Faction Leader Expectations and Guidelines

Faction Leader Behavior
  • As leaders in the community, faction leaders should be setting the example for everyone to follow. This means following the rules and assertively standing up to members who are continuously disruptive on the site.
  • Faction Leaders who violate the rules or TOS will receive one warning from the Head Admin; continued rule violations will result in being fired from Faction Leader position and may have other appropriate consequences.
  • While you may have a larger work load than most members, it is still important for FLs and their AFLs to continue to participate in RP with members in the community to prevent feelings of disconnect.
  • Being FL can be a stressful, however, this is a site where people come to escape from stress. If you’re finding being FL has become a chore, it’s probably time to reevaluate what you are doing and delegate work.
  • Have fun! This site is fantasy, don't take things too seriously.

Assistant Faction Leader Behavior
  • Every faction leader needs to have clear expectations of their AFLs listed in their private boards. This should include behavior and job duties.
  • When choosing AFLs, please avoid picking someone who is a moderator on the site or has recent reports against their account. AFLs cannot also hold leadership positions in other Main or Indie Factions.
  • AFLs are there to help within the faction, if they’re not doing what they need to do, do not hesitate to fire them and find someone else who will be willing to do the work.
  • AFLs are not Faction Leaders; it is not their position to make final decisions on major changes to the faction and/or handling member discipline within the faction.

Member Behavior
  • If a member disagrees on a policy within the faction, you may choose to answer or not; deleting responses is never the appropriate route when handling conflicting opinions.
  • Members may do what they want ICly and OoCly; the only thing you can control are the consequences that arise from those actions.
  • Faction Leaders are permitted to kick members from their faction if such member is repeatedly disruptive even after being warned.
  • Faction Leaders are permitted to demote members within their faction.
  • Faction Leaders may also ban members who are disruptive in missions and battles from participating (PvP Bans); they also may pull members once a mission or battle has begun if the member is continuously disruptive.

Story & Faction Expectations
  • Faction Leaders should be working together to hold an overlying story for the site and all be in an understanding on the directions in which they want it to follow. Not every detail should be concrete and FLs should expect some flexibility with unpredictable results.
  • Main Battles need to be posted in the Hall of Leaders prior being presented for sign-ups for the members. This is to ensure battles don’t have repetitive generic or cookie-cutter objectives. This is also to ensure the FLs and Administration is aware of the battles happening on the site. The template for main battles as follows:
    • Battle Title: Select the ‘Battle’ Tag; the title of the thread should be the battle title
    • Prerequisites: List the missions completed with its links and the Grid involved
    • Battle Description: This is where you post the battle, its participant requirements and battle field objective and goals. Objectives don’t always have to be meet on the battlefield and fight, battlefields can be dogfights, boarding actions, speeder chases, Walkers, tanks, timed (so many posts made before a bomb goes off or help arrives), etc. etc.
  • The results of the main battle and its participants need to be posted by FLs once the battle is completed. The results of the battle will reported to the site cartographer by the Faction Admin (Dmitri). The template for battle results as follows:
    • Participants: Profile Names and Links
    • Participants Status: (Alive, Deceased, or Captured)
    • Results: Outcome of the battle for the faction
  • When picking members for battles, be sure to match members by their writing skill levels and not by who will win your battle the quickest.
  • Surprise battles do not need to be posted in the Hall of Leaders until after the battle is posted on the site. The Faction Admin does need to be informed about the surprise battle before it is posted in order to pass on to the Staff so they are aware.
  • FLs and AFLs are responsible for posting the opening posts of Main Battles. Opening posts should contain the participants, object and build the setting for the battle. Participants of the defending side may choose to either post first or allow the offense to post first.
  • FLs and AFLs are welcome to solve disputes and resolve battles without admin or moderator invention. FLs may use the HoL to discuss any disputes that may arise in battles in missions. Any non-cross-faction tournaments, duels or IC/OoC disputes are resolved by the Faction Leader.
  • New Write Ups or Faction Tech for the faction must be submitted in the Faction Write Up board. Please see this thread to know how to appropriately post. Once approved, FLs are permitted to edit their appropriate threads to add or remove write ups.
  • Pictures posted in relation to tech descriptions or their faction in general must have permission from the original author, or else it should not be used due to copyright. Once permission is received, credit must be given to the author and a link of the original content must be presented with the image. Images may be used from Wookieepedia without needing to contact an original author.
