DESCRIPTION
The Fang-class starfighter is an iconic design manufactured by SoroSuub and MandalMotors. The idea in their creation was for simple but effective ship to ship combat and performance competing against other starfighters or small ships. Most prominently used by the Mandalorian Protectors, they have found their way into the hands of mercenaries, criminals, and planetary defense forces across the planet. Considering the success of the Kom'rk starfighter/transport, the Fang has become a worthy successor.The Fang fighter has a very small profile making it one of the smallest starfighters not considered an interceptor. Two articulated S-foil wings are mounted on the starfighters fuselage and rotate around the ship, raising and lowering to respond effectively. A total of three ion engines allow the ship to achieve high speeds that give it credit to this day. The maneuverability and small target the ship provides usually makes up for its past lack of shielding. These days the improvements on the design have allowed a light deflector screen to be incorporated into the Fang's design. This allowed some of the more daring to have even more protection when performing a Concordia Face Off maneuver.
For offensive means, the Fang fighter possesses a pair of forward facing wing-mounted laser cannons. A concealed proton torpedo launcher is hidden within the design and is lined with scatterweave making detecting the warhead prior to launch slim to none. Most often Fang pilots utilize this feature on tougher and slower targets and rely on the laser cannons for starfighter combat. This has not stopped some from choosing to change the proton torpedo launcher with a concussion missile system in a few cases.
Each starfighter possesses an advanced sensor suite that relays activate information and can be connected with fellow squadron members. This improved setup allowed members of the Mandalorian Protectors to quickly identify and assess threats before engagement is needed. While not the furthest reaching, this sensor array has been remarked as effective by customs agents and anti-smuggling operations.
