rane's services in the form of mercenary work.

So, if you have a mission for him to do; either personal or otherwise, or perhaps a Force-sensitive would like some training, you can call Rane up. He'd be happy to, in a way, but so long as what he is doing does not bring ill-will towards his fellow Jedi. He's still loyal to the Order, first and foremost.

However, his services aren't free. In exchange for Rane associating himself with the Cartel, he asks for the standard fees; so this means credits, information or even favors he can call in at a later time.

So, if you would like a Jedi on your payroll, bring the offers to me.

Ugh not more Jedi :9:

A few questions on this if you don't mind.

Why is Rane wanting to work for the Hutts when we're pretty well established as being some nasty folks with slavery, killing, substance abuse, smuggling, extortion, piracy, mass murder, and forcing a large number of people to live in poverty?

Would this be something that Rane does of his own initiative, or is this something he'd get permission from the Jedi Council on beforehand?

Would you be signing up for the Cartel, and doing the whole Dual-Faction affiliation thing?

Well, Rane is doing this on his own initiative. The main reason is to get that cash-money into his pockets, because, let's be honest, the life of a peacekeeper doesn't exactly pay too well. Another big reason is to begin expanding Rane's contacts outside of the Jedi Order. Since I do plan on having Rane become more active on the galactic front, meaning fighting in the war and such, having access to a few contacts in which he could get certain materials not available to the Jedi normally would be extremely useful. Having friends in slummy places doesn't hurt, you know.
As for the dual-faction business it honestly depends. If he happens to do enough work with the Cartel, and manages to fit in well, I'd consider it. But, as I said, his loyalties lie with the Order first.

Have you signed him up for the big Cartel gladiator games? There's money to be made there!

Yeah, for him to be doing a lot of Cartel stuff (i.e missions, bounties, Cartel specific events, etc...) he'd need to be dual faction. That said there are some events (like the one Bee linked to), and more special operations where we need outsiders for some slight of hand, and of course if Rane has a friend in the Cartel, I wouldn't be opposed to him doing a mission alongside them on occasion. But that'd be about the extent of it without going through the whole dual faction thing.

You just want to kill more innocent Jedi. Aren't two councillors enough for you? Just take their blood and let the rest of the Jedi be.
